The Gatekeeper of the Underworld, Grand Marshal of the Wuluan Empire, learns that their forces have suffered significant losses against a human nation. Despite the setbacks, he decides to personally lead the next invasion, believing the time is right to conquer the surface world and display the empire's strength.

The Gatekeeper of the Underworld stood at the head of the conference room. On either side of the round table stood four General Silver Armors and an adjutant dressed in white battle armor, all lined up in formation.

Above the round table, a projection of the Huaxu Nation was displayed in sharp detail, along with the forces in the surrounding seas. Every one of them was clearly marked.

Among the General Silver Armors, the one the Huaxu Nation had codenamed Blood Tide extended his right hand and began his report to the Gatekeeper of the Underworld.

“After the previous round of fighting, we now have a thorough understanding of how powerful this nation called Huaxu is.”

“Their technological level is already quite advanced. They possess a weapon of immense destructive power that can strike us from the sky or from the land. It poses a certain degree of threat to us, but as long as we keep the battlefield within their core territory and respond cautiously, it will be difficult for them to mount an effective attack against us.”

The Gatekeeper of the Underworld asked, “How powerful is it?”

Blood Tide replied, “It could inflict a certain amount of damage on the four of us.”

The Gatekeeper of the Underworld immediately lost interest.

“Never mind.”

He studied the map, his gaze roaming over the various regions like a beast hunting for prey.

“I want to know where the man who killed Scout Zeng Yi and wiped out the entire special operations unit is.”

At his words, the four General Silver Armors present were visibly embarrassed.

They had originally expected this battle to end in a splendid, complete victory.

After all, on the other four battlefields, they had devastated their targets to a terrifying degree and killed countless human soldiers.

But in Tianshui City, their brother unit had suffered a crushing defeat, and had been wiped out to the last man!

For the Wuluan Empire, this was a humiliation almost too shameful to speak of!

“Hm?”

The Gatekeeper of the Underworld turned a cold gaze on them.

It was his adjutant who spoke up. “Right here, sir! A small city by the sea.”

He raised a hand and pointed to Tianshui City. The three-dimensional map immediately zoomed in on that area.

The Gatekeeper of the Underworld narrowed his eyes, staring intently at the location.

“Are you telling me that an entire special operations unit, fully assembled, couldn’t even take one of their cities, and was wiped out instead?”

The General Silver Armors’ expressions grew even grimmer. The adjutant could only say helplessly, “Yes, Grand Marshal.”

The Gatekeeper of the Underworld nodded, then pointed straight at Tianshui City. “Then we’ll break through here in the next battle!”

He would personally take the field. He had to win this battle in the most magnificent fashion!

He would crush one of humanity’s most powerful nations in an overwhelming victory, without leaving the slightest room for doubt!

Only then could they cover up the humiliation of their last battle and demonstrate the Wuluan Empire’s strength.

The four General Silver Armors offered no objections. In their eyes, as long as the Gatekeeper of the Underworld took action, every human force would be utterly destroyed wherever his blade pointed!

“Then how should we carry out the battle plan?”

Blood Tide asked, “As things stand, the only cities in Huaxu Nation worth spending any time on are Shengjing and Tianshui.”

“We can launch another fully prepared assault on the other regions and wipe them all out!”

The Gatekeeper of the Underworld glanced at Tianshui City and Shengjing City, then said casually,

“No need to make things so complicated!”

“After the first round of fighting, they’re already on guard against us. If we split our forces again now, you could end up suffering the same fate as the Fifth Unit.”

“Just come with me to this little seaside city!”

The Gatekeeper of the Underworld clenched his fist, as if he were about to crush Tianshui City in the palm of his hand!

“First, destroy Tianshui City. Then attack Shengjing directly!”

“Use every bit of strength we have to shatter their sharpest blade! Then this nation will be ours for the taking!”

As he spoke, a deep, shadowy gleam flashed through his eyes.

He faintly recalled what had happened two years ago.

It was the first time he had been roused and sent to the surface.

In all the countless ages that had passed, the Wuluan Empire had never once made contact with the outside world. The one they sent was none other than the empire’s Grand Marshal, himself.

He had once been uneasy, harboring deep awe for the unknown world beneath the open sky and fearing he might encounter some powerful, terrifying race.

After landing, even in his armor, he felt the sun’s scorching heat.

And he felt how weak humanity was.

They were as weak as vermin. The Gatekeeper of the Underworld could crush them with ease.

If not for some immense force warning him from somewhere beyond his senses, or perhaps for his own amusement at the vermin, he could have effortlessly wiped them all out on the spot!

Among those people, one young human had left a very deep impression on him.

With only a fleeting glance, he had remembered that kid, who possessed an extremely rare spatial supernatural power and an exceptionally strong sense of vigilance.

The boy had used a sacred remnant discarded by the Wuluan Empire and, by sheer chance, broken through to a new level of life, reaching the fifth tier.

The aura of the Wuluan Empire within him had also stirred a trace of curiosity in the Gatekeeper of the Underworld.

He simply hadn’t expected that, in just two short years, the young man would make such astonishing progress.

If he and his people were allowed to keep growing,

it might not take more than a few years for them to seriously obstruct the Wuluan Empire’s landing plan!

The underground world was not as peaceful as one might imagine!

The Gatekeeper of the Underworld braced both hands on the table and looked out through the conference room’s transparent walls.

Throughout the endless ages, they had endured disasters that had brought them to the brink of annihilation time and again.

Forced to scrape by and survive as a remnant people, they could only pray each day for divine mercy, searching for opportunities in the narrow gaps left to them.

They, too, wanted to live openly and honorably, to become a people protected by the gods.

So they had to seize this opportunity, the one they had waited so long to receive!

“Prepare for our second expedition!”

“The time of departure is tomorrow night!”

The Gatekeeper of the Underworld crossed his arms and issued the battle order in a commanding voice.

With the Wuluan Empire’s strength, preparing for war like this would not take long.

This was an age ruled by ability users. A force of several hundred elite warriors was enough to destroy a vast human kingdom.

“For the future of the Wuluan Empire!” said the Gatekeeper of the Underworld.

The adjutant beside him and the four General Silver Armors bowed their heads. Crossing their hands over their chests, they answered with reverence and resolve, “For the future of the Wuluan Empire!”

An even more brutal war was about to begin.
