The Mo Residence buzzed with grandeur for Young Master Mo's child's 100-day banquet, featuring exquisite pastries, champagne served by attendants, and a live performance by Country M's royal orchestra. At the airport, Yan Shaoqing bid a reluctant farewell to Gong Zeli, who committed to three years overseas managing the Gong Corporation's new market amid his unresolved feelings. Gong Zeli entrusted Yan Shaoqing with a sandalwood box gift for Qiao Mianmian's baby before departing.

“Fine, count on me. But, may I ask what it is?”

Gong Zeli remained silent for a moment before giving a nod. “Feel free to open it.” Yan Shaoqing lifted the lid of the box and froze in astonishment at the item within. He glanced up and inquired, “Isn’t this your protective amulet?”

“Mm.” Gong Zeli nodded again. “This amulet has proven quite potent. It’s shielded me for years. Time to pass it on to another.”

Yan Shaoqing stared in disbelief. “This is the very amulet you’ve worn since childhood. It even warded off several disasters for you. You’re… really giving it away?”

As a child, Gong Zeli had frail health and faced frequent misfortunes. Madam Gong visited a temple and sought out a renowned monk to bless an amulet for him.

The amulet worked wonders. From the moment he wore it, his condition improved steadily. Later, he faced additional perils yet always emerged unscathed.

Gong Zeli never took it off after that.

Thus, this amulet held immense significance for him.

“It’s for no ordinary person.” Gong Zeli’s gaze darkened. “It belongs to Mianmian’s child now. I wish for the boy to thrive in perfect health.”

Years ago, she had rescued him, yet he’d wrongly identified her.

Though he yearned to repay her once the truth emerged, the chance had slipped away.

At present, he trusted that the amulet from his youth could safeguard her little one.

“Shaoqing, pass on one more message to Ah Si for me. Urge him to cherish Mianmian properly. Should he ever wrong her, I won’t spare him.”

Yan Shaoqing was at a loss for words.

He wouldn’t dare relay that to Mo Yesi.

Still, he believed Gong Zeli had no cause for concern here.

Mo Yesi pampered Qiao Mianmian to the extreme, as if ready to pluck the stars from the sky for her.

“Okay, I must head out now. We’ll catch up next time we’re free.” Gong Zeli brushed past Yan Shaoqing, whispered a few comforting words to the tearful Madam Gong, then pivoted toward the boarding area.

Clearing security, he glanced back, waved to Yan Shaoqing and Madam Gong, and departed without another look.

Moments later, he vanished from sight.

Yan Shaoqing pulled back his eyes and examined the wooden box clutched in his palm.

Maybe once Gong Zeli fully released his feelings for Qiao Mianmian and moved on, life would revert to its former rhythm.

He anticipated that moment eagerly.

Lingering at the gate a few minutes more, Yan Shaoqing stowed the wooden box. He turned to the teary-eyed Madam Gong and suggested, “Aunt Gong, time for us to leave as well.”

Madam Gong kept staring toward where Gong Zeli had gone, finally tearing her gaze away with reluctance.

Yan Shaoqing stepped up politely, took her hand, and they exited the airport together.

Aboard the flight bound for Country M, Gong Zeli pulled out his phone and accessed a photo gallery.

The image was one he’d snapped in secret.

The girl in it boasted sparkling eyes and pearly whites. Her delicate features shone, especially radiant in her smile, which radiated warmth and allure.

That smile appeared to brighten the entire world.

Gong Zeli gazed at the photo’s girl for what felt like ages. “Mianmian, stay happy,” he whispered softly.

Happiness was essential for her.
