The wizard civilization's ship-plane is discovered by the behemoths, alerting them to the presence of three powerful ninth-level creatures. With both sides preparing for a full-scale war, the wizard legion deploys its forces, with constructs and elemental beings forming the vanguard. The battle begins as servant races clash with the wizard's auxiliary units. Meanwhile, the three ninth-level behemoths stir, prompting the wizard leaders Peyton, Alvis, and Meridian to engage them directly, signaling the imminent eruption of a major conflict.

As time went on, the battle between the two sides quickly reached white heat.

On the Behemoth Alliance’s side, masses of seventh-level servants, led by the behemoths, charged the wizard civilization’s formations.

They came in every shape, and their modes of attack were just as varied.

Though each one was quite strong on its own, their assaults plainly lacked coordination; more often than not they relied on their own talents and tough bodies to force a breakthrough.

The wizard civilization’s side was entirely different.

As the orders came down, all manner of constructs, elemental beings and other auxiliary units rapidly formed up into different formations.

The units responsible for defense linked up with one another, forming multilayered protective structures.

The units responsible for attack released spells in turn, according to a predetermined rhythm, putting every last bit of energy to use in the most suitable place possible.

Boom!

A vast torrent of flame poured out of the wizard formations, engulfing dozens of the servant creatures charging in the very front.

Yet those creatures did not die at once; instead they pressed on through the flames, and only lost the ability to act after being hit one after another by the frost bindings and spatial slashes that followed.

On the other flank, several thick-shelled behemoths slammed into the wizard legion’s defensive line, with a deafening roar.

The defensive arrays shook violently, but did not collapse.

Right after that, masses of ray attacks flew out from behind the formations, hammering these creatures at the joints, the mouthparts and the junctions of certain scales.

After several rounds of attacks, they had suffered heavy losses and were forced to withdraw from the frontal engagement.

Jie Ming hovered at a position far from the front line, observing the battle while a spread of light screens recorded all kinds of data.

“The defenses of these Scaled Beast faction creatures really are astonishing, but their mode of attack is far too simple.” He quickly saw the problem.

The Behemoth Alliance’s servant peoples possessed considerable combat power, but their strength came mostly from talent; they lacked the combat techniques the wizard civilization had built up through vast amounts of research.

They could take all kinds of attacks on their bodies, but they were not good at breaking an enemy’s defenses through complex, coordinated technique.

To put it bluntly, they could take a beating, but they were not flexible enough.

If their opponent had been the legion of some ordinary civilization, their racial advantages would have been enough to give them the upper hand in a frontal battle.

But against an opponent like the wizard civilization, which excelled at research and coordinated warfare, relying on talent and raw power alone was clearly not enough.

Especially before a wizard legion that had already been equipped with the new version of Leap Power technology, they could not withstand a single blow.

Wizards connected to the new version of Leap Power could draw on far more external elements; though most of them could not yet reach the theoretical ceiling of tenfold, their actual output had still improved quite noticeably.

Attacks that had once required several wizards casting in turn could now often be completed by just a few.

And some of the sustained firepower that in the past could only be maintained by several wizards forming a large array could now be supplied directly by a single wizard.

The scales of battle tipped rapidly toward the wizard civilization, and the wizard legion even began a counterattack, advancing on the enemy’s “main camp.”

Just as Jie Ming was steadily recording data, three utterly terrifying auras came from deep within the battlefield.

Right after that, the flow of elements on the battlefield suddenly changed.

The dozens of observation light screens before Jie Ming flickered at once, and the data models that had been running stably fell into chaos in an instant.

The elemental concentration spiked, then was forcibly pressed down again by some power; the elemental particles in space were as if kneaded by an invisible giant hand, and even the basic parameters of those plane fragments began to fluctuate abnormally.

That was not the three ninth-level behemoths deliberately releasing some wide-area attack.

They… had simply woken up.

“All units, break off pursuit and contract the formations immediately!”

Peyton’s voice carried across the battlefield through the legion’s command network.

At almost the same moment, the three behemoths raised their heads.

They had been lying prone deep within the nests piled up from countless plane fragments, their colossal bodies merged with the broken continents around them.

Only now did they reveal their true outlines.

The lizard-like behemoth opened its mouth and simply drew one breath, and the thousands of plane fragments before it crumbled soundlessly into powder.

The residual elements, energy and even the material structures inside the fragments were ground to pieces by that current of air.

The several wizard squadrons that had been floating nearby were forced to activate emergency defenses before they could even sound an alarm.

Dozens of layers of protective barriers lit up one after another, and were pressed out of shape in the span of an instant.

Fortunately, the wizard clusters behind them poured in energy at the same time, and only just managed to keep the protection from collapsing.

Jie Ming stared at the data on the light screen, his eyes burning.

In the region that breath had passed through, some of the laws of the elements had suffered brief interference.

Had energy not been replenished in time and the defensive arrays restabilized, the wizards inside would not even have been able to organize their own spells properly.

And this had been nothing more than a casual breath from a ninth-level behemoth.

“All forces fall back three standard distances! No, not enough, further!” On the command channel, a wizard was shouting urgently. “Give up the forward battlefield! Don’t let their power reach the main formations!”

The order was passed down quickly.

Millions of wizards began adjusting their formations, and the attack columns that had been advancing smoothly were forced to split up.

Some of the units that had already pushed deep into the enemy’s positions even had to abandon the gains they had already secured, retreating under the pressure the behemoths brought to bear.

Everyone moved fast, for coveting the gains of a few plane fragments before a ninth-level existence was no different from walking straight into a meat grinder.

“Roar!!”

Only now did the second behemoth give voice.

Or rather, an elemental shockwave like a wave of sound!

Before the shockwave had even arrived, Jie Ming found that his observation light screens had begun to lag noticeably.

Several data chains in the middle of their computations abruptly shifted out of place, and the energy models that had been running on their set trajectories began to drift off in another direction, as though dragged by some invisible force.

Right after that, an impact the naked eye could not capture swept through the void.

Countless plane fragments shook at once, and dense webs of cracks surfaced on them.

Some of the broken planes could not bear the force and disintegrated outright from within, turning into great swaths of flying continental plates.

Those plates, carrying enough impact force to destroy an ordinary eighth-level creature, careened through the void.

A seventh-level wizard in the middle of retreating sensed something was wrong and immediately propped open his Law Solidification Domain.

The space for hundreds of thousands of kilometers around him froze in an instant; every fragment flying toward him stalled at the edge of the domain, then was ground to fine powder by an invisible force.

But before he had time to catch his breath, a crack suddenly appeared on the surface of the domain.

The seventh-level wizard’s face changed abruptly, and without the slightest hesitation he abandoned that domain and teleported away toward the rear.

The next moment, the residual impact swept through, flattening the position he had just occupied along with several plane fragments that had not yet been withdrawn.

Jie Ming’s gaze hardened slightly.

This was the oppressive pressure the ninth level brought: even having seen it many times, he still found it powerful to the point of absurdity.
