The wizards confirmed that the plane's inhabitants were primitive and lacked advanced civilization. They discovered that the plane's plants were unnaturally perfect, suggesting an artificial environment or a massive laboratory. As the colossal plane wizard Number One descended, causing a natural disaster, Jie Ming and Wizard Fate simultaneously sensed a familiar aura—the Incense Fire Poison. This anomaly drew the attention of all wizards, and Wizard Fate identified it as the target he foresaw.

Without much hesitation, the group followed Wizard Fate, flying off in the direction he had sensed earlier.

As they flew, Jie Ming noticed that the whole plane was contracting faster and faster.

The ground beneath them was moving in the direction he had sensed before, the distant mountain ranges were shrinking bit by bit in his field of view, and the clouds in the sky were being drawn by an invisible force to converge toward that same point.

It felt as though the entire plane were a sheet of cloth gripped by an invisible hand, being gathered in toward a single center.

They had not flown for long before a furious roar reached them.

The sound burst out from deep within the plane, carrying a pressure that no words could describe.

Wizard Fate and Clark acted at the same moment. Their Law Solidification Domains unfolded in unison, two layers of protection stacking together to shield everyone behind them.

Boom!!!

The muffled pressure spread outward, and the two Law Solidification Domains shuddered ceaselessly under it.

But even with the two of them standing in its way, Jie Ming could already feel the lingering echo of that aura.

That all-too-familiar feeling set his Body Forging Method rapidly stirring into motion, and in his spiritual sea the Five Aggregates Rainbow Mirror rose up and scattered its radiance down, helping him steady his soul.

This familiar sense of oppression was one Jie Ming had felt many times before.

It was a terrifying pressure that crushed everything from the sheer height of its life level, enough to make any eighth-level creature lose its will to fight in an instant; anything below the eighth level would be ground to dust outright without even managing to resist.

That was… the aura of a ninth-level creature!

But although Jie Ming was very familiar with this aura, the others present were not.

Nearly every high-level wizard there had been cowed by the terrifying aura.

Several seventh-level wizards had gone pale. Augusta instinctively glanced at Jie Ming’s reaction, and a flicker of unwillingness crossed that face.

Viola, on the other hand, though she too had paled on sensing the terrifying aura, had a glint of excitement flickering in her expression.

Jie Ming, however, once the first wave of oppression had passed, noticed something slightly off.

He could fairly be called “familiar” with the aura of ninth-level creatures, which was exactly why he could sense it: there was a kind of… weakness showing through this ninth-level existence’s aura.

The weakness was extremely well hidden, largely masked by the terrifying pressure inherent to a ninth-level creature, but to Jie Ming, who had come into contact with ninth-level existences several times, it was still discernible.

Wizard Fate showed surprise as well. He closed his eyes and sensed for a few seconds, then opened them, a trace of disbelief in his voice: “I never expected it. This time’s test target is actually a wounded ninth-level.”

At that, astonishment spread across every face.

“It’s been in a wounded state all along?!”

“How is that possible?”

Their astonishment was only natural. After all, a ninth-level creature had two defining traits: one was “thought becomes reality,” and the other was infinite power.

With those two traits, a ninth-level creature could be killed, driven back or suppressed, and it might well be wounded in battle, but it was absolutely impossible for it to remain wounded once the battle was over.

Because all They had to do was will it, and Their wounds would heal completely out of thin air.

Just like the Incense Fire Poison Jie Ming had sensed earlier, at the very moment the other side awoke, which had existed for only an instant.

Most likely this ninth-level creature had simply felt uncomfortable, without thinking, upon regaining consciousness, and so, following Its subconscious notion, an accumulation of Incense Fire Poison that in theory was enough to bring down an eighth-level wizard had vanished in an instant.

Now Jie Ming also understood what the mental attack he had met after entering this region had really been.

The reason the Mysterious Astral Mortal Dust Barrier had been pierced was that the “level” of this attack was simply too high.

Fortunately, though, its strength had been lacking; at most it counted as a power of suggestion.

It had pierced his protection, but with the Five Aggregates Rainbow Mirror’s help it had not done much damage.

Put simply, its strength was not high, but every hit it landed was real damage, and anyone whose mental strength reached a certain standard could resist it.

Once the shock had passed, curiosity and greed kindled in everyone’s eyes.

If a ninth-level creature had such traits, then what on earth was the technology that could wound It and keep the wound from ever healing?

Even Wizard Fate could not help being curious about that.

A wounded ninth-level, a ninth-level that could not heal itself: it meant that some power beyond the ordinary rules of the ninth level existed here.

With that thought, the wizards present all began deploying their various means, preparing to gather as much information as they possibly could in a moment.

Jie Ming began gathering information on his surroundings as well.

His True-False Void-Piercing Pupil ran at full power, parsing the veins of rune flow through the plane layer by layer.

And then he saw it.

Inside the plants on the ground, the runes were rapidly stirring to life, and the moment they touched runes not their own, they swiftly assimilated them.

Outwardly, this showed as their vines and root tendrils growing wildly, coiling around the creatures of the surrounding communities, strangling them, and then devouring them.

Those creatures were dragged screaming underground, turned into energy and absorbed by the plants.

At the same time, the plants themselves began moving toward the center point, soil they were rooted in and all, converging in an endless stream in that direction.

Watching this scene, everyone understood.

Just as they had judged before, this Central World was a trap, and it had been created by this ninth-level creature.

Most likely It had not even created it deliberately. Rather, while It slept to heal Its wounds, Its body had created it unconsciously, out of instinct, in order to devour more elements and power.

The peculiar mental suggestion suffusing the whole plane, and the rune structures of those plants, were all by-products of that unconscious creation.

Or to put it more plainly: the entire plane was in fact part of the ninth-level creature!

Wizard Fate patted the shrunken-down Wizard Number One beside him, then looked toward the three plane wizards.

There was an excitement in his expression that he could not suppress. “That’s your test subject. If you’re ready, follow me in.”

For an ordinary sixth-level creature to face a ninth-level one was nothing short of suicide, yet the three plane wizards grew excited at his words.

The law patterns on Number One’s plane sped up their circulation, and the other two plane wizards entered battle readiness in step with it.

A pale blue radiance of law spread out beneath the sky, holding the spatial pressure around them within a controllable range.

Wizard Starfall stood behind the three plane wizards, a recording crystal already readied in her hand, the silver-blue law patterns in her pupils circulating continuously, ready to record the combat data at any moment.

Beyond them, the other wizards were all eager to try their hand too.

An existence that could keep a ninth-level creature wounded: the knowledge and technology hidden in it were enough to drive the great majority of wizards mad with desire.

“Let’s go,” Wizard Fate said.

The party set off once more, flying toward the core region deep within the plane, shrouded in lightning and dark clouds.
