I Arrived At Wizard World While Cultivating Immortality Chapter 948: Amateur

Hearing Augusta’s refusal, Jie Ming was a little puzzled:
“What is it? Has something gone wrong over there?”
“More or less. Things have changed a little.”
Augusta nodded earnestly. “In the time since you left, the number of creatures on the other side of the spatial passage has kept rising, and rising fast. More importantly, none of the newly arrived auras are low-level.”
Jie Ming frowned, then quickly caught on. “Looks like the World Lord on the other side is mustering troops.”
“Exactly. That’s what I thought too.” Augusta nodded. “There’s a considerable amount of high-level force gathered in front of the spatial passage now. Put that together with the situation on your side, and it’s clear they must have concentrated most of the strength they can muster right here.”
Jie Ming pondered for a moment. “In that case, isn’t that all the more reason for you to come over? After all, they’re certainly not going to break through on that side.”
“No!”
Augusta shook her head firmly. “The enemy has mustered far too many troops. I need to pin them down here. Once the pressure is off, there’s a good chance they’ll free up their hands to take back control of this spatial passage. If that happens, everything after will get complicated.”
Jie Ming understood what she meant, but was still a little worried. “Can you pin them down all by yourself?”
At that, Augusta laughed. “If they launched an all-out attack right away, things really would be tough for me… which is why I still need your help on this side!”
“I need you to take advantage of the fact that most of the enemy’s fighting strength is massed in front of the spatial passage, and strike straight at their rear. That way, whether they want to hold their ground or send reinforcements back, they’ll have to split their forces.”
Jie Ming picked up where she left off. “And if they split their forces, it eases the pressure on both of us at once, and it also keeps us from running into the front-line positions the Holy Spirit race has already prepared… That works!”
Jie Ming agreed at once. “Got it. Then you keep up the illusion over there, and I’ll soon make a big enough commotion in their rear. Once they split their forces, we’ll look for our chance to move!”
“Leave it to me!”
The call ended, and only then did Jie Ming look down at the chaotic battlefield below.
By now, the Holy Spirit race’s resistance had completely collapsed, and a number of mental waves belonging to high-level Holy Spirits were rapidly moving away.
Clearly, some of the high-level Holy Spirits meant to run.
Earlier, Jie Ming would have intended to stop them, but now he had changed his mind.
Without these fellows spreading the word, how could he make the commotion big enough?
“Pass the order.”
At Jie Ming’s words, a nearby Black Giant priest immediately bowed to receive it.
“All legions, speed up the advance. You may forgo some of the prisoners.”
“Capture them if you can; if you can’t, just kill them. Push on to the next region as fast as possible, and don’t get bogged down by the enemies here.”
“Our goal isn’t to build a defensive line here…”
Jie Ming looked up at the continent, which was shaking wildly.
“It’s to throw their rear into chaos!”
The order quickly spread through the legions.
The cannon-fodder legions, which had been methodically mopping up the enemy, abruptly changed tactics.
The Black Giants began to abandon enemies that were hard to catch, and the dragonblood mushroom-men even stopped bothering to chase fleeing Holy Spirits, charging instead straight for the more distant districts.
Boom! Boom!
One city defensive array after another was forcibly torn open.
Great numbers of Holy Spirits fled back in terror, only to discover that the invaders had not come after them to slaughter them at all, but were swiftly pushing on further ahead.
This only made the Holy Spirits more panicked, because they could see that this army did not merely mean to fight here.
“Something’s wrong! They’re moving toward the ‘passage’!”
“Quick, tell the King!”
“We can’t let them get any further in!”
Mental waves streamed frantically into the distance.
But by the time the Holy Spirits’ powerhouses arrived as support, Jie Ming had already led his legions off the continent.
Behind him were ever-rising flames and collapsed buildings; ahead lay great stretches of Holy Spirit territory as yet untouched by war.
Thanks to the vast number of permanent passages the Holy Spirit race had built to link its planes, Jie Ming’s guerrilla campaign became a great deal easier.
…
…
“Quick! Stop them! Kill them all, leave none alive!”
A Holy Spirit King stared at the Black Giant legions and dragonblood mushroom-men pouring out in an endless flood. Once the shock passed, it quickly waved its tentacles, signalling the Holy Spirit armies standing ready on every side to launch an all-out attack.
“Damn it! That useless King of Spreading Fear not only got himself marked, he even let someone slip deep into our race’s rear!”
“That bastard’s nothing but an amateur!”
Even as it cursed, the Holy Spirit King kept retreating.
Looking at the plane passages it had once built, which it had prided itself on as veritable wonders, the Holy Spirit King now wished it could go back in time and slap itself!
Permanent spatial passages certainly made travel convenient, but their drawback was that there was no way at all to sever them at short notice.
Now the very Holy Spirit Kings they had once mocked as backward could simply sever their spatial passages to save their own skins.
While those of them who were left naturally had to bear the onslaught of the “Calamity”.
That’s right: in just a few months, the legions under Jie Ming’s command had become a byword for calamity in the eyes of the Holy Spirit Kings.
After all, with the growth limits on the dragonblood mushroom-men lifted, what the Holy Spirits faced was an army of seventh-level creatures in staggering numbers, practically without end!
Even within Holy Spirit civilisation, a seventh-level creature could already serve as a general ruling a region. How could one ever be expended as a common soldier!
Even it, faced with such outrageous numbers and quality, had no choice but to retreat.
Boom!!!
Suddenly, amid an earth-shaking explosion, a sky full of fire engulfed everything before the Holy Spirit King’s eyes!
“Bastards!!”
Such terrifying power. Even the Holy Spirit King was sent flying backward, its mental waves gone almost entirely blank.
For just a moment ago, yet another seventh-level dragonblood mushroom-man had self-destructed while surrounded!
How was that possible?! How could such a creature exist!
It had clearly risen to such a level, and yet it could still launch a suicide attack without the slightest hesitation!
Even having seen it many times already, the Holy Spirit King still could not comprehend what was happening before its eyes!
But the fact was that whether it was those black humanoid elemental creatures or these half-elemental ones, the moment they fell into a disadvantage, they would self-destruct without the slightest hesitation!
It was for this very reason that, after one tentative joint attempt to encircle and annihilate them, the vast majority of the Holy Spirit Kings capable of severing spatial passages had adopted a wait-and-see stance, resolutely refusing to take on this army!
“To think he provoked a monster like this! That King of Spreading Fear really is an amateur!” Utterly enraged, the Holy Spirit King could not help bursting into curses.
