I Arrived At Wizard World While Cultivating Immortality Chapter 943: Post-War Arrangements, a New Goal
Previously on I Arrived At Wizard World While Cultivating Immortality...
Once the parasite beasts had fallen, the whole land finally went quiet.
Jie Ming hovered in midair, his gaze sweeping over the ground below.
The vast Black Giant legion and Tentacle Tree fleet he had just summoned were clearing the battlefield.
Jie Ming opened a communication, and very soon Carl’s somewhat weary figure surfaced in the light screen.
His face was clearly a good deal paler than before.
“Carl, how are things on your end?”
“Everything’s stable now.”
Carl took a deep breath, then showed a trace of a relieved smile.
“The control that was taken from me has come back, and the Plane Origin is back to normal too. Right now I’m using the techniques you gave me to firm up my hold on the Plane Origin again. It’ll take a little time, but there won’t be any more problems.”
“That’s good.”
Jie Ming nodded, and only then did he relax.
He had been worried that something might have slipped through the net, or that the parasite might have left a fallback hidden somewhere even more concealed.
Now it seemed that, at the very least, this plane’s greatest threat for the time being had been dealt with.
Carl gave another wry laugh. “Still, after all this, I think it’d be best if you found someone to take over control of the Plane Origin from me. After all, nobody knows what else those creatures have up their sleeves.”
“All right. Once the battlefield’s cleaned up I’ll come over to you. Oh, and have that kid Jack come over to you as well.”
“What for?”
“To remodel your bodies.”
Carl froze for a moment.
Jie Ming did not explain much further and simply closed the communication.
Not long afterwards.
Jie Ming arrived at the human camp from before, where he met Carl and Jack, who had come hurrying over.
Jack was plainly still a bit baffled.
“Teacher… this body remodelling you mentioned is…?”
“Simply put, I’m going to remodel you into the standard human constitution that genuinely suits wizard civilisation. That way you’ll be able to learn wizard civilisation’s methods of cultivation.”
“That’s fantastic!” Jack was very excited; he had obviously been looking forward to this for a long time.
Even Carl was a little eager. “What do we need to prepare?”
“There’s nothing much to prepare. It’ll be over very quickly. Just don’t resist my power.”
As he spoke, Jie Ming raised his hand and worked alchemy on the two of them.
For Jie Ming as he was now, this kind of remodelling had long since stopped being a complicated operation.
In mere moments, the life structures of both men had been adjusted.
From this moment on, their bodies truly belonged to the system of wizard civilisation.
Jack clenched his fist a few times, but felt no earth-shaking change.
Carl likewise closed his eyes and felt it out for a while.
“You won’t feel much. You were a human subspecies to begin with, so after the remodelling, the basic way your life functions hasn’t changed very much,” Jie Ming said.
“But you can practise a meditation method now. The two of you have already signed the contract anyway, so you can go and try cultivating.”
“Oh! Right, Teacher, then I’ll go cultivate first!” Jack eagerly found a quiet house and ducked inside.
Carl also bowed to Jie Ming, and in the end he too went off to cultivate.
Meanwhile, Jie Ming fell deep into thought.
Jie Ming knew very well that, although the parasite’s threat had been eliminated, this plane’s situation from here on would only grow more and more dangerous.
The plane cluster was still evolving, and those higher civilisations would not give up their designs on the passage to the Central World over a single failure.
None of this was much of anything to a wizard, but to these humans it was far too dangerous. The humans could not be left here.
Jie Ming thought it over, then opened a communication directly and contacted Dean Avery Knight.
When the light screen lit up, Avery was sitting in his office leafing through documents. Seeing Jie Ming’s communication request, a flicker of surprise crossed his eyes.
“Jie Ming? Have you finished dealing with things on your end?”
“Dean Avery, not yet. Things here have only just got started.” Jie Ming gave a brief report of the situation, then made his request.
“I need the academy’s help resettling a group of humans. Roughly several hundred million people. They’ll need collective racial remodelling to bring them up to the standard of the wizard world’s humans.”
The smile on Avery’s face at once grew more obvious:
“Ha! That’s simple enough. You’ve actually done me a big favour!”
“The academy holds too many planes right now, and empty planes have always been a problem. We can mark out a region for them.”
He gave his approval on the spot, and proposed that an artificial human administrative team could take over the follow-up resettlement and education work.
Jie Ming then brought up Jack and Carl, intending to have the two of them sign contracts with the academy and then study just like ordinary wizard apprentices.
“Carl?” Avery’s eyes lit up at the sound of the name.
“Going by the data you provided earlier, he already has strength approaching that of an elite seventh-level wizard. Talent like that is rare.”
“If he goes through systematic study and training in wizard civilisation… his future would be boundless! Perhaps in ten thousand years or so the Noren Workshop could have one more eighth-level wizard.”
A potential eighth-level wizard was a precious asset worth pouring resources into for any power.
Dean Avery Knight agreed without a second word, and even began weighing up which Mentor he ought to place Carl under.
Before long, Noren Academy No. 147 had already prepared a plane for the resettlement.
When Jack and Carl came through the spatial passage to the plane Noren Academy No. 147 had prepared for them, the two of them were both stunned by the sight before them.
The plane’s sky was a gentle pale blue, and sunlight spilled down through thin clouds with just the right amount of warmth.
The city was built among plains and hills. Its architecture was simple, its streets wide and tidy, and artificial human cleaning crews were patrolling automatically.
In the distance, farmland and orchards lay in neat rows, and ripe crops swayed gently in the breeze.
The air was filled with the scent of soil and green grass, completely unlike the grey, desolate, despair-filled world of Jack’s memories.
What was more, there was free education, free medical care, and free basic food and lodging.
Because artificial humans served as the senior administrators over ordinary people, there was no need at all to worry about any injustice from officials.
If ordinary people wanted to climb higher, there was a clear path upward as well.
All they had to do was pass an assessment, and they could go on to higher levels of study and training, and gain better resources and opportunities.
“This is simply paradise.”
Jack stood on the balcony of the apartment he had been assigned, watching the children who had only just arrived in their new surroundings chasing and playing in the park downstairs, and could not help murmuring it aloud.
Carl stood beside him, silent for a long time.
On the old man’s weathered face was an expression that was very hard to describe.
He had guarded humanity for several thousand years, and had seen far too much suffering and despair.
And all of this before his eyes was a sight he had never once imagined he would live to see.
“Let’s go.” Carl finally patted Jack on the shoulder. “Once we’ve signed the contracts, it’s time we went to class too.”
…
…
Jie Ming did not linger long at Noren Academy No. 147.
Once he had settled the humans, along with Jack and Carl, he returned to Jack’s plane through the spatial passage.
Viola was already waiting for him at the mouth of the passage, a trace of a satisfied smile in her eyes.
“All sorted?”
“All sorted.” Jie Ming nodded.
“Then I’ll head back first.” Viola stretched lazily. “There’s a pile of things waiting for me to deal with over on that plane I found. Next time there’s something good like this, call me again.”
Her farewells said, she turned and stepped onto the spatial rift back home, and her figure disappeared into the light.
Jie Ming turned to look at Augusta.
She was leaning against a rock beside the passage, her long black hair stirring lightly in the wind, turning over in her hand a rune fragment she had pried off an angel’s battle armour.
Noticing Jie Ming’s gaze, she looked up.
“I’ve got nothing on,” she said flatly. “I’ve finished the family’s tasks and I’m free for a while. What are you doing next?”
“I’m planning to go on and take on the Holy Spirit plane,” Jie Ming said.
Augusta tucked the rune fragment into her pocket and straightened up off the rock. “Then I’ll come with you.”
“Sure, it’d be my honor!” Jie Ming did not refuse.
With her along, his chances of taking the Holy Spirit plane would be a great deal better.
Jie Ming first went to look over the final stages of the ruins excavation.
The Black Giant priests had more or less finished clearing the core laboratory area, and it was waiting to be shipped back to the Infernal Sulfur Plane for further research.
Once he had confirmed that everything was in order, Jie Ming took out the Holy Spirit race’s spatial passage he had sealed earlier, and began analysing the spatial coordinates and law parameters within it.
