I Arrived At Wizard World While Cultivating Immortality Chapter 815: A Scalding Haul

~7 minute read · 1,650 words

Because they fled so fast, Jie Ming was left with only two living tripe-creatures in the end; the rest he swatted offhandedly into a sky full of blood mist.

In fact even those two lived only because both were at the seventh level, so a couple of swats from Jie Ming left them injured rather than dead.

Jie Ming looked at the two that remained, reached out and grasped, and the two tripe-creatures were pinched in the Dharma Form’s hand like a pair of chicks.

One of them struggled wildly, but its body went on burning under the Trigram Fire Annihilation Divine Light regardless.

The other kept its eyes squeezed shut, plainly having already grasped how this ended.

Jie Ming had no intention of wasting words on them either, and simply cast the soul-system spell “Soul Search.”

Under the spell’s influence his mental energy became countless fine threads that pierced deep into their souls.

Great quantities of information were stripped layer by layer out of the depths of those souls, and countless memory fragments were rapidly pieced together before Jie Ming’s eyes.

Before long, the whole course of events was entirely clear.

The origin of the matter was much as Jie Ming had guessed: it was all because of that Reflection Prism.

Just as the tripe-creature had let slip while mocking the Multiracial Alliance squad, the tripe race had in fact once produced a ninth-level existence.

It was only that this ninth-level ancestor had left the clan an age ago, gone deep into the Endless Chaotic Void to explore higher levels of the world, and never been heard from since.

And the one thing this ninth-level existence had left behind was this Reflection Prism.

So the Reflection Prism was a genuine ninth-level creation.

Its effect was just as Jie Ming had seen: it could open a passage to the Reflection Dimension directly, without consuming any additional energy at all.

Whether using the dimensional differential between the two dimensions as an attack to annihilate the overwhelming majority of enemies, or entering the Reflection Dimension by special means once the passage was open, both were achievable.

And on the defensive side, having been blessed by that ninth-level existence, the Reflection Prism also had the property of being indestructible.

Against reasonably precise single-target attacks, it could serve perfectly well as a shield.

It was simply that Jie Ming’s Dharma Form finger had been far too large, and the tripe-creature’s own body too big as well, so there had been no way to fit itself entirely behind the Reflection Prism, and it had had to take the blow head-on.

Otherwise that fight would have been genuinely awkward.

On value alone, this Reflection Prism far surpassed the miniature energy device Jie Ming had captured from those octopus-men earlier.

That one had been a ninth-level creation too, but it was only a power supply that could produce energy from nothing, and its output was limited.

The Reflection Prism, on the other hand, was a ninth-level creation that could genuinely serve as a “weapon,” which made it a true strategic-grade weapon.

But if that were all the Reflection Prism was, its value would hardly be enough for that Multiracial Alliance squad to be willing to send out an eighth-level existence and stop at nothing to take it.

Those squads had even intended to exterminate the entire race in order to seal off the news completely.

Still less would it be reason enough for the tripe race to risk offending the Multiracial Alliance to silence their enemies and give nothing away.

Having probed the relevant information, Jie Ming could not help his own eyes going wide. “This thing… holy shit!”

What truly made this Reflection Prism precious was a body of information sealed away in its deepest part.

The reason the tripe race’s ninth-level ancestor had been able to advance to the ninth level was that he had entered the Reflection Dimension and obtained the ability of wish-fulfillment.

Using that ability as a foundation he had kept expanding, and had finally obtained the ability of creation from nothing as well, and thereby advanced to the ninth level!

In the earliest days, the Reflection Prism had in fact been the tool that ninth-level existence used to open the Reflection Dimension.

And it was for this reason that recorded inside the Reflection Prism was that ninth-level ancestor’s complete record of advancement from the eighth level to the ninth!

This was a proper record of advancement!

Not a few scattered lines or a theoretical extrapolation, but the entire process by which a being who had genuinely stepped into the ninth level of life went from beginning to look for his breakthrough to succeeding at last!

Although what it mostly recorded was failure after failure and the adjustments made after each, it still preserved all of that experience, whole and intact.

Having confirmed that memory once more, Jie Ming felt his very breathing stop.

A record of the experience of advancing to the ninth level.

Honestly, on the strength of those words alone, the value of this Reflection Prism could no longer be measured in any resource whatsoever!

You could even say that across the whole Endless Chaotic Void, things of this kind could be counted on one’s fingers!

Even within wizard civilization, every ninth-level record of advancement was extraordinarily precious material, divided into countless portions, and the price of each single portion was an astronomical figure!

And even so, wizard civilization already counted among the more enlightened civilizations of the entire Endless Chaotic Void.

After all, a treasure like that had a completely open and transparent channel of exchange, which was unimaginable even to many civilizations that possessed multiple ninth-level existences!

Only now did Jie Ming fully understand why the two sides had been willing to fight so brutal an ambush over this Reflection Prism.

You could say that after this battle, the entire tripe-creature race had no high-end combat power above the sixth level left at all. The cost was nothing short of catastrophic.

Jie Ming slowly withdrew his mental energy, thought for a while, and then sighed helplessly.

In his palm, the two tripe-creatures turned to ash with that sigh and dispersed entirely.

Jie Ming raised a hand, and the Reflection Prism drifted slowly into the Dharma Form’s palm.

Looking at this spoil of war, though, Jie Ming had something of a headache. “Troublesome… this thing is a bit too scalding to hold.”

But however scalding it was, throwing it away was out of the question. Not in this lifetime!

His thinking now was exactly the same as that of the tripe-creature race and the Multiracial Alliance combat squad before him: nobody could be allowed to learn that he had obtained this treasure!

If that news got out, a great crowd of eighth-level wizards would probably come for him.

Having wiped out the two tripe-creatures, Jie Ming was still not at ease. He opened the True-False Void-Piercing Pupil, then the Fate Subsystem, and brought the Fate Law to bear.

Controlling his own line of sight by force to be sure he would not see the information of the Endless Chaotic Void around him, Jie Ming then began combing bit by bit through the fate upon himself.

Once he was certain that his obtaining this thing really had been an accident rather than some trap laid by another, Jie Ming began carefully severing the fate of this region as well, to be sure no one would discover the thing was in his hands.

At the same time, Jie Ming used the Causal Trace Shadow Technique to search out every scrap of information left in the area.

Whether or not that information had anything to do with him, he erased as much of it as he could.

It should be said that thanks to that Multiracial Alliance combat squad, Jie Ming did not have to worry much about other remnants of the tripe race.

Apart from this group of high-end combat power, every lower-level tripe-creature had already been wiped out completely by that squad.

After all, the reason the Multiracial Alliance combat squad had been able to get hold of the Reflection Prism in the first place was that they had launched their attack while the tripe race’s high-end combat power was away.

To silence them, the whole tripe race had very nearly been annihilated.

Of course, from the souls of those two tripe-creatures Jie Ming learned that they had also arranged for several of their kin to go into hiding.

If they did not return with the Reflection Prism within a set time, the information about it would be spread abroad.

Jie Ming had no intention of dealing with that group.

For one thing, apparently having considered that their souls might be searched, those hidden tripe-creatures had chosen their own hiding places, and these two did not know the exact locations.

After all this time, even the Fate Law would have trouble finding them.

And even if he found them, that would not necessarily stop the information from being released; there is no shortage of means when someone truly wants to put something out.

For another, those tripe-creatures did not know Jie Ming existed at all, so the information they released would in fact cover for him.

Whereas if Jie Ming chose to act, he might well ruin things by being too clever.

He spent a few days on it, and finally raised a chaotic storm in the void to bury the whole region, before Jie Ming departed carrying that enormous prism, black through and through, as though carved out of obsidian.
