His innocent wife is a dangerous hacker. Chapter 941 Why are you crying?
Previously on His innocent wife is a dangerous hacker....
Leo listened carefully. He followed every word, making sure he understood exactly where to place his hands.
Finally, he leaned forward and carefully picked up his son, who was lying closest to him.
The tiny boy fit so easily into his arms that Leo’s heart nearly stopped.
His little face was still wrinkled from birth, his skin slightly reddish and his tiny nose looked almost impossibly delicate.
Leo stared at him.
That was his first thought.
He blinked, examining the baby’s face with an expression of deep concentration.
Then he remembered. Newborn babies often looked a little different immediately after birth and their appearance would gradually change as they adjusted to life outside the womb.
Ah. He’ll look different after some time.
Apparently satisfied with this explanation, Leo continued studying his son.
Then the baby moved.
His tiny fingers twitched against the blanket and his little face scrunched up as though he had just discovered that being born into the world was a rather unpleasant experience.
Leo immediately froze.
"What happened?"
The midwife glanced over.
"Nothing, Mr. Moretti. He’s moving."
Leo looked down again, still holding the baby carefully.
And then, as if sensing the warmth of the person holding him, the newborn slowly opened his eyes.
Leo stopped breathing for a second.
Two beautiful brown eyes looked up at him.
They were still sleepy and unfocused, as newborn eyes often were but there was something about their color that made Leo’s heart skip a beat.
Brown
His son’s eyes were the same beautiful brown as his mother’s.
"Oh my..."
The sound escaped Leo before he could stop himself.
The baby made a tiny complaining noise.
"Oww..."
It wasn’t quite a cry, just a little sound from his small mouth as he shifted in his father’s arms.
Leo immediately looked concerned.
"What’s wrong, little one?"
The baby blinked slowly, his tiny eyes still turned in Leo’s general direction.
Leo stared back at him.
And then his expression softened in a way that very few people in the world had ever witnessed.
"Oh my God..."
He couldn’t stop looking at those eyes.
He got Bella’s eyes.
His Bella’s beautiful eyes.
The same eyes he loved watching whenever she looked at him with affection. The same eyes that became especially expressive whenever she was plotting something mischievous. The same eyes that filled with tears whenever she became emotional.
Now, a tiny pair of brown eyes was looking up at him from his arms.
His son had Bella’s eyes.
Leo swallowed, feeling an unfamiliar tightness in his throat.
He had expected to feel happiness when he finally met his child. He had expected to feel love, pride and the overwhelming urge to protect him.
But he hadn’t expected to feel this much from something as small as a pair of eyes opening.
His son was barely a few minutes old and Leo already felt as though the entire world had changed around him.
The baby made another little sound, his tiny lips moving before he settled against the blanket again.
Leo instinctively adjusted his hold, making sure the baby’s head remained supported.
"Easy, little one," he murmured. "I’ve got you."
Leo lowered his face slightly, studying his son’s eyes one more time.
"Your mother gave you her eyes, huh?" he whispered.
The baby responded with another tiny, uncertain sound.
Leo’s lips curved into a smile.
"Good choice, little one."
He glanced toward Bella, who was still resting with her eyes closed and his expression softened even further.
"Your mumma has the prettiest eyes in the world."
Then he looked back at his son. "And now you have them too."
The little boy moved in his father’s arms and looked in Leo’s general direction with an innocent expression.
Leo lowered his head, studying his son’s tiny face with an expression that no one in the room would have believed possible from the feared head of the Moretti family.
"What’s that look for, little one?" he murmured, brushing his thumb gently against the baby’s tiny hand. "You’re already judging your father?"
The baby blinked slowly.
Leo’s lips curved into a small smile.
"Just like your mother."
He was so absorbed in his son that he almost forgot everyone else was in the room.
.
Because suddenly, a loud cry broke through the peaceful moment.
"Waaah! Waaah!"
Leo startled so badly that his eyes immediately snapped toward the other side of the bed.
His daughter had begun crying.
For a brief second, he looked between the little boy in his arms and the tiny girl lying beside Bella, seemingly unsure of what to do first.
Leo carefully returned his son to the waiting midwife and reached for his daughter.
"What’s wrong, Princess?" he asked, gently lifting her into his arms. "Why are you crying?"
The moment she settled against his chest, the crying stopped...What just like that?
Leo froze.
The midwife blinked in surprise, while the others exchanged bewildered looks. Only a few seconds ago, the little girl had been crying as though the entire world had offended her. Now, nestled in her father’s arms, she was perfectly content.
Leo looked down at her.
His daughter looked back at him with her tiny face and she had big blue eyes with a brown ring, her little mouth still slightly open from crying.
"...What?"
He glanced at the midwife as though he expected her to explain what had just happened.
The midwife, however, seemed far more amused than concerned.
"Looks like your baby girl got jealous of her brother while you were holding him," she said with a chuckle. "You’ve got yourself a clingy daughter, Mr. Moretti."
Leo looked at his daughter again.
Jealous?
His daughter was only minutes old, and she was already jealous of her own brother?
He glanced toward the little boy, who was now resting safely in the midwife’s arms, before returning his attention to the tiny girl against his chest.
"Princess," he murmured, his voice full of disbelief, "you can’t possibly be jealous already."
The baby answered by moving one of her little hands.
Her tiny fingers opened and closed clumsily before her hand slowly lifted toward his face, as if she were trying to touch him.
Leo went completely still.
The little hand wavered in the air, barely reaching his chin.
Then her fingers brushed against his skin and his heart melted.
His face softened so suddenly that it was almost as if thousands of flowers had bloomed all at once. The hard lines of his expression disappeared, his gray eyes warmed and a helpless smile spread across his lips.
Everyone in the room noticed.
The midwife pressed her lips together, trying not to laugh at the sight of the dangerous Leonardo Moretti looking as though his tiny daughter had just given him the greatest gift in the world.
Perhaps she had.
Leo bent his head a little closer, allowing the baby to touch his face more easily.
"Is that what you wanted, Princess?" he whispered. "You wanted Papa to hold you?"
The little girl made a soft, breathy sound.
"Awaa..."
