Bella begins to feel insecure about Leo's affection after noticing he has stopped initiating intimacy, despite still being affectionate in other ways. She questions if her pregnancy has made her less desirable to him. When Leo returns home, he is preoccupied with his phone and doesn't notice Bella's chosen dress or her efforts to feel wanted. Overwhelmed by her insecurities, Bella tells Leo she wants a divorce, though she doesn't mean it. Leo, confused and concerned, tries to understand why she is upset, and Bella eventually confesses that she believes he no longer loves her because he doesn't touch her like before.

Hearing her words. His expression changed immediately.

All those weeks when he had deliberately kept his distance, thinking he was protecting her and the baby, Bella had interpreted it completely differently.

She had thought he was rejecting her.

Leo’s eyes softened with guilt. "Is that what you’ve been thinking all this time?"

Bella nodded, her tears slipping down her cheeks. "You used to look at me differently."

She swallowed hard. "You used to want to be close to me all the time. You used to touch me, kiss me, tease me..."

Her voice broke. "Now you stop yourself."

Leo’s chest tightened.

"Even when I come close to you, you become careful."

She looked down at her stomach. "I know my body is changing. I know I’m getting bigger. Maybe I’m not as pretty as before."

Leo immediately shook his head. "Don’t say that."

"But maybe you don’t find me attractive anymore."

Leo moved closer.

"Bella."

She finally looked at him.

Leo gently cupped her face in both hands. "How could you possibly think that?"

Bella’s lips trembled.

"Because you don’t touch me like before."

Leo closed his eyes for a moment, realizing just how badly his distance to protect her and the baby had allowed her insecurity to grow.

He gently wiped her tears away with his thumb. "I thought I was doing the right thing."

Bella blinked.

"Every time I stopped myself, it wasn’t because I didn’t want you."

He leaned closer and kissed her forehead. "It was because I wanted to be careful."

Another kiss landed against her cheek. "You’re pregnant, Bunny."

His voice is gentle as a cello.

"Your body is going through so many changes, you’re exhausted half the time, and sometimes you don’t even feel well. I was afraid that if I got carried away, I might make you uncomfortable."

Bella stared at him.

"So... you still want me?"

Leo gave her an almost incredulous look. "You seriously thought I stopped wanting you?"

Bella looked away shyly.

"I didn’t know."

Leo’s expression softened.

He gently turned her face back toward him. "Then you should have told me."

Bella’s eyes became wet again. "I was embarrassed."

"Embarrassed?" He asked raising brows in confusion.

Bella nodded.

"I thought maybe you would think I was being silly."

Leo gave a small, helpless smile. "so...You’re crying because you thought your husband doesn’t love you anymore and you’re worried about sounding silly?"

Bella sniffled, her eyes still slightly watery. Her nose was pink and her lashes were still clumped together from the tears.

"It sounded silly in my head too."

Leo couldn’t help smiling softly. The corners of his mouth tugged upward and the tension in his shoulders finally eased.

He leaned forward and kissed her forehead again, his lips warm against her skin. He stayed there for a moment, breathing her in.

"You’re carrying our baby, your emotions are all over the place and you’ve been sitting here convincing yourself that I don’t love you because I didn’t touch you."

Bella’s cheeks turned pink. The color spread down her neck and up to the tips of her ears.

She lowered her gaze, feeling embarrassed. Her fingers picked at the blanket, twisting the fabric nervously.

"I am sorry," she murmured.

Leo gently brushed a few strands of hair away from her face.

Bella hesitated before quietly adding, "I even thought about divorcing you."

Leo’s smile disappeared immediately.

His eyes widened and a flash of hurt and panic crossed his face. His whole body went rigid and his hand stilled against her cheek.

"What?"

Bella looked at him nervously. She could see the change in his expression, his jaw tightened and his eyes darkened.

"I was just upset and—"

"Don’t."

Leo immediately reached for her hands. He grabbed them both, holding them tightly in his own.

"Don’t divorce me."

His voice came out much quicker than usual.

Bella blinked. She had never heard him sound like that before.

Leo stared at her seriously. His gray eyes were intense, boring into hers.

"No. Don’t even think about it."

"I wasn’t really going to..."

"I know."

His fingers tightened gently around hers. "But I still don’t like hearing you say it."

Bella looked at him quietly. She could feel the tension in his grip, the way his thumbs pressed against her knuckles.

Leo lowered his gaze for a moment, trying to compose himself. He took a slow breath, then another.

"You can be angry with me. You can complain about me. You can tell me that I’m being insensitive and I’ll listen."

He looked back into her eyes.

"But don’t casually put divorce between us whenever you’re feeling hurt."

Bella’s expression softened. She could see how much her careless words had affected him. His hands were still trembling slightly and his breathing was uneven.

"I am sorry."

"I know." Leo sighed quietly.

Then, after a moment, his expression became slightly calmer. The tension in his jaw eased and his grip on her hands loosened just a little.

"And if you ever have another argument with yourself at three in the morning and decide that divorcing me is the solution..."

Bella looked at him.

Leo continued with complete seriousness.

"Please choose another solution."

Bella blinked.

"Like what?"

"Anything other than divorce."

His answer was so flat that Bella stared at him for a moment.

Leo’s mouth twitched faintly. The ghost of a smile appeared at the corner of his lips.

"You can wake me up. You can complain. You can cry. You can even throw a pillow at me if you really need to."

Bella’s lips slowly curved upward.

"But don’t decide to end our marriage while I’m away and then inform me about it later."

Bella gave a small watery laugh.

Leo looked at her with a tired expression. His eyes were still slightly wide, still processing the scare she had given him.

"I’m serious."

"I know." He gently squeezed her hands again.

"I love you, Bella. I don’t want a life without you and I certainly don’t want to wake up one morning and discover that my wife has divorced me because she decided I didn’t touch her enough."
