Jack believes he is about to negotiate a private settlement with Leo and Bella. The principal warns Jack that he is walking into a trap, but Jack, blinded by greed and arrogance, dismisses the warning. He eagerly agrees to settle privately, expecting to extort money from them, and follows them to their cars, confident in his impending windfall.

Jack walked toward it, his chin lifted slightly as he approached the car.

The rear door opened for him, and he stepped inside. The moment he sat down, the soft leather seat sank comfortably beneath him. His eyes wandered around the spotless interior, taking in the luxurious finish.

He couldn’t help himself.

"So this is how rich people travel..."

He ran his fingers lightly along the edge of the seat, feeling the smooth texture beneath his fingertips. His gaze moved to the small refreshment bar built into the side panel, the crystal glasses neatly arranged in a row.

A greedy smile slowly appeared on his face. If this was merely another car from their collection, then he could only imagine how much money they had. His mind immediately started calculating. If they give me enough money, I could have something like this too.

He leaned back comfortably, stretching his legs out in front of him.

"Not bad."

Meanwhile, Leo and Bella’s car had already started moving ahead. The engine purred softly as the vehicle glided smoothly onto the road, its tires barely making a sound against the asphalt.

Jack’s car followed behind, maintaining a respectful distance. He watched their vehicle through the window for a moment, still convinced that he was heading toward a private negotiation that would leave him considerably richer than before. His fingers tapped against his knee in a satisfied rhythm, and his lips curved into a confident smirk.

The city slowly disappeared behind them. The buildings gave way to long stretches of trees, and the roads became quieter, emptier.

Meanwhile,

"How are you going to deal with him?" Bella asked Leo.

Her voice was quiet, but there was genuine curiosity in it. She had been watching Leo’s face for the past few minutes, reading the subtle changes in his expression.

Leo was looking out the window. He did not answer right away. His gray eyes were fixed on the passing trees but his mind was somewhere else entirely.

"What do you think?" he asked. A small smile appeared on his lips as he turned to look at her. It was not a warm smile.

Bella blinked. Then she shook her head.

"Just guess, Bunny," he said, and laughed quietly.

Bella looked at him for a moment. Then she began to think seriously. She knew her husband well enough by now to understand that he didn’t ask questions without reason. He was testing her, perhaps, or simply enjoying the conversation before whatever was about to happen.

"Maybe you will lock him in your basement," she said.

Leo chuckled. "Continue guessing."

Bella thought for a while. Her brow furrowed slightly, and she bit her lower lip as she considered the possibilities.

"Ummm..."

She hesitated. Her mind went through the things she had seen over the years. The things Leo had done. The things he was capable of.

"Maybe you will hurt him," she said quietly.

Leo tilted his head. His smile widened a little.

"Hurt him?" he repeated. "That is a very gentle way of saying it, Bunny."

Bella swallowed.

Leo leaned back in his seat. He looked out the window again. They had left the main road. The car was now moving through a narrow path lined with thick trees. The gates of the estate had opened without a sound and the trees formed a canopy overhead, blocking out most of the sunlight.

"You are thinking too small," Leo said. "Locking him in a basement. Hurting him. Those are temporary things."

Bella’s heart beat faster. "Then what?"

Leo did not answer right away. He reached over and took her hand. His fingers were warm against her skin. He lifted her hand and pressed a gentle kiss against her knuckles. It was a soft gesture, almost out of place given the cold look on his face.

"Jack made a terrible mistake," Leo said quietly. "He threatened my family. He frightened my son. He thought he could use Eli to get money from us."

His jaw tightened and the muscles in his neck tensed.

"That was his first mistake. His second mistake was thinking I would play by his rules."

Bella watched him. Her throat felt dry.

"He thinks he is going to negotiate with us," Leo said. "Clearly he thinks he holds all the cards."

A cold smile spread across his lips.

"But he does not understand something, Bunny. He does not understand who he is dealing with. He thinks I am just a rich businessman. He thinks I am someone he can threaten. Someone he can control. Someone he can squeeze money out of."

His voice dropped lower, becoming almost a whisper.

"He has no idea that he just walked into the wolf’s den."

Bella stared at him. "So what are you going to do?"

Leo turned to look at her. His gray eyes were cold and flat. There was no emotion in them, no warmth, no mercy.

"I am going to make him disappear," Leo said simply.

Bella’s breath caught. "You mean..." She was used to this side of him but still she felt a little bit scared. However, she knew his work couldn’t allow him to be weak, and she would always support him.

"No," Leo said. "Not that. Not yet."

He glanced toward the front of the car. The driver and the guards sat in silence, their eyes fixed on the road ahead. They had been trained to hear nothing, to see nothing, to speak nothing. But even they seemed to sit a little straighter.

Then his gaze returned to Bella.

"Death is too easy, Bunny. It is quick. It is clean. It is merciful." His voice was calm. "Jack does not deserve mercy. He does not deserve a quick end. He deserves to suffer. He deserves to understand what he did."

Leo’s eyes flashed with coldness. He remembered the investigation report. Eli and his birth mother had suffered a lot under his hand and he would definitely not let this man go.

Bella’s skin prickled.

Leo’s hand tightened around hers. It was not a comforting gesture. It was possessive.

"I am going to take everything from him," Leo said quietly. "His freedom. His pride. His hope. His mind. I am going to make him wish he had never heard the name Eli. I am going to make him wish he had never been born."

He paused.

"And then... when there is nothing left of him, when he is nothing but a shell, a broken shell of a man... then I might consider letting him die."
