Ashton apologizes to Bella and Leo for his past jealousy and mistreatment, expressing a desire to start over and be family. Leo remains cautious but accepts the apology, warning Ashton not to repeat his behavior. Jacob and Roman do not participate in the reconciliation. Later, Bella questions Ashton's sincerity to Leo, who advises patience, stating that actions will reveal true intentions. Bella finds comfort in Leo's reassurance, deciding to let Ashton prove himself.

"You should be careful with that word," Leo murmured.

Bella blinked.

"Why?"

"Because you hardly ever call me hubby."

He gently rested his chin against the top of her head, his voice becoming suspiciously amused.

"You only remember that particular name when you want something from me."

Bella tried very hard to keep a straight face but the corners of her lips betrayed her.

"That’s exactly why it’s rare," she admitted, giggling.

Leo stared at her for a second.

Then he rolled his eyes.

"Unbelievable."

Bella hugged him even tighter, clearly pleased with herself.

"I don’t know what you’re talking about."

"Oh, you know exactly what you’re doing."

He lightly pinched her cheek.

"I know all your tactics, wifey."

Bella immediately looked up at him with an innocent expression.

"My tactics?"

"Yes."

"What tactics?"

Leo raised one eyebrow.

"The sweet voice. The innocent face. The sudden ’hubby’ whenever you want something."

Bella’s lips twitched.

"I don’t do that."

"You do."

"I don’t."

"You do it."

She burst into laughter, hiding her face against his chest.

Leo shook his head, but a small smile had already appeared on his lips. After watching her laugh for a moment, his expression softened and his curiosity finally won over.

"Okay, be honest, Bella. Are you happy with Grandpa’s decision?"

Bella looked at him, slightly surprised by the question.

"Why are you asking?"

"Because everyone thought you’d receive a much larger part of his property," Leo said, watching her carefully. "Some people were even expecting Grandpa to leave most of his wealth to you."

Bella became thoughtful for a moment. She looked out through the car window, watching the city lights slip past them in a blur of gold and silver, before turning back toward him with a gentle smile.

"Actually..." she began softly, "I’m not just happy. I’m very happy."

Leo raised his eyebrow.

"Really?"

Bella nodded.

"Really."

She gently played with his fingers as she continued, her voice becoming more thoughtful, more reflective.

"Grandpa gave me the old mansion, some shares, and other things but honestly, Leo, I don’t think wealth is everything."

She paused, searching for the right words to express what she felt.

"I know money can make life easier. It can give us comfort, security, opportunities and freedom. I’m grateful for everything Grandpa left me, because I know he gave those things to me with love. But I don’t want to measure his love by how much he gave me."

Leo remained silent, listening carefully.

Bella looked down at their intertwined hands.

"If Grandpa had given me everything but I never got to know him, I would still feel empty."

Her eyes became slightly emotional, glistening under the soft glow of the passing streetlights.

"But he gave me something much more precious than property."

Leo’s expression softened.

"What?"

"Memories."

She smiled faintly, her eyes crinkling at the corners.

"I got to sit beside him. I got to listen to his stories. I got to laugh with him. He told me almost everything about his life, his challenges and his happiest moments."

Her voice trembled slightly.

"Those things don’t have a price."

She took a slow breath, steadying herself.

"And even if someone offered me all the money in the world, I couldn’t buy another evening with him."

Leo’s eyes remained fixed on her, his gaze warm and full of admiration.

Bella continued quietly.

"That’s why I’m happy with his decision. He gave everyone what they wanted, but he also gave everyone something they needed."

Leo’s eyebrow lifted slightly.

"What did he give them?"

"A lesson."

Bella smiled.

"He wanted them to understand that family shouldn’t become a competition. Maybe Jacob, Roman, and Ashton wanted the company and properties, and Grandpa knew that. So he gave them what they cared about."

She looked toward the window again, watching the city lights blur past.

"But then he asked them to protect me."

A tiny smile touched her lips.

"I think that was his way of reminding them that having a family is more valuable than owning a company."

Leo watched her quietly, his thumb gently tracing circles on the back of her hand.

Bella’s expression became peaceful, her voice soft and thoughtful.

"Sometimes people spend their whole lives collecting things because they’re afraid of losing everything. They collect money, houses, status, success..."

She turned toward him.

"But when their life is finally coming to an end, they don’t ask for their money to sit beside them."

"They ask for the people they love."

Leo didn’t interrupt. He listened to her carefully.

Bella rested her head against his shoulder.

"I think Grandpa understood that before it was too late."

For a few seconds, Leo simply looked down at her. The city lights continued to flicker past the window, casting soft shadows across her face.

Then he gently kissed the top of her head.

"You’ve become wise."

Bella smiled.

"I learned from Grandpa."

"And from me?"

She looked up at him with a playful expression.

"Maybe a little."

Leo narrowed his eyes.

"Only a little?"

Bella giggled and hugged his arm.

"Okay, a lot."

"Better."

She smiled against his shoulder, her voice becoming softer.

"I don’t need Grandpa’s entire fortune to know he loved me."

Her voice became even quieter, filled with emotion.

"I already knew that every time he called me his beautiful girl."

Leo smiled, his gaze warm as he looked down at her. Then he glanced up toward the night sky, where the stars were scattered across the darkness like tiny diamonds.

And Leo smiled as he thought, If you’re watching from the sky, Grandpa... she’s okay. I’ll always take care of her. I promise you.

The house was quiet when they came back.

Bella was very tired. The long evening had worn her out, and she could barely keep her eyes open by the time they reached their room. She changed into her nightclothes slowly, her movements heavy and slow. Within a few minutes of getting into bed, she was fast asleep.

Leo sat on the edge of the bed, watching her.

Her face looked peaceful in the dim light. Her lashes rested softly against her cheeks. A few strands of hair had fallen over her forehead. She looked peaceful while sleeping.

But his face was thoughtful.
