His innocent wife is a dangerous hacker. Chapter 890 Unbelievable

Ashton looked at Bella’s tearful eyes. "I know you probably don’t care about what Grandpa left us."
Bella gave a small shake of her head. "I don’t."
"I know." He smiled faintly, almost sadly. "That’s what makes this more difficult."
Bella frowned slightly. "What do you mean?"
Ashton lowered his gaze. "I... I’m sorry."
Bella’s eyes widened a little. The apology seemed to surprise even Leo.
Ashton continued quietly. "I know we haven’t exactly treated you like family." He swallowed. "Especially after Grandpa..." His voice became lower. "We were jealous."
Bella remained silent.
"We thought he was giving you everything because he loved you more." He gave a small, embarrassed laugh. "But apparently, we were so busy counting what you had that we never noticed what you gave him."
Bella looked at him.
Ashton looked back at her with a small smile. "You made him happy." He paused. "And I think... we forgot that was more important than the inheritance."
Bella didn’t know what to say. She looked down for a moment.
Then Ashton spoke again. "Grandpa’s letter..." He gave a small smile. "He really knew how to make us feel guilty even after he died."
Bella couldn’t help letting out a tiny laugh through her tears. "Yes... he did."
Ashton smiled. Then his expression became sincere again. "I don’t know if I can suddenly become a perfect cousin brother."
Bella’s eyes widened in shock and when she realised what he said, she shook her head gently. "I don’t expect that."
"I know." He took another breath. "But I can try."
Bella looked at him, still a bit taken aback. Is the sun rising from the wrong direction?
"Try what?" she asked cautiously.
"Being your family."
The words were simple. But something about them touched her, although she felt a flicker of suspicion. Is he doing this because he doesn’t want to lose his inheritance?
Ashton extended his hand awkwardly. "So..." He gave a nervous smile. "Can we start again?"
Bella stared at his hand for a few seconds before slowly smiling. She placed her hand in his. "Okay."
Ashton smiled with relief. "Okay."
Leo watched them quietly, and although his expression remained mostly unreadable.
Ashton released Bella’s hand and glanced towards Leo. "And..." He hesitated. "Sorry to you too."
Leo raised an eyebrow, his expression cold. "For what?"
"For looking at Bella like she was some kind of enemy."
Leo stared at him for a moment. Then he calmly replied, "Don’t do it again."
Although he didn’t trust this guy, he said it casually. After all, this guy had been maintaining distance and hating Bella, and a single letter could change him? Leo didn’t believe it.
Ashton immediately nodded. "I won’t."
Bella looked between them and smiled softly. Perhaps William hadn’t been able to bring his family together while he was alive. But even after his final goodbye, he had somehow managed to make them take the first step.
Jacob and Roman simply looked on hesitantly from the table. Jacob’s jaw tightened, and he seemed to be wrestling with something, but he didn’t move. Roman glanced away, crossing his arms as though shielding himself. Neither of them approached.
Bella waited for a moment, half hoping one of them might say something. But when they remained silent, she turned away and left with Leo.
Inside the luxurious car, the city lights passed quietly outside the tinted windows, their soft reflections moving across Bella’s face as she sat beside Leo. She remained thoughtful, her fingers absentmindedly playing with the edge of her sleeve while Ashton’s words kept returning to her mind.
After a long silence, she finally looked at Leo.
"Do you think he is genuine?"
Leo turned his head toward her.
For a few seconds, he simply studied her expression. He could tell she wasn’t asking because she desperately wanted Ashton to be trustworthy. She was asking because she genuinely didn’t know what to think, and somewhere inside her, she wanted to believe that William’s final wish might actually bring his family closer together.
Leo slowly leaned back against the seat.
"I can’t say anything right now."
His voice was calm but there was a certain seriousness behind it.
"The matter is sensitive, Bunny. One conversation isn’t enough to understand someone’s intentions, especially when inheritance and family are involved."
Bella nodded thoughtfully.
Leo looked out through the window for a moment before continuing.
"I think it’s better to let nature take its course."
"If he’s genuinely trying to become your family, you’ll see it through his actions eventually."
"And if he’s pretending..."
His expression gradually became colder.
"...then he’ll reveal himself sooner or later."
Bella looked at him.
"And then?"
Leo’s eyes returned to hers.
"Then I’ll deal with it in my own way."
His voice was quiet, almost casual but the look in his eyes made the meaning perfectly clear.
Bella knew him well enough to understand that he wasn’t making an empty threat.
She gently placed her hand over his.
"I think so too."
Leo glanced down at their hands and then back at her.
"You don’t have to decide anything tonight."
Bella nodded.
"I know."
She leaned her head against his shoulder, watching the city lights blur outside.
"I just... I don’t want Grandpa’s last wish to become another reason for everyone to fight."
Leo wrapped an arm around her and pulled her slightly closer.
"Then don’t worry about it."
"But what if—"
"Bunny."
His voice softened.
"Let people show you who they are."
Bella became quiet.
Leo gently brushed a strand of hair away from her face.
"You don’t have to trust someone immediately just because they say the right things. And you don’t have to reject them immediately because you’re afraid they might hurt you either."
He gave her a faint smile.
"Give them room to prove themselves."
Bella looked up at him for a moment, and then a wide, mischievous smile slowly spread across her face.
"Okaaay, I understand, hubby!" she said sweetly, immediately wrapping both arms around him and hugging him.
Leo let out a quiet chuckle, but the moment the word hubby left her lips, something changed in his expression. His amused eyes narrowed slightly, and a darker warmth appeared in his gaze as he looked down at the woman suddenly clinging to him so innocently.
