His innocent wife is a dangerous hacker. Chapter 848 Was she the spy?

"I’m dying," Samuel said, his voice flat and empty. He didn’t feel like living. He felt his end was so close and at this time all he felt was regret. He had never lived the life he wanted. He wished he had killed that bastard Pablo and had lived his life on his own terms.
Leo remained silent. His gray eyes studied Samuel’s face.
Samuel took a ragged breath.
"I asked you to come because I wanted to say something before I go." He paused, his voice growing weaker. "I know you don’t believe me. But I’m sorry, Leo...For everything...For Bella... For all of it."
Leo’s expression didn’t change.
"I loved her," Samuel whispered. "But I loved her the wrong way. I was obsessed.. I hurt her...I hurt you." His eyes glistened. "I was wrong."
Leo studied him for a long moment.
Then, quietly: "Why are you telling me this?"
Samuel smiled weakly. "Because I don’t want to die with nothing but hatred left in me."
He closed his eyes. "Take care of her, Leo."
Samuel’s breathing slowed.
It was like watching a candle flicker before the final flame goes out. His chest rose and fell in shallow, uneven gasps, each breath weaker than the last. His eyelids drooped, heavy and swollen, barely able to stay open.
His lips moved.
Leo leaned forward, his gray eyes sharp, his body tense.
"Samuel."
Samuel’s voice was barely a whisper, the words scraping out like they were being pulled from somewhere deep inside him. His eyes fluttered open one last time.
"I love Bella..." A faint, broken smile appeared on his bloodied lips. "If you can... take her away from this mansion..." He paused, struggling to draw breath. "...your house has a spy... planted by my fath-"
Leo’s heart stopped.
His jaw tightened. His hands clenched into fists. The words hit him like a physical blow.
"Who?" His voice was sharp, urgent. "Samuel—who is the spy?"
Samuel’s head slowly tilted to the side, his eyes staring at nothing. A faint, rattling breath escaped his lips.
Leo reached forward, grabbing Samuel’s shoulders, shaking him.
"Samuel! Tell me who it is!"
His head lolled back. His chest stilled.
Leo stared at him, his breath caught in his throat. He released Samuel’s shoulders and slowly sat back.
The room was silent.
Leo looked at Samuel’s pale, lifeless face. He had died with the secret on his lips.
He stood up abruptly, his fists clenched at his sides.
He walked out of the room without looking back.

The moment Leo stepped out of the basement, his phone buzzed urgently in his pocket.
He pulled it out, his eyes narrowing at the caller ID. One of his men.
He answered sharply. "What?"
"Sir, we have a situation."
Leo’s jaw tightened. "Explain."
"Bella ma’am just left the mansion. She’s with Clara, the head housekeeper. They appear to be going shopping."
Leo’s blood ran cold. His hand tightened around the phone.
"Bella?" His voice was dangerously low. "She’s not in any condition to go shopping. She barely recognizes anyone except me."
"Yes, sir. She seemed... unwell. She was holding a stuffed toy and wearing an oversized jacket. The way she moved, she looked excited. Clara had to help her into the car. I just got this news right away and I informed you as soon as I could."
Leo’s pupils dilated. His breathing quickened. A cold, sharp fear gripped his chest.
Bella’s condition wasn’t good. She was fragile, confused, barely able to recognize anyone except him.
She wouldn’t have asked to go shopping.
She couldn’t have.
His voice rose, sharp and commanding. "Prepare the car! Now! I want every available man tracking her location. I want to know exactly where she is, and if anything’s happened to her—"
He didn’t finish the sentence.
He ran toward the exit, his heart pounding, His mind churning with worst-case scenarios.
Samuel’s final words echoed in his mind.
He hoped it was just him being overly cautious and sensitive.
He reached the car, his men already waiting, the engine running.
"Go," he ordered, his voice cold as steel. "Track her. Now."
The car shot forward, speeding through the city streets.
Leo’s hands were clenched into fists on his knees. His gray eyes burned with barely contained anger.

"Where is Leo... where are you taking me?" Bella asked curiously as Aunt Clara led her toward an old, weathered building.
The structure stood at the end of a quiet street, its brick facade darkened with age, the windows grimy and covered in dust. Vines crept up the walls and the front door looked like it hadn’t been opened in years. It didn’t look like a place Leo would ever be.
Clara’s voice was gentle, almost too gentle. "Leo is inside, sweetheart. He’s waiting for you. He wanted to surprise you."
Bella tilted her head, her brow furrowing slightly. "Surprise me?"
"Yes, dear. He’s been planning something special. He asked me to bring you here."
Bella’s eyes softened. A small, trusting smile appeared on her face.
"Oh... okay."
She nodded and followed Clara inside, clutching Moonbeam tightly against her chest.
The interior of the building was dimly lit, the air thick with dust and the smell of old wood. Faint light filtered through cracked windows, casting long shadows across the floor. Old furniture covered in white sheets lined the walls and the floorboards creaked beneath their feet.
Bella looked around, her eyes wide and curious.
"Leo?" she called out softly. "Are you here?"
She looked at Clara, her expression uncertain. "Where is he?"
Clara smiled gently, placing a hand on Bella’s shoulder. "He’s just through that door, sweetheart. Go ahead. He’s waiting for you."
Bella hesitated for just a moment. Then she nodded and walked toward the door Clara had pointed at.
She pushed it open.
The room was empty.
Bella’s heart sank. She turned back, her eyes searching for Clara. "He’s not here..."
But Clara was no longer standing in the hallway.
The door clicked shut behind her.
Bella’s breath caught in her throat. Her grip on Moonbeam tightened.
"Clara?" she called out, her voice trembling. "Clara, where are you?"
.
Bella’s heart began to pound. She looked around the room, her eyes darting from corner to corner. The walls were bare, the floor dusty. A single window let in a sliver of gray light.
She walked back to the door and tried to open it.
It was locked.
"Leo..." she whispered, her voice cracking. "Leo, I’m scared..."
Tears welled in her eyes. She pressed her back against the wall, hugging Moonbeam to her chest, her breathing becoming shallow and rapid.
She didn’t understand.
Clara had said Leo was here. Why had she lied? Why had she locked her in?
"Leo..." she sobbed softly, her voice cracking like fragile glass. "Where are you, Leo?!"
She called out again, her voice rising with panic. "Leo! Leo, please take me out of here!!"
But only silence answered her.
The room was cold and empty. Dust motes floated in the thin sliver of gray light that crept through the grimy window. The walls seemed to close in around her, pressing against her fragile body.
Bella’s legs gave out.
She crumpled to the floor, her body folding into itself like a broken flower. Moonbeam was still clutched tightly against her chest, but her grip was weak, trembling. Tears streamed down her cheeks, soaking into the collar of her oversized jacket.
She lay on the cold, dusty floor, her body curled into a small, helpless ball. Her sobs were soft, broken like a wounded animal crying out for comfort.
"I don’t understand..." she whispered, her voice barely audible. "Why did Clara lie to me...? She said Leo was here..."
Her breathing became shallow and rapid. Her mind was a fog, her thoughts scattered and confusing.
"Leo..." she whimpered, pressing her forehead against the cold floor. "I’m scared... I’m so scared..."
Her body trembled. Her fingers curled weakly into Moonbeam’s fur.
She didn’t understand anything anymore. She just wanted Leo.

Meanwhile, Leo was a storm of anger.
His car sped through the city streets, his gray eyes burning with cold, lethal rage. His fists were clenched so tightly his knuckles had gone white. His jaw was tight, his breathing controlled but inside him, a volcano was about to explode.
Clara hadn’t taken Bella shopping at all.
She had taken her somewhere else. Somewhere unknown and untraceable.
And she had erased the tracking signal.
Leo slammed his fist against the dashboard. The sound was sharp, jarring, echoing through the car.
"She erased the track," he growled, his voice low and dangerous. "That means she planned this. She knew exactly what she was doing."
His men exchanged uneasy glances. None of them dared to speak.
Leo’s mind raced in all directions. He needed someone who could track her. Someone who could find her when all other methods failed.
How he wished Dominique was here.
After Bella, Dominique was the best hacker Leo knew. He could break through any firewall, trace any signal, find anyone anywhere. But Dominique was away, handling his own affairs.
Leo’s jaw tightened.
Then, suddenly, a thought struck him.
Jace was also a hacker. A good one. He had proven himself time and time again, working behind the scenes, handling the digital warfare that kept their operations secure.
Leo pulled out his phone and dialed Jace’s number.
