Bella captured candid photos of Leo, who encouraged her to continue taking them. Upon returning home, Bella displayed unusual clinginess and distress, which Aunt Clara noticed. Leo led a contemplative Bella to their bedroom, where she found comfort in her plushies and fell asleep. Later, Leo received a call from Dr. Vance.

"I’ve finished reviewing today’s evaluation, along with the observations you’ve shared over the past few days." There was a pause, the sound of papers shuffling. "Based on everything I’ve seen, the nightmares appear to have had a significant impact on Bella’s psychological state. Rather than simply waking frightened, she seems to have retreated into what feels like her safest emotional space."

Leo’s gaze instinctively drifted through the glass doors toward Bella sleeping peacefully on the bed.

Dr. Vance continued. "From what you’ve previously told me, there was another episode in which she behaved much younger, almost as though she had returned to childhood."

He paused briefly.

"This time, however, the pattern is different."

Leo listened carefully.

"Her safe place no longer appears to be tied to a particular age. It’s centered around one person."

Leo’s expression remained unchanged, though his eyes grew darker.

"You."

There was a brief silence.

"Nearly every answer she gave today eventually came back to you. She remembers your name. She remembers your relationship. She consistently identifies you as the person who makes her feel safe."

Dr. Vance looked down at his notes.

"She even described herself using the nickname you gave her rather than her own name. That tells me your relationship has become deeply integrated into her sense of safety. You’re not just her husband to her right now. You’re her anchor."

Leo slowly closed his eyes.

Dr. Vance continued gently. "Mr. Moretti... I’d like you to tell me exactly what happened after she woke from today’s nightmare."

Leo opened his eyes again.

He calmly recounted everything.

Bella had awakened terrified. How she insisted someone was standing in the corner of the room. How frightened she had been. And finally... How he had walked to the empty corner, pretended to fight the unseen figure and asked whether it had gone.

Several seconds of silence followed.

Then Dr. Vance quietly spoke. "...I understand."

His voice carried thoughtful certainty.

"The timing is important. The nightmare left her emotionally overwhelmed. In that state, she couldn’t easily separate the fear she felt from what she believed she was seeing."

He paused.

"When you responded, you didn’t argue with her or dismiss her fear. Instead, you responded to the emotion behind it. You didn’t tell her she was wrong. You didn’t tell her it wasn’t real. You showed her that you would protect her, even from things she couldn’t see."

Leo remained silent.

"From Bella’s perspective," Dr. Vance continued, "you confronted the danger that frightened her. When she saw you do that, you became her anchor. The person her mind associated with protection and safety."

He added carefully, "That doesn’t necessarily mean the frightening image itself was real. It means your response helped her nervous system calm down enough to feel secure again. In that moment, her brain learned that when she’s scared, you make it better."

Leo glanced through the balcony door once more.

"So what do I do now?" Leo asked quietly.

Dr. Vance’s voice was steady. "The same thing you’ve already been doing. Stay calm. Be consistent. Reassure her without forcing memories or confronting her with things she can’t currently process. Don’t push her to remember. Don’t correct her when she says something that isn’t accurate. Just let her feel safe."

"We’ll continue evaluating her and work gradually. The goal isn’t to rush her back to how she was yesterday. The goal is to help her feel safe enough that her mind no longer needs to stay in this protective state."

Leo gave a quiet nod, even though Dr. Vance couldn’t see him.

"...I understand."

Before ending the call, Dr. Vance spoke one final time.

"Mr. Moretti... She’s placing an extraordinary amount of trust in you right now. That trust may become one of the strongest tools in helping her recover."

The call ended.

Leo lowered the phone slowly.

He stood on the balcony for a long time, staring at the darkening sky, feeling the cool breeze against his skin.

Then he turned and walked back inside.

He sat down beside Bella again, watching her sleep and gently took her hand in his.

She stirred slightly, her fingers curling around his even in her sleep.

Leo was slightly taken aback by what Miss J had just told him.

He looked at her silently.

She had arrived at the Moretti mansion together with William.

Apparently, yesterday Miss J had tried calling Bella several times. However, Bella never answered the phone. Feeling something was wrong, she called William instead.

William had told her about Bella’s current condition..After hearing everything, Miss J had finally confessed the truth.

She was Bella’s biological mother.

Although...

William already knew the truth..He simply pretended he didn’t know anything and quietly listened until she finished speaking.

Then this morning, he personally brought her to the mansion.

Just in case... Bella might feel comforted by her company.

Leo looked at the woman standing before him. For a few moments, he didn’t say a single word.

His mother-in-law...Had suddenly appeared out of nowhere.

He wasn’t shocked. After all, he had already discovered long ago that Jessica wasn’t Bella’s biological mother.

Miss J lowered her eyes nervously.

"I know this is sudden..." She clasped her hands together. "But after hearing about Bella...I couldn’t keep hiding it anymore...I just..." Her voice became softer. "I wanted to see my daughter."

Leo quietly looked at Miss J for several long seconds.

His expression remained calm and unreadable.

He wasn’t someone who accepted people simply because they claimed a relationship.

Whether Miss J was truly Bella’s biological mother...Whether she deserved to be called his mother-in-law...

That decision wasn’t his to make.

Only Bella had the right to accept her.

Until then...Leo would simply treat her as Miss J.

He finally broke the silence. "I’ll take you to meet her."

Miss J’s fingers tightened around the strap of her handbag.

She nodded quietly.

"...Thank you."

Leo turned without another word and began walking toward the staircase.

Miss J followed a few steps behind him, her heartbeat growing faster with every step they climbed.

William silently walked behind them as well.

None of them spoke.

The only sound echoing through the quiet hallway was the soft rhythm of their footsteps.

As they reached the bedroom door, Leo gently turned the handle and slowly pushed it open.

The room was peaceful. Morning sunlight streamed through the curtains, bathing the room in a warm golden glow.

Bella was sitting on the bed in her oversized pajamas, hugging Moonbeam and Berry tightly against her chest.

The moment she heard the door open, she immediately looked up.

Her eyes searched the room. The instant they found Leo...a sweet smile bloomed across her face.
