His innocent wife is a dangerous hacker. Chapter 835 Are you certain?
"What are you saying, Jay?"
Lina’s beautiful face tightened with confusion as she stared at her youngest son. Her elegant brows drew together and her usually calm, icy blue eyes slowly shifted from Jay to Jace.
Silence settled over the living room as she studied the two young men standing side by side, trying to make sense of what she had just heard. Her teacup remained frozen in her hand, the delicate porcelain forgotten.
For several long seconds, she couldn’t find a single word.
Her mind raced through countless memories. Jay had always been charming, playful, and shamelessly flirtatious. She clearly remembered him talking to girls, teasing them with that bright smile of his, and she had even been convinced he had a girlfriend once. Nothing had ever made her suspect this.
Her gaze drifted back toward Jace.
A small, irrational part of her wondered if spending so much time together had somehow changed things, but the thought disappeared almost as quickly as it appeared. She knew feelings weren’t that simple, yet her heart still struggled to catch up with the truth.
Jay stepped forward before anyone else could speak.
Jay said, his voice unusually calm. "Mom, I’m serious. I like Jace. No... I love him. I really hope everyone can support us."
He then looked toward the elderly woman sitting frozen in her chair.
"And Nonna..." a grin slowly spread across his face despite the tense atmosphere. "Looks like I’m bringing you a grandson-in-law instead of a granddaughter-in-law."
Nonna blinked.
Her mouth remained slightly open as she looked from Jay to Jace and back again.
Her entire worldview had been quietly flipped upside down within a few seconds.
She had lived through so many decades, but she had never seen two boys fall in love. Although she had seen old men loving young girls shamelessly and young girls falling in love with old men. But this... this was new to her.
Jay turned toward his father.
"Dad?" he called hopefully. "Please say something. At least nod if you approve."
Everyone’s eyes landed on Alessandro.
Alessandro slowly rubbed his forehead before letting out a quiet sigh. His hand dropped to his side, and he looked at his son with a mixture of confusion and concern.
He wasn’t angry.
He was simply... stunned.
After gathering his thoughts, he looked directly into Jay’s eyes.
Alessandro asked gently. "Are you certain? Both of you."
His gaze moved toward Jace.
"I need an honest answer from both of you."
Jace nodded quietly. His grip on Jay’s hand tightened.
Alessandro continued, choosing his words carefully. "Sometimes people become very attached to their closest friend. Those feelings can become confusing. Are you sure this isn’t simply a deep friendship? Are you absolutely certain this is love?"
The room fell silent again.
After another pause, Alessandro spoke once more.
"I don’t mean to offend either of you... but you’ve spent almost all your time together. Maybe you simply haven’t met the right women yet."
Jay’s eyes grew wide. "Dad!"
He almost laughed in disbelief. "I go to the company every single day. There are literally hundreds of women working there."
He crossed his arms dramatically. "And trust me, I’ve met every type of girl you can imagine. Blonde, brunette, redhead. Tall, short, everything in between. And none of them made me feel the way Jace does."
Several family members couldn’t help smiling.
Jay’s expression soon turned serious again. "I’m not confused."
He looked at Jace before looking back at his father. "I’ve thought about this for a long time. Years. I didn’t just wake up one morning and decide this. I’ve wrestled with it, questioned myself, doubted myself. But at the end of it all, I kept coming back to the same truth."
His voice became firm. "I’m one hundred percent sure that I love him."
William said from the hallway. "And what exactly are you one hundred percent sure about?"
Everyone turned.
William had just entered. His eyes swept across the room, taking in the tense expressions, the frozen teacups, the silent stares.
Seeing every family member gathered in complete silence immediately made him suspicious.
He looked around before his eyes landed on Bella.
"What happened?" William asked.
Bella blinked before answering honestly. "Jay confessed that he loves Jace... and he wants to marry him."
William paused for a moment.
He looked at Jay.
Then at Jace.
Surprisingly...
He didn’t seem shocked.
Years of running a large company had exposed him to people from all walks of life. At first, even he had struggled to understand relationships like these. But over time, he had learned to see beyond the surface, to understand that love came in many forms.
A faint smile appeared on his face.
William said calmly. "When I was younger, I believed love had to fit into one picture. Life taught me otherwise."
He folded his hands behind his back. "Love isn’t created by someone’s appearance, nor is it limited by whether they’re a man or a woman."
His voice remained steady. "We all enter this world the same way, and one day we all leave it the same way. What truly matters during the years in between is whether you’ve found someone who respects you, stands beside you, and makes your heart feel at peace."
He looked warmly at both young men. "If that’s what the two of you have found..."
He smiled. "...then don’t throw it away because of what other people expect."
Bella’s face immediately brightened.
Her grandfather...
She felt a surge of pride and love for him.
Lina remained quiet for another minute before letting out a slow breath.
"I approve," she said.
Everyone looked toward her.
"But..." she admitted honestly, "...I’ll need a little time to let this sink in."
Jay’s shoulders relaxed in relief.
Alessio gave a small nod. "I feel the same."
Meanwhile...
Nonna still hadn’t recovered.
She looked back and forth between the boys as if hoping someone would suddenly shout that it was all a prank.
William chuckled softly.
