Market City - Auction
Gasp!
The gasps took a couple of seconds to subside. Then, a sharp rise in the bidding occurred. Auctioneer Elowen didn’t even announce the increment value.
Yet, the bidding price soared.
"25,000!"
"30,000!"
"32,000!"
One after another, the amount of mid-grade mana stones increased. The bids were raised by the VIPs.
The people on the ground floor were watching everything in shock. They hadn’t expected to hear such values.
On the other hand, I didn’t bid for it, even though the bidding price was surprising.
I knew that it was hard for others without a strong background and resources to find a complete Level-10 earth-related spell.
"38,000!"
Finally, the bidding stopped at 38,000. Seeing that, everyone heaved a sigh of relief.
"40,000!"
Just then, a beautiful female voice sounded from one of the VIP rooms. Hearing that, I was taken aback.
The voice was coming from the room right next to mine. The woman’s voice made me curious. I immediately used the system to scan her profile.
The status panel appeared before my eyes. My gaze fell on the profile. Glancing through it, I understood that her magic was related to sand and earth magic.
Then I noticed something else: she didn’t have a wide range of spells, and most of her magic spells were incomplete.
It showed that she didn’t hail from a powerful background, but her talent was great—only slightly lower than mine. Not only that, I found out she was of a similar age to me.
My curiosity grew further. Such a talented wizard. With her talent, she could join any organization inside the Magic City.
Meanwhile,
Auctioneer Elowen declared the female wizard the winner after calling it three times. The 10th Grade Spell Model now belonged to the female wizard.
Gasp!
An exclamation sounded. They hadn’t expected an earth-grade magic spell to go for this price.
Auctioneer Elowen swept her gaze across everyone.
She said, "It’s time for another special item. We unearthed this object from the old ruins. We don’t know what it is."
"If any of the VIPs are interested in it, they can buy it for research purposes," she added.
Hearing that, everyone grew curious. Murmurs rippled across the ground floor. The wizards there were wondering whether it was another Supreme Grade Item.
The VIPs were even more interested in the item. Then, the female staff brought a box toward the platform.
The female staff placed the box on top of the platform. One of them opened the cover.
A medium-sized metal orb came into view. The orb looked antique rather than new and shiny.
Gasp!
A loud exclamation rang out. The wizards didn’t know what the antique piece was called, but since it had been uncovered from the old ruins, the metal object had to be important.
Even the people inside the VIP rooms were curious. Some of them were interested in buying the round metal object.
Meanwhile,
Inside my room, my eyes gleamed. I found the metal object to be special.
I used the system to scan it.
[Ding! A powerful, worn-out special relic has been found.]
[Ding! Host can use the special relic to increase gravity magic power.]
The system’s voice sounded in my mind. Hearing that, my heart stirred. It wasn’t an ordinary relic, but a rare one that could be used to increase the power of gravity magic.
Other relics were used for stat stacks—for example, the 8th multiplier stage gained from the previous relic.
However, special relics that could increase gravity magic power were rare. After calming my racing heart, I turned toward the Zero Puppet in red smoke form next to me.
I thought of using the Zero Puppet to steal the relic, but I decided not to do so. I would try to use mana stones first.
If this method did not succeed, then I would use the Zero Puppet.
Outside,
Auctioneer Elowen swept her gaze across everyone. She was expecting high bids from the VIPs.
If their own appraiser hadn’t failed to identify the object, they wouldn’t have put it up for auction.
She said, "The starting base price is 50,000 mid-grade mana stones. The minimum bid increment is 500."
Gasp!
This time, the gasps were loud. No one had expected such a sky-high price. Soft gasps even sounded from inside the VIP rooms.
Even they hadn’t expected such a high price.
"60,000!"
I shouted my bid.
Hearing that, everyone was taken aback. They all turned toward the VIP room, because this time, the voice sounded like that of a young male wizard.
Back in the office room, the Manager and the Magic Lord were watching the bidding live. When they heard the voice, they were shocked to hear such a young speaker.
Then, the Manager and the Magic Lord came to a realization—they had met this young VIP before.
"He is the same young man," the Manager said.
Hearing that, the old Magic Lord’s eyes flashed with greed. He had already known the young man was wealthy when he bought the VIP pass.
Now that he had bid 60,000 directly, the Magic Lord was shocked to the core. At the same time, he sensed the young man had no protection.
Other VIPs had protection. In particular, the female wizard and the other guests in the VIP rooms had protectors.
Yet, they were all waiting outside the Magic City. They had not entered the Market City because they knew a fight would break out outside.
The people they were protecting had targets on their backs, so the protectors had made an agreement with each other.
They would not accompany their young masters and young ladies inside; they would stay outside until the auction was over.
That was why everyone was waiting outside. Some of the protectors were receiving updates from followers standing beside the young masters and young ladies.
Learning that a 10th Grade treasure had appeared, they were shocked and surprised. They were also hearing the live updates of the auction.
