Gravity Mage with Level-Up System Chapter 2125: Part 2: Auction Day

Market City - Auction
It didn’t take long for all the VIPs to come. They were all quietly seated inside their rooms, waiting for the auction to start.
On the other hand, I was observing the place. So far, I had sensed only one Magic Lord: that old man, the Guardian of the Auction.
Seeing that, I brought the zero puppet outside for my safety. The old guardian had already shown greed; he was not a good wizard.
In case he decided to fight, the zero puppet would help.
A few minutes later,
The auction officially started. The curtains were drawn, and the wide stage came into everyone’s sight.
The next second, a round of applause sounded. Everyone welcomed the old woman to the stage.
The old woman was the auctioneer. After realizing that, I raised my eyebrows in surprise. I looked down at the guests on the first floor.
Almost all of them were locals, and they seemed to know the old woman.
The old woman took her mic and said, "Welcome, everyone, to the 86th Market City Auction House. My name is Elowen. I’m your auctioneer for the event."
Hearing that, the guests applauded again. I could hear the loud claps alongside her words.
My guess was right; she was a famous auctioneer.
I could tell that the auction was going to be interesting.
Elowen swept her gaze across the room. She saw the guests and acknowledged their applause.
She said, "Let’s get to the auction right away. The first auction item is called Black Refined Liquid. It’s one of our magic products to improve the mana core."
Gasp!
A low exclamation occurred. The guests didn’t expect the first auction item to be a magic product.
Right after, two female staff members carried a box together onto the stage platform.
They placed the box on top of the platform and opened it before everyone. Inside was a vial with black liquid.
The black liquid was not ordinary; it was glistening.
Auctioneer Elowen nodded. She then announced the base price.
"It’s a magic treasure. It’s useful for improving the mana core progress of Level-8 and Level-9 Wizards," Elowen said.
"The starting price is 100 Mid-Grade Mana Stones. It can be raised by increments of 10 Mid-Grade Mana Stones," Elowen added.
She glanced at everyone.
"You can start bidding," she said to them.
"110!" one of the guests from the ground floor called out.
"120!"
"130!"
"140!"
The other guests started bidding fiercely. The magic product was so popular that they couldn’t resist bidding, mostly because many of them were Level-8 to Level-9 Wizards.
As the minutes passed, the bidding amount increased up to 1,120 Mid-Grade Mana Stones.
It didn’t stop for a single moment; the bids continued to climb. But no one from the VIP section made a bid.
To them, it was a low-tier magic product they completely disdained.
On the other hand, I was watching everything with interest. Seeing that the bid had crossed 1,000, I immediately used the system to scan the product.
[Ding! A mid-tier magic product made using an ancient recipe.]
I heard the system’s voice in my mind. I was shocked. I didn’t expect them to create it without relying on the latest technology.
It was surprising to know the product was crafted using ancient methods. My heart stirred.
If there was a product made using this recipe for Level-10, I would buy it for sure. But I didn’t know whether it was useful for all wizards.
"2,000 Mid-Grade Mana Stones!" someone from the first floor bid.
Hearing that, I was taken aback. If it was useful to everyone, then it was only normal for the price to rise.
I questioned the system again, wanting to know if it worked for everyone.
[Ding! The magic product is useful to 33% of wizards.]
I heard the system’s voice in my mind and was taken aback. The percentage seemed small, but it was enough to drive the wizards into a frenzy.
I figured people thought they had a fair chance. If they didn’t bid for it, they might lose an opportunity to improve their mana grade.
It didn’t take long for the bidding to stop. Someone finally called out a price of 3,230 Mid-Grade Mana Stones.
Clearly, this was not something the local wealthy could afford. The buyer had to be someone from outside the city.
Auctioneer Elowen declared the winning bidder, then prepared to introduce the next lot.
As time passed, more and more auction items went for high prices, but none piqued the interest of the VIPs.
They were looking for something special—namely Grade-10 and Grade-11 items. Grade-10 items were already considered top-tier.
One would surely appear during the event, and they expected it to be the finale.
Because of that, their expectations of seeing a Grade-11 item were low, as that was on the level of a Magic Lord.
"Next is a worn-out text of a Grade-10 earth magic spell model," Auctioneer Elowen said.
"The starting price is 1,000 Mid-Grade Mana Stones," she added.
Loud gasps echoed through the room. No one expected a Grade-10 treasure to appear so soon; everyone had assumed it would be the final auction item.
The expressions of the VIPs shifted dramatically. They waited intently to hear the rest of the details.
More than that, they wondered what the true final auction item could possibly be.
Meanwhile,
"Grade-10," I uttered in surprise. I didn’t expect them to bring out a Grade-10 item now.
The zero puppet cloaked in red smoke materialized beside me, quietly monitoring the room.
Outside,
Auctioneer Elowen announced, "The base price of the spell model is 20,000 Mid-Grade Mana Stones."
Gasp!
Another collective gasp sounded. No one expected the price to be that high; they were anticipating around 10,000 Mid-Grade Mana Stones.
Being 10,000 higher than expected left the regular customers thoroughly stunned. They had some limited amount.
They didn’t know who else had come. There were many VIPs. Who knew? There could be a wealthier person among them. They had to bid carefully.
