The cab driver was awestruck. He understood the customer in the car was a big shot. He then carefully drove the car.
A few minutes later,
The car reached the destination. It stopped in front of the prime hotel. I stepped out of the car and paid the fare to the driver.
Then I looked around at the buildings around me. Especially, the ten-floor building standing before me was a huge building.
There was a huge hotel banner on the top floor. Then I shifted my attention to the entrance and walked up to it.
Creak!
I opened the door and walked inside. The quiet atmosphere greeted me. I looked around and found the help desk.
There was a male and a female staff member behind the desk. I walked up to them. Both staff members saw the customer. Their expressions changed drastically.
They recognised the emblem of the Silver Tower. Before joining, they had been trained to recognise the important forces in the magic city and other places.
The two staff members were Level-7 wizards, but they felt great terror from the person.
"Welcome, esteemed guest, to our hotel," the female wizard said.
Hearing that, I smiled and replied, "I would like to book a room for one day."
The male and female staff heard it. They began to search in the database.
The male staff member then said, "One of our premium suites is free."
But then he hesitated about whether to state the price or not, because the person was actually a Magic Tower Wizard, not some wizard living in the magic city.
Even that identity was scary.
"What happened?"
"Tell me the price," I asked him.
The female staff member was taken aback. She noticed the male staff member was troubled.
On the other hand, I saw through the hesitation.
I smiled and said, "There is no need to worry. I’m going to pay for my stay."
Sigh!
Hearing that, the male staff member relaxed his shoulders.
"My apologies, I didn’t expect to see a Magic Tower Wizard here," the male staff member said.
"It’s okay," I replied.
The female staff member thanked me as well. I shook my head.
Right then, a black-haired female wizard walked into the hotel. Upon seeing her, the faces of the male and female staff’s face changed drastically.
"City Lord Aveline!"
The male and female staff uttered at the same time.
Hearing that, I turned towards the entrance. I saw a young, long-haired female Supreme Wizard. She seemed to be one or two years older than me.
I was seeing such a young City Lord for the first time.
Aveline nodded to them before turning towards me.
"Supreme Wizard Vincent!"
"What a surprise to see you here. I have heard a lot about you from my friend. She told me that it’s hard to find your traces," Aveline said with a smile before extending her hand for a handshake.
Hearing that, I smiled and said, "It’s a pleasure to meet you."
After saying that, I shook her hand. I hadn’t expected the City Lord to know me.
"May I know who your friend is?" I asked.
Aveline smiled mysteriously and said, "You have met her before and even exchanged magic spell attacks with her."
I raised my eyebrows in confusion. I began to recall the female wizards with whom I had crossed paths in the past. But I couldn’t tell which one.
"Don’t worry. I’ll just tell you. She is from your Silver Tower. Her name is Celeste," Aveline said.
I felt like a thunderclap had struck my head. The long-buried name once again appeared in my heart.
"Celeste," I uttered in shock.
I had long forgotten her. Especially after I started doing long-term missions in different countries, I hadn’t crossed paths with her again.
I had heard she was doing long-term missions as well.
"Are you talking about the person who uses rare glass magic?" I asked.
"Yeah, it’s her. I’m her friend. But you should be respectful to her. She is a Magic Lord now, while you are still at the Supreme level," Aveline said.
A storm brewed in my heart. I began to recall things about Celeste. Her talent was greater than mine back during the wizard seed stage.
She became a Level-9 Wizard before me. But later, I stopped hearing news about her.
"When did she become a Supreme Wizard and then a Magic Lord?"
"Where is she right now?"
I asked her back-to-back questions.
"I knew you would ask me. Let’s take a seat and discuss," Aveline said with a smile. She started walking towards the lounge.
Hearing that, I followed her. Then we sat down on the sofa, and I looked at her with great interest. I hardly knew anyone else apart from those three in the Silver Tower.
Not long ago, I had come across Supreme Wizard Holden Barrett. But he was from the Neutral Faction. Celeste was different.
If I was not mistaken, she was from the White Silver Faction, the same faction as mine.
"So where do I start?"
"During her long-term mission, she came upon several opportunities. She broke through to the Supreme stage quickly. She then didn’t return to the Magic City, but continued to do missions," Aveline said.
"Not long ago, she found another opportunity to break through to Magic Lord, shocking everyone in her family and all of us," Aveline added.
Hearing that, I didn’t know what to say. Celeste was already progressing faster. She must have gotten some inheritance opportunity. Otherwise, her speed of progress didn’t make any sense.
"You must be in shock," Aveline said.
"Yes, I’m shocked. She was already strong. She must be even stronger right now. Does the Silver Tower know about it?" I asked.
"I don’t know about that. But she is on her way back. The Mage Union has ordered the magic towers to take action. She got a call from the Silver Tower to come back."
"She spoke to me through a special artifact," Aveline said.
Hearing that, my eyes flashed with understanding.
My progress was getting slower. Because of the mission, I didn’t have time to focus on practice. Maybe I should stay in the hotel for a few days to train.
If this went on, Celeste would become a Forbidden Wizard before me. She could then easily defeat me.
"You have to be ready. During the call, she was curious about everyone’s strength. Especially yours. She wanted to fight you," Aveline said.
