Gravity Mage with Level-Up System Chapter 2077: City Lord Conrad
Previously on Gravity Mage with Level-Up System...
Darkmoon City
City Lord Conrad had magic power to do with Artifacts. He placed his hidden Artifacts in the watchtowers around the city.
The other wizards would simply ignore them. Even the watchtower guards didn’t know about the hidden Artifacts. But he had placed them secretly to alert him when there was an intruder.
This time, he sensed the presence of one more person apart from the watchtower wizards. The crystal ball was glowing crimson in response to it.
Conrad stood up and deactivated the restrictions covering the city sky. Once the restrictions were gone, he immediately left the office.
He exited the building and appeared in mid-air. His gaze turned toward the watchtower next to the gate.
Swoosh!
The next second, he disappeared from the spot. Soon, he appeared above the watchtower, standing in mid-air.
He had already spread his mental power to cover the area. In the blink of an eye, he scanned the watchtowers. He saw the watchtower wizards patrolling from one stretch to another.
But there was no sign of the intruder. The old man furrowed his eyebrows. He saw the crystal ball glowing bright red.
He was not imagining it. His hidden Artifact had reacted to the presence of an intruder. Even the intruder would not know about the Artifact.
It was because of his magic power. Only he knew whether the Artifact had reacted or not.
On the other hand, the city guards and the locals saw someone standing in mid-air. When they raised their heads and looked toward him, they realized that the person was none other than City Lord Conrad.
The city guards were worried. They didn’t know what had happened.
"Is there any trouble?" the City Guard Captain asked himself.
City Lord Conrad appeared inside one of the watchtowers. The watchtower guard was petrified upon seeing the City Lord.
Old man Conrad told him to leave for a second. Hearing that, the watchtower guard left the place.
Right then, the old man used his magic power. Yellow magic circles appeared before him. Spell power was released from the magic circles and landed on the wall before him.
The next second, similar magic circles appeared on the wall. Seeing that, the old man extended his right hand.
His right hand went inside the wall and retrieved an object. The object was none other than the crystal ball.
Right now, the crystal ball was glowing crimson.
The old man’s face changed drastically. He definitely knew an intruder had appeared here; it was just that no one else knew it. It had taken him less than two minutes to get here, yet the intruder had already escaped.
It showed that the intruder could be a Level-9 or Supreme Wizard. Only such a wizard could escape the eyes and ears of the guards here.
City Lord Conrad made a decision. He was going to inform the higher-ups. Ultimately, he worked for the Black Tower. They had already warned him to report if any small matter were to happen in the city.
Swoosh!
Next, he left the place without saying anything to the guards. This left the guards puzzled. But the situation soon returned to normal.
The locals began to mind their own business. The guards also resumed their work. The watchtower wizards resumed their patrol.
Meanwhile, inside the Gregor Mansion, I summoned everyone and explained the situation to the others.
"It’s confusing. Why would they leave the watchtower if the city sky is covered in restrictions?" Otto asked.
Patrick and Hank seemed to be puzzled. Even old man Rock didn’t know the answer to it.
"It could be a trap," Caitlin commented.
Hearing that, everyone turned toward her. I looked at her as well. I thought it could be a trap, but the system hadn’t sensed anything.
"How could you say that?"
"I have ways to check for traps, but I found none," I said to her.
Caitlin’s eyes flickered with interest.
"I know you have ways to check. But how do you know whether it was an external trap or the magic power of a wizard?" Caitlin replied.
Hearing that, I was stunned. The other members became quiet as well. Compared to them, Caitlin was a local.
She was a Magic Lord, too. She had met many such weird wizards.
"System, is it possible for you to overlook the magic power of a wizard?" I asked the system in my mind.
[Ding! The system is still improving. It requires further updates to become efficient.]
Hearing that, my heart sank. The system was not omnipotent. The main power of the system was to evolve my talent, so it was understandable that the rest of the functions were not that great.
It was also a wake-up call for me. I was relying too much on the system; I should use my own brain.
Caitlin saw that the young wizard was pondering.
"It appears he met with an obstacle in Darkmoon City," she said in her heart.
The other members digested the information. They were also hearing about such magic for the first time.
I took a deep breath and said, "It seems I escaped a trap. But the City Lord and the guards could be alerted."
"Master, let me outside. I will collect the news for you," Otto said.
"No. It’s risky. We are inside Darkmoon City right now. The higher-ups have ordered me to do something else. They didn’t want me to enter the city."
"The news about Rockwell City has reached them. They are afraid that I could fall into an enemy trap," I said to them.
Otto and the other members looked toward each other.
"Master, is the Black Tower targeting you?" Patrick asked.
I smiled and said, "Nobody knows about my presence here. So I’m going to collect evidence of their trafficking. The Black Tower is doing some illegal stuff here."
"The evidence will be helpful in the future," I added.
"You guys can stay here. If I need help, I will bring you outside." After saying that, I appeared outside.
On the other hand, Caitlin was surprised.
"So this is how he works every time?" Caitlin asked..
"Yes, if the Master needs help, he will summon us," Otto said.
Then everyone stood up and went back to their rooms.
Caitlin was left alone. She then cast her magic spell. A golden book appeared. She once again recorded the information in her book.
