Gravity Mage with Level-Up System Chapter 2076: Darkmoon City

Darkmoon City
I moved closer to the city gate. I came across wandering wizards and wizards from the nearby cities.
Everyone wanted to go to Darkmoon City. While walking, I couldn’t help but overhear some conversations.
Some rare magic resources were sold by the magic shops of Darkmoon City. In particular, wizards who had dark magic could find resources here.
Though Darkmoon City fell under the Black Tower, it had its own administrative rules. They allowed wizards from all backgrounds to do business here.
Even wizards from unknown dark territories would come here to buy resources. Darkmoon City never restricted other forces.
Wizards from different backgrounds could enter the city, but they had to follow the rules of Darkmoon City while staying inside.
They turned a blind eye to things happening outside.
I didn’t expect Darkmoon City to be this lenient. When I got closer, I saw a few dead bodies on the ground. They were the corpses of wizards killed not long ago.
People were just walking by as if nothing had happened. Seeing this, I realised that looting and killing were common outside. My appearance drew attention.
I felt many eyes on my back. I used the system to check their details. I realised that there were some old Supreme Wizards in those tents.
Fortunately, it was daytime. No one dared to cause a scene right now; their actions would be exposed too easily in broad daylight.
I drew closer to the city gate. Then, I noticed a conversation happening between a guard and a wandering wizard.
They seemed to be negotiating something. Since they were Level-8 Wizards, I could hear their conversation even from this distance.
"If you agree to replace some of your organs, then we will pay you handsomely every month, and you will be given a place to stay inside the city," the guard said to the wandering wizard with a smile.
"Then how can I live and practice?" the wandering wizard asked. He seemed to be a lean and sickly middle-aged man.
"Don’t worry, we have suitable replacement organs from monsters. We have a Transmutation Wizard to take care of that," the guard said persuasively.
Hearing that, my eyes flashed with coldness. I had been wondering how to dig up dirt, but I didn’t expect to stumble upon their organ trafficking deeds so quickly.
My heart turned cold. The Black Tower had been against me from the beginning. They had even sent Forbidden Wizards to kill me multiple times.
I decided to collect evidence and destroy their establishments in the end. I walked past the duo without disturbing their deal.
As time passed, I wandered near the gate to gather information, but I didn’t stay behind the line. It didn’t take long for the guards to notice me.
I slipped away from the area. The guards tried to search for me, but they lost track. They then returned to their posts and continued with their usual work.
Afterward, I came to the right side of the city, where there were only watchtowers keeping an eye on the outer border.
First, I used the system to check whether any trouble was near. I confirmed that no one was following me.
Swoosh!
Next, I used the flight ability and appeared mid-air. I rushed off toward the watchtower. In a flash, I closed the distance.
The watchtower guard was out patrolling, leaving the rest of the spot empty. I landed quietly. My gaze then fell on the city, which stretched across endlessly.
I could see many buildings, including residential areas and shops. I thought about jumping down from here to enter the city directly.
[Ding! The city is covered in Magic Formations.]
I heard the system’s voice in my mind. My heart stirred, but I hadn’t felt any magical artifacts nearby. I used the system to locate the source.
[Ding! The Magic Artifact is mounted on the City Lord’s building.]
[Ding! No one can enter the city from above.]
I heard the system notifications finish. Then, I used my movement technique to slip to the next watchtower before the guard returned.
Swoosh!
I left that watchtower and headed to the one right by the main gate. A Level-9 Wizard was standing guard there.
Knock!
I appeared before him in a flash. Before he could utter a word, I knocked him out. Then, I laid him down quietly.
Next, I went downstairs and exited through the door as if nothing had happened. There were guards near the gate and locals passing by, but no one noticed a thing.
I looked back up toward the watchtower. The Magic Formations didn’t envelop the watchtowers. Otherwise, it would have been impossible to enter that way.
I didn’t know what kind of magic artifact was mounted on the central building. I walked away from the scene. As I walked along the footpath, I picked up a small pebble from the ground.
Boom!
I flicked it upward. The pebble shot high into the sky. The next second, it crossed an invisible barrier and disintegrated into ashes.
Seeing that, my eyes narrowed. I realised the barrier was indeed active; they had simply left the watchtowers uncovered for some specific reason.
"No, they must know someone has entered," I thought.
I didn’t think the Black Tower would make such a careless mistake. It must have been done deliberately. I recalled the words of Manager Lara.
"A trap," I muttered.
I understand the situation now. Slipping into the crowd, I disappeared. I left the main gate area, navigated through the residential district, and found an isolated spot before reappearing inside the Gregor Mansion.
Meanwhile,
Inside the City Lord’s office, an old man looking to be in his sixties sat quietly. He was adorned in dark mage robes and a pointed hat.
There was a crystal ball on the table glowing a bright, violent red. His eyes were fixed entirely on it.
"Intruder," the old man uttered.
This man was the City Lord of Darkmoon City. His name was Conrad and he was not only the City Lord, but also a Supreme Wizard.
