Amaira infiltrates Captain Roger's home to extract information about the attack on the City Lord, suspecting the appraisal shop staff. Meanwhile, Manager Lara tries to contact Vincent Carey at the behest of Lord Charlotte. Elsewhere, Vincent confronts Magic Lord Caitlin, revealing his identity as Supreme Wizard Vincent Carey and Appraiser Frank before presenting a powerful artifact and demanding her absolute loyalty.

Gregor Mansion

"I agreed earlier, so I don’t have a change of mind right now," Caitlin said.

"Then I’m going to use this artifact on you," I said to her.

"If I’m not wrong, it must be some kind of control artifact. It’s the absolute loyalty you spoke of, which is guaranteed by the magic artifact," she said.

"You are indeed a book wizard. When I become powerful in the future, I will have no use for this artifact, and then I will undo it." After saying that, I poured mana into the Red Scroll Artifact.

Swoosh!

The crimson glow of the Red Scroll Artifact intensified. The next second, it shot out a red light toward Caitlin.

The red light entered her body and quickly reached her mana core. It then transformed into red chains and bound her mana core.

The process brought heart-wrenching pain, but Magic Lord Caitlin endured it. She had received a once in a lifetime opportunity; she didn’t want to miss it and fail to prove her word.

When the binding was done, another red light shot from the Red Scroll Artifact. It entered my head and appeared in my mind.

The red light transformed into a small crimson orb. It floated toward the other crimson orbs in my mind, then fixed its position as the sixth crimson orb.

The first five crimson orbs belonged to Otto, Patrick, Hank, Old Man Rock, and the Vine Monster. Now, the sixth floating orb belonged to Lady Caitlin.

After confirming the process was a success with the help of the system, I put the Red Scroll Artifact away inside the system space.

Then I looked toward her and said, "Don’t worry, the chains are there to ensure there is no betrayal against me. They don’t control or influence your mind. If you betray me, the crimson chains will burn your mana core."

Gasp!

Caitlin sucked in a cold breath of air. She didn’t expect to see such a powerful artifact. A Supreme Wizard had brought a Magic Lord under control.

"What about the others?" she asked.

"They are under control as well. Now tell me about your magic. What else can it do?" I asked.

Hearing that, she was stunned. She didn’t expect to hear such a question right away.

"I mentioned it to you before. I’m on a mission right now. There is a new force in the shadows acting against the Mage Union."

"The Magic Towers were given orders to investigate them. I’m investigating on behalf of my faction and the Silver Tower." After saying that, I began to explain about the enemy Covenant.

A few minutes later,

Caitlin’s expression was serious.

She said, "A couple of days ago, wizards of unknown origin visited the market. They bought several things."

"But later, they left without making any noise," she added.

"There are many groups sent by the enemy force. Some of them are disrupting businesses, while others are robbing the graves of wizards. It’s unclear what they are planning to do."

"That’s why I’m hoping to get some clues in the next city," I added.

Hearing that, Caitlin took a deep breath before casting a spell. A golden book manifested in front of her.

The book was surrounded by golden concentric circles.

Swoosh!

The next second, the book opened. Its pages flipped.

A fresh page appeared. A golden brush materialized and started to write automatically.

Seeing that, my eyes gleamed with interest.

I walked up to her. My gaze then fell on the book.

"Covenant"

The magic brush wrote the title. Underneath it, it began to scribe the information she had just heard.

I saw all the information on the paper. When the brush finished scribing, it disappeared along with the golden book.

"What happened just now?" I asked her.

To that, Caitlin smiled and said, "It’s one of my magic spells. It can record every message my brain receives."

"If any wizard uses mind magic to erase my memories, I can use my magic book to restore them," she said.

Hearing that, I was shocked. It was certainly useful magic, but only for her.

"So, what’s so special about it? You can restore your memory, but what about others?" I asked her.

"If someone erases your memories, I can use the spell to restore them. The book not only records the words, but also my memories," she replied.

Hearing that, my heart stirred. I immediately asked the system to check whether she was telling the truth or not.

[Ding! Magic Lord Caitlin is telling the truth.]

I heard the system’s voice in my mind. I calmed my heart. Her magic had a wonderful use. Indeed, there could be wizards who could control the mind and do whatever they wanted.

"I think I might need your help in the next city," I said.

"I’m ready to help," she said.

"I will ask the elders to find a lifespan expanding fruit for you," I said to her.

Swoosh!

Hearing that, she thanked me. Then I brought her back to the cabin.

The members saw her. They didn’t know what to say.

"You guys can talk. I used the Artifact to control her mana core just like yours," I said to them.

Hearing that, their faces turned serious, but they knew it was the price they had to pay.

"Alright, let’s talk about the mission. Earlier, I didn’t want to intervene much. I only wanted to collect information."

"But it appears battle cannot be avoided in the future. So you guys should be ready. After reaching Darkmoon City, I will buy some defensive items for you guys," I said to them.

Hearing that, the others agreed. Hank decided to be more prepared. He had been helpless in the market and didn’t want to face a similar situation again.

Caitlin sat back in her seat. She was now part of Supreme Wizard Vincent Carey’s team.

I returned to the cockpit. I saw the Zero Puppet in its red smoke form. Nobody knew about the Zero Puppet; it was another secret and trump card of mine.

Now that Lady Caitlin was part of the team, I felt more confident. As long as we didn’t come across a Forbidden Wizard, we could walk away from any situation.
