Holden Barrett, the Supreme Wizard of the Silver Tower, was alone in his room, deep in thought while the rest of his family was busy elsewhere.

The Barrett family elders were planning to hold a banquet without his approval, and he knew why they were doing it.

The problem was not the banquet itself, but the guests. Holden Barrett didn’t know who else might show up.

The guests could be family friends from various family backgrounds, and Holden Barrett didn’t trust them at all.

He suspected there could be spies sent by other families, which could lead to a major problem. Neither the White Silver Faction nor the Dark Silver Faction in the Silver Tower would like this.

The main reason for the event was to gather information regarding the mission. Holden Barrett felt that his family had lost trust in him, though he didn’t know why.

All he needed was time to figure things out, but his family elders were making unnecessary moves.

Knock!

Just as he was thinking, someone knocked on the door. Hearing the sound, he collected his thoughts and turned toward the bed.

He said, "Come in."

The door opened, and a person walked inside none other than his butler, Gideon. Holden relaxed his brow.

"Master," Gideon greeted him.

"Did you find out any news?" Holden asked.

Gideon raised his head and looked at him, hesitant about how his master would react.

He said, "Master, it appears there is movement from the White Silver Faction. It has alarmed the Dark Silver Faction, and the Neutral Faction is trying to gather information."

Hearing that, Holden’s eyes flashed with understanding. Now he knew why the banquet was being held.

"So we don’t know what the White Silver Faction is up to?" Holden asked.

"Yes," the butler replied.

Holden Barrett suddenly thought of someone—Supreme Wizard Vincent. He didn’t know why, but he believed Vincent Carey was no ordinary wizard.

He had heard of Vincent completing difficult missions, including ones related to the Forbidden Area. Holden didn’t think such a person would avoid a mission assigned by the Mage Union.

Those earlier missions had been given by the Silver Tower—specifically, by their own factions.

But the Mage Union was different. Everyone looked for opportunities to gain their favor. Technically, wizards became part of the Mage Union after becoming a Supreme Wizard.

So it was normal for Supreme Wizards to be competitive. In fact, he had heard that Magic Lords and Forbidden Wizards were no different.

Only the Elders were watching from behind the scenes, though they had yet to uncover traces of the enemy forces.

Holden looked toward his butler.

He said, "Find out the whereabouts of Vincent Carey. I want to know what he is doing right now."

Hearing that, Gideon was taken aback, but he quickly understood. Supreme Wizard Vincent was another genius, so he must have been up to something.

Gideon then left the room.

Somewhere in a secret location sat one of the hideouts of the White Silver Faction. Four people were inside, engaged in discussion: Elder Dana, Forbidden Wizard Charlotte, Forbidden Wizard Erwin, and Supreme Wizard Hellen.

Supreme Wizard Hellen was in charge of the Black Mine resources under the Silver Tower. She had been called in for support, leaving someone else to oversee the Black Mine for now.

Elder Dana sat in the head seat, with Erwin and Charlotte sitting on her right and left. Supreme Wizard Hellen sat opposite her.

Hellen was the only Supreme Wizard present. Elder Dana was an Elder-level powerhouse, while Lord Charlotte and Lord Erwin were Forbidden Wizards.

Hellen had no idea why she had been invited.

Elder Dana looked toward Charlotte and asked, "Are you sure it was the Covenant?"

Charlotte knitted her brows. "It’s indeed the Covenant. I don’t think Vincent Carey would joke about the seriousness of a mission," Charlotte said.

Erwin supported her point, saying, "Elder, Vincent is a serious kid. Don’t forget how he made a fool of both the Wind Elemental Tower and the Flame Elemental Tower."

Hellen was inwardly surprised. She didn’t know the whole story yet, but she figured Vincent Carey must have done something big.

What did you do, kid? Hellen thought to herself.

"Sigh!"

Dana let out a deep sigh.

She said, "If it’s the Covenant, then this is a serious problem."

"I am double-checking everything before sharing it with the other two factions. Neither the Dark Silver Faction nor the Neutral Faction will believe it just like that," Elder Dana said in a grave tone.

Hearing that, both Charlotte and Erwin understood her caution.

Erwin then thought of something and asked, "Elder, if both factions remain unconvinced, how are we supposed to convince the Mage Union?"

Elder Dana smiled. "I have friends in the Mage Union. I can get their support."

"Should we submit the evidence provided by Vincent? Clearly, the enemy possesses great expertise in Puppet Magic," Charlotte suggested.

"I’m just worried about the kid. The enemy wizards have already attacked Rockwell City, and the news has spread across the magic city and the surrounding satellite cities," Elder Dana said.

"Everyone now knows that Vincent owns an appraisal business. His men were there during the attack on Rockwell City. I heard they were visiting each city offering appraisal services," Elder Dana continued.

"I think that was Vincent’s plan to gather information. By framing it that way, no one can legally stop them from doing business. Even the Elemental Magic Tower had to yield an inch," Charlotte noted.

"Hmph."

"If he’s clever, what about the others? He has already contributed more than enough. It’s only because we didn’t make things public. Otherwise his appraisal team stopped long ago."

"I received news that the Dark Silver Faction suspects Vincent’s appraisal team found something in Rockwell City," Elder Dana told them.

Hearing that, the expressions on Erwin and Charlotte’s faces changed, while Hellen simply listened to the ongoing stories of Vincent and his men. She was deeply surprised in heart.
