City Gate
"You guys again..."
"What are you guys doing here?" Roger asked in a cold tone.
He had come here on the orders of City Lord Robert. City Lord Robert didn’t know that he was the killer who left behind the marker.
Just as he thought everything had settled down, he didn’t expect to see these people again.
"We are leaving the city," I replied.
Hearing that, Roger was taken aback. He absolutely could not let these people leave. Especially the masked man—he could not let him leave this place.
Why? Because he had committed those murders. If City Lord Robert found out about the killer later, it would become a problem for him.
Anger surged in his heart. He was about to lash out, but something appeared before him and knocked him out. Roger lay on the ground, unconscious.
The person who did this act was none other than Old Man Rock. Seeing that, everyone was stunned.
"Elder Rock, I didn’t expect you were such a short-tempered person," Otto said all of a sudden.
Patrick let out a chuckle. Hank had a faint smile on the corner of his mouth. Old Man Rock didn’t say anything and returned to his position.
I waved my hand and exited through the gate. The members followed me. The other city guards didn’t dare to do anything.
Their City Guard Captain was down himself. The other guards were no match for us, so the city guards stayed away from the gate.
Next, we left Rockwell City for good. After reaching a safe distance, I brought the Raven Aircraft outside.
The members and I went inside. I sat down in the cockpit while the members were seated in the cabin.
Before starting the aircraft, I took the map out and began to view our next destination. I noticed the next city was actually far away.
It was called Dark Moon City. The name itself sounded powerful, but in a negative way. I didn’t know why, but this city seemed important to me.
I had already gathered and shared enough information. I didn’t know whether the Mage City was aware of it or not.
"Dark Moon City," I uttered.
A quick gleam appeared in my eyes.
Since I was using an alternate identity, I decided to explore the city. There was nothing wrong with that. Then, I set my destination to the next city.
Buzz!
The craft departed from the location and started heading towards Dark Moon City. The members were clueless; the team didn’t know that Dark Moon City was going to be the most dangerous place yet.
...
Magic City
Meanwhile, shocking news was shaking both Magic City and the surrounding satellite cities—the news about the attack on Rockwell City’s City Lord.
At first, the news was well hidden, but nobody knew who leaked it. Soon, every Wizard family came to know about the attack on City Lord Robert.
The news terrified the people, but there were others who were mostly interested in such news. They were none other than the Magic Tower Wizards.
Every Magic Tower Wizard was competing with the others to surpass them.
Earlier, it was Holden Barrett who made a name for himself. Then, it didn’t take long for many other wizards to follow suit.
All the Magic Towers had shown their representatives. Comparisons had already begun to appear. Many had already started talking about Supreme Wizard Vincent Carey.
Unfortunately, they hadn’t seen him make an appearance. The last known news floating around the inner circle was that Vincent Carey’s Appraisal Shop was attacked by Black Tower Wizard Remi.
The news was kept a close secret, but those with a good background easily found out. Vincent Carey had disappeared, but his staff, Appraiser Frank and the others, were exploring the outer territory cities one by one.
The outer territory cities were vast. The spies and stalkers were confused; they didn’t know the logic behind the others visiting each city.
So, they lost track of Vincent Carey. They also ignored the activities of Appraiser Frank and his members.
But there were people from other factions who were thinking otherwise. If they wanted to find Vincent Carey, then troubling his members was a wise choice.
The people of the Wind Elemental Tower and Flame Elemental Tower harbored these intentions. But they were warned by their elders earlier.
The Black Tower lost face because of their Forbidden Wizard Remi. He went after Vincent Carey despite the warning from the elders of the Mage Union.
At the same time, some families and forces wanted to use the help of the Magic Tower. Because Rockwell City was damaged, they could use this opportunity to force Appraiser Frank and make him owe them something.
Unfortunately, all of it was for naught. They didn’t know that Appraiser Frank had anticipated all of these things and escaped from the city.
These families made contact with City Lord Robert. They wanted Robert to take action against Appraiser Frank and the others. When Robert heard the idea from the Wizard families, he broke into a cold sweat.
He knew Appraiser Frank was working for Supreme Wizard Vincent, who was extremely powerful. He could not afford to make a bad decision.
City Lord Robert was enraged. Since these families were unrelenting, he summoned one of his men and sent him there to investigate.
One of his officials went to the city gate and found that Appraiser Frank and his friends had escaped the city. It was too late to catch up to them.
When the news was heard by the City Lord, he was dumbfounded again. He had almost offended the Silver Tower for no reason.
Though he might be the City Lord of Rockwell City, he kept his eyes and ears open in Magic City. He was getting timely updates from his people as well.
He wouldn’t fall for the trick again.
He ignored their calls and continued to focus on recovering.
All the people sitting in Magic City were disappointed again. Nobody wanted to be used as a weapon.
Meanwhile,
The Barrett Family was going to host a banquet. They wanted to share information with like minded people, especially the higher-ups of the Barrett Family.
