Charlotte then advised Vincent Carey to leave Rockwell City. There was no point in staying there. She was afraid that the enemy might attack the city again.
She didn’t want Vincent to get trapped in the crossfire. After the talk, she ended the call. She then thanked Manager Lara as well.
Manager Lara had been in constant touch with Vincent Carey. She was able to collect information and share it with her.
Lord Charlotte had other work to do. She decided to share the information with Elder Dana on the way, so she left the Silver Tower.
Manager Lara watched her leave. She then went back to her office.
...
Rockwell City
Back in the hotel room, I was watching the news. There was no report on the City Lord; he seemed to be under isolated treatment.
The city officials were giving a briefing to the media houses. The reporters were asking about the evil wizards, but the officials didn’t have a clue about them.
When the reporters raised questions about the screening process, the officials looked for City Guard Captain Roger, but he was unreachable.
Only he could provide answers as to whether he had allowed the people to enter or not. So, the officials said that they were investigating the matter.
I was watching this drama play out on the news channel. Fortunately, Lord Charlotte had given me the green light to leave the city.
Next, I collected my thoughts and appeared inside the system space. Zero Puppet was standing in its black steel form.
The Evil Wizard was awake. He was conscious. The piece of cloth covering his face was on the ground. His head was lowered.
The Zero Puppet transformed into red smoke.
I saw the wizard and checked his profile with the system. Wizard Tim felt the piercing gaze. He raised his head and looked toward the person standing in front of him.
He was shocked. He saw a young man who was a Supreme Wizard as well. But Tim was in no condition to think clearly.
He had been mentally tortured by something unknown earlier. Not only that, but he was forced to confess everything.
On the other hand, I saw the contorted expression on his face. He seemed to have been tortured.
I used the system function to check his mental condition.
[Ding! The target’s mental defense is broken.]
[Ding! Host can interrogate the person easily.]
I heard the system voice in my mind. Hearing that, relief flashed in my eyes. It wouldn’t be as hard as I thought.
"What’s your name?" I asked.
Hearing that, the Evil Wizard was taken aback.
"My name is Tim," he uttered unconsciously.
I nodded. I looked toward the Zero Puppet in its red smoke form. It appeared the Zero Puppet had collected enough information.
"What have you done in the city?" I asked.
"I attacked the small businesses and plundered their wealth," he said.
I raised my eyebrows.
"That’s all? What else have you done?" I asked.
"I killed 23 people," Tim said.
A hint of coldness appeared in my eyes. I didn’t expect him to kill this many people. The news channels had reported fewer.
Then I thought of the important information.
"What is your organization called?" I asked.
Hearing that, Wizard Tim was about to answer. The next second, his face contorted further and his eyes widened. Something triggered.
[Ding! Target’s mental power is dangerously low.]
[Ding! A hidden spell has been activated on the target.]
I heard the system voice in my mind. My expression changed drastically. Under my shocked gaze, the Evil Supreme Wizard collapsed onto the ground.
Boom!
An explosion occurred. The shock force hit me, but I withstood the pressure. The rest of the force traveled across the blue grid space.
It couldn’t do anything to me or the Zero Puppet. When the aftermath settled, I saw the headless body of the Evil Wizard.
The head was gone; not even blood was spilled on the ground. No remains of the head could be seen.
My heart stirred. I didn’t know what had just happened. I asked the system.
[Ding! There is a secret mental spell hidden deep in the mind of the target.]
[Ding! It got triggered and destroyed the mind.]
I heard the system voice in my mind. Then I turned toward the Zero Puppet. I wondered how it had done it.
The Zero Puppet once again reverted to its original form, appearing as a Black Steel Knight.
"Zero, how did you conduct the interrogation?" I asked.
"Master, I didn’t appear in front of him. I scared him completely before getting information from him," Zero Puppet said.
Hearing that, my eyes filled with understanding. The hidden spell must have sensed my presence, but the Puppet was different.
It was not human and had the strength of a Magic Lord. No Supreme Wizard could sense the presence of the Zero Puppet.
After gaining some clarity, I put away unnecessary thoughts and began to have a discussion with the Zero Puppet.
"Tell me what you collected from him," I said to the puppet.
The Zero Puppet began to explain from the beginning.
As time passed, my expression eased. The Zero Puppet had collected enough information. Specifically, the name of the organization was indeed "Covenant."
It brought me a huge sigh of relief. I had told the same thing to Lord Charlotte.
10 minutes later,
I had heard everything. A storm set off in my heart. These people were just the lowest ranks of the Covenant Organization. They still have many Magic Lords and Forbidden Wizards.
If they were to come out and launch an attack on the city, no one could stop them. I didn’t know what the Mage Union could do.
Swoosh!
I appeared back in the room. I took the device out and called Manager Lara. This time, she immediately picked up the call.
"What did you find this time?" she asked.
Hearing that, I replied, "I want to know what Lord Charlotte said."
"She is going to inform Elder Dana later. She was sure that the Mage Union would take action," Lara said.
I sighed inwardly. Lord Charlotte was fast to react. She might have recognized the enemy organization’s name.
