City Gate
City Lord Robert and the others thought of leaving the place, but then Robert’s senses picked up something. He saw a few black figures rushing toward them.
No, those seven figures were rushing toward the city gate.
"They are here. Get ready to fight," Robert said to them all of a sudden.
Gasps!
A commotion occurred. The wizards from the noble families were about ready to leave, but they changed their minds after hearing the command.
They looked around and spotted the figures as well. The wizards from the families were Supreme Wizards as well.
They saw those figures and rushed to stop them. In a flash, they came into contact with each other. Next, a fight took place.
Boom!
A powerful explosion occurred. The shock force impacted the surroundings. The nearby buildings were hit hard and razed to the ground.
Boom!
The Covenant’s Senior Wizard confronted a wizard from a Wizard Family. The Senior Wizard silently cast a magic spell.
The spell’s power impacted the family wizard. He stood frozen, his eyes completely blank. The Senior Wizard walked past him in a flash.
He reached the city gate in a few steps, but someone blocked his path. The person was none other than City Lord Robert.
Boom!
Robert released Magic Lord-level mana pressure from his body. He didn’t want to repeat his mistakes; he wouldn’t let another enemy escape.
He didn’t expect there to be six more enemies in the city. He now understood why there was so much crime in the city.
The Senior Wizard was not afraid. Each one of the Covenant wizards had something to deal with a Magic Lord, especially since they were Supreme Wizards.
He took out a black-colored object from his storage ring. As the object appeared in his hand, it released evil mana.
City Lord Robert was taken aback. He saw the black object in the hands of the enemy. The object appeared to be a black heart.
It was filled with evil mana. The heart was black in color, and City Lord Robert felt a sense of crisis emanating from it.
Before he could do anything, the Senior Wizard crushed the black heart. The next second, extremely powerful evil mana exploded.
Boom!
The evil mana spread around the area. City Lord Robert took the brunt of it, his body covered in the evil mana.
The evil mana, like a living thing, entered his body.
City Lord Robert was terrified. He tried to force the evil entity out of his body, but it was taking time.
Aaahhh!
The cries of other wizards were heard as well; they were all attacked by the Covenant wizards.
Thud!
Amaira was able to knock down a wizard before he could do anything about it. The family wizards were Supreme Wizards, but they were weak in front of the Covenant Wizards.
They seemed weak and lacked battle awareness. They were totally clueless about the enemy, whereas the Covenant Wizards were playing with them.
The Senior Wizard smiled and left the city through the gate. Similarly, the other five wizards used their trump cards to escape.
In the blink of an eye, all of them left the city through the gate and gathered at one point.
Meanwhile,
I was near the city gate. The Zero Puppet was behind me. The other members, including the Manager, were waiting on the other side.
None of us went forward to help them or intervene in the fight that had happened earlier.
I turned toward the Zero Puppet and said, "Go back and knock down the person again. If possible, give him a potion."
The Zero Puppet agreed. In its red smoke form, it left the city through the gate. I had thought of leaving the city earlier, but the unexpected fight had caught everyone off guard.
Then I called the members and asked them to return to the hotel. The Manager too felt things were beyond anyone’s control, so she returned as well.
I took a look at the wizards affected by the evil mana, including the City Lord. Everyone sat down and tried to purge the evil mana through concentration.
Crowds were standing around them. I didn’t expect the City Lord to fail; it should have been an easy catch for him, yet the Covenant wizards were fully prepared.
I took one last look at them and moved toward the gate. There were guards down as well, so I helped a few of them stand up.
Swoosh!
Next, I used the opportunity to leave through the gate. Then I used the System function to track the Zero Puppet.
As the owner of the Star Puppet Inheritance, the System provided the results. Following the guidance, I moved toward the location.
It didn’t take long for me to get there. I saw the Zero Puppet waiting for me, hovering in its red smoke form at a particular spot.
I arrived in front of the location and saw a black-clothed wizard. His face was covered in black cloth, which confirmed his identity.
It matched the identity shown on the news. Then I used the System’s probe function and viewed his details.
The results surprised me, but the information cleared my doubts as well.
"Evil scroll magic," I uttered.
It was a rare type of magic, but it had to do with evil mana. No wonder he was able to set the buildings on fire.
"I’ll put him in there. You have to watch over him. If he wakes up, try to collect information from him," I said to the puppet.
The Zero Puppet agreed.
Next, I put both of them inside the System space. I collected my thoughts and considered the other Covenant Wizards.
I didn’t know whether they were waiting for the missing person. I used the System to scan the surroundings.
After confirming that there was no danger, I took out the device and called Manager Lara, hoping the call would connect soon.
The place was not far from the city, and the call soon connected.
"Vincent, what happened?"
"Why are you calling me at this time of night?" Lara asked.
I took a deep breath and said, "Trouble."
