I continued to look at the green necklace, trying to figure out what was wrong.
At the same time, the old woman was also looking at the masked man. She was wondering whether Appraiser Frank could find it.
She had heard that his reputation was great. He was hired by a member of the Silver Tower. For them, the Magic Tower was a long distance away.
It was already a great chance for them to meet someone related to the Magic Tower. The old butler was standing quietly behind her.
But he was the Appraiser observing the necklace. His eyes flashed with emotion for a second.
[Ding! The old butler showed a flicker of interest.]
I heard the system voice in my mind. I didn’t raise my head, but my heart stirred. Why would the old man show interest?
I continued to look at the necklace. I didn’t find anything. I decided to use the system function right now.
[Ding! The antique necklace has a lingering curse rule left by a Forbidden Wizard.]
[Ding! The user will be affected by the curse. Over a long period of time, they will lose their lifeforce.]
[Eventually, they will run out of their lifespan. The time period varies depending upon the wizard level of the user.]
I heard the system explanation in my mind. I was shocked. Don’t tell me the old woman uses this daily.
Then I raised my head and looked toward the old woman. Next, I saw the butler. To be on the safe side, I used the system probe function on both of them.
I viewed their profiles. Both of them were elemental wizards. They didn’t have curse magic power.
"Appraiser Frank, if you have something to say, you can say it freely. The old butler is a loyal person," she said.
"Yes, I did find something. But before that, I want 500 mid-grade mana stones," I said flatly.
The old woman was taken aback. She was not surprised by the price; instead, she hadn’t expected the Appraiser to find something.
She continued to look at him in disbelief.
"I’m not guessing it. I know it for a fact. You can pay me without a worry," I added.
Hearing that, the old woman was convinced. She then placed a pouch on the table. I scanned the pouch before putting it inside my storage bracelet.
Then I leaned back and looked toward them.
The old butler once again showed some interest.
"This green necklace is cursed. It has a lingering curse rule left by a Forbidden Wizard."
"Those who wear it will find their lifespan ending over a period of time. The time depends upon their wizard level," I said to her.
Hearing that, the old woman lost her composure. Even the old butler was shocked.
Looking at their reactions, they seemed to know something prior to this.
"It appears you know something," I said.
"I lost someone in the family. We didn’t find any foul play. The death didn’t seem to be natural as well, because wizards have a long lifespan."
"Now that you have explained it, everything makes sense now," she said.
"Thank you," she said, standing up.
"I did my job," I replied.
The old woman nodded her head. She decided to leave. Then she left the room, followed by the old butler.
My mouth curved into an arc. I didn’t expect to come across two strange things right away.
Time passed.
One after another, the guests came. I solved each of their problems.
Meanwhile,
City Lord Kael saw the customers leaving with satisfaction. Though many of them didn’t show any emotions, he was the City Lord.
He knew those people got what they wanted as well. He couldn’t help but raise his eyebrows.
At first, he suspected Appraiser Frank had come here with motives. But he started to change his mind.
Appraiser Frank must have wanted to take a break in the city, but somehow the local forces exposed his identity.
Now he was making use of the opportunity to earn resources. Since there was nothing suspicious going on, he decided to go back.
When it came to safety, he saw Appraiser Frank’s own team was stronger. No one was going to offend the Magic Lord and Supreme Wizards.
He then returned to his office.
On the other hand, Otto, Patrick, Hank, and old man Rock were doing their work. The guests had recognized them as well.
So they were obedient. No one was causing any problems. They were afraid that their actions could offend these people.
After all, everyone wanted to meet Appraiser Frank. This made the job of the members easy.
Otto was using his magic power to listen to the conversations. Since most of them had quieted down, he was not getting that much information.
Hank was using his magic quietly to check whether anyone was trying to sneak in.
Patrick and old man Rock were observing the people, including the city officials. In a few hours, the event was going to end.
Anything could happen at the last moment. Their Master wanted them to stay vigilant.
An hour later,
I decided to take a break after sending the person out. I told Otto not to allow others in for 10 minutes.
I leaned against the chair and closed my eyes.
At the same time, a red smoke entered the room. It got closer to the table before reverting back to its original form.
"Master," the zero puppet greeted me.
I opened my eyes and looked toward the zero puppet.
"Is something up?" I asked.
"An unknown Magic Lord got an invitation to the event. He is not from a local force," the zero puppet said.
Hearing that, I raised my eyebrows in surprise.
"Finally, there is something. I was getting bored here," I said.
"Is he alone?" I asked.
"Yes, he is alone. He is waiting at the guest hall right now," the zero puppet said.
"Thanks for informing me. I will take care of him. Resume your work and check whether any more people are willing to show up," I said to the puppet.
Swoosh!
The puppet transformed into the red smoke and left the room.
I’m wondering who this Magic Lord could be. If he came here to attack me, then he will be sorry.
