The group prepares for a midnight event, with the protagonist instructing his team to remain vigilant and avoid acting independently. They travel to the City Lord's office, where the protagonist discusses arrangements with City Lord Kael and ensures his team is positioned to monitor the arriving guests.

Guest hall

In the room, I noticed the arrival of many guests. There were at least 200 people in the room. I decided to start that appraisal service.

Then I called Otto and told him to send the people according to the invitation cards.

A few minutes later,

Two people entered the room. One of them was a middle-aged man. The other one was a young man slightly older than me.

But both of them were not Supreme Wizards. The middle-aged man was a level-9 Wizard. The young man was a level-8 Wizard.

It was already a high standard considering his age. Not everyone could be like the people in the Magic City.

"Appraiser Frank!"

They greeted me. Hearing that, I told them to take a seat. Both people sat opposite me.

"Tell me, what have you brought?" I asked.

I went straight to the topic. I didn’t want to waste time here.

The middle-aged man and the young man seemed to be father and son. They looked at each other. The young man then took out something from his storage bracelet.

He placed it on the table. My gaze fell on the square-shaped black metal. I raised my eyebrows in surprise.

Because it was not a piece of scrap. There was a design pattern on the metal. I picked up the metal piece and began to inspect it.

One side of the metal had beautiful design patterns. But the outer edges were a little faded.

Then I turned it to the other side. I saw something written on the flat side. There was no pattern, except there seemed to be a faded character or symbol.

The metal piece weighed heavy as well. I immediately felt it was no ordinary item.

I noticed the gaze of the middle-aged man and the young man. They wanted to know the answer.

"System, what is this thing?" I asked the system in my mind.

[Ding! It matches the historical records of an ancient token. It’s a badge of a hidden wizard force.]

I heard the system’s voice in my mind. My heart stirred internally. Because I had a similar token in the system space.

But I had kept it like trash. I never looked for the hidden force. Because I had joined the Mage Union by that time.

I pushed away my thoughts and looked at the duo.

"I have some guesses about the item, but I’m not sure. Do you guys want to listen?" I said.

Hearing that, both the middle-aged man and the young man were delighted.

"Yes, Appraiser Frank, tell us about the metal piece," the middle-aged man said.

"500 mid-grade mana stones," I stated the price.

Gasp!

Hearing that, both of them were stunned. The mid-grade mana stones were not that useful to me. I consumed super-grade mana stones.

But it was still a top resource for the locals.

"Trust me, the information is worth it," I added.

The young man looked at his father. The middle-aged man understood the gaze. He gritted his teeth and placed a mana pouch on the table.

I picked up the mana pouch and scanned it using the system. There was no falsehood. I put away the pouch inside my storage bracelet.

Both of them were surprised. I ignored their reaction and said, "I have read some historical records. This metal piece matches the token of an ancient wizard force."

"A token?" the middle-aged man uttered.

"It could be a badge," I said.

The middle-aged man’s eyes flashed with understanding. The young man was the most excited.

Seeing that they were on cloud nine, I decided to pour cold water on them.

"Don’t be too happy. It’s an ancient wizard force. It is unclear if that wizard force still exists. On top of that, don’t reveal anything, including expressions, before going to your home," I said in a calm tone.

Hearing that, both of them fell silent.

They understood the gravity of the situation.

"Thanks for the reminder!"

"Appraiser Frank, we are leaving then," the middle-aged man said.

The young man thanked me as well. I nodded to them. Then, both of them left the room.

Next, an old woman walked into the room. She was accompanied by an old man. The old man was dressed in a tuxedo. Clearly, he was a butler.

The old woman could be the head of the family.

I stood up and asked the woman to sit. The old woman was taken aback. She didn’t expect to receive such a gesture.

Her tense brows relaxed. The old man kept a quiet and neutral face. He stood behind the old woman.

"How may I help you?" I asked before sitting on my chair.

"Appraiser Frank, I’m happy that you are holding this event. There is no need for you to do that considering the ongoing situation," the old woman first appreciated.

Hearing that, I smiled and replied, "There are pros and cons. I want to save resources."

The old woman smiled. Then she took out a jewelry box from her storage bracelet. The jewelry box itself was made of metal with green design patterns on it.

My gaze fell on it. The old woman saw this as well. Her smile widened.

"There is a family heirloom in it. I suspect something is wrong with the necklace. But I couldn’t find it. I have used the help of other appraisers as well."

"Even they have failed to detect anything," she added in a solemn tone.

Hearing that, I raised my eyebrows in surprise.

Then my gaze fell on the box. I used the function of the system right away.

[Ding! The metal box is safe. Host can open it.]

I heard the system’s voice in my mind. Then I opened the box. I placed the top cover to the side. My gaze then fell on the green jewel stone jewelry.

At first, I thought the jewelry was beautiful. Like she said, it was an heirloom and definitely had an ancient vibe to it. But I didn’t find anything wrong.

I continued to observe the jewel. I wanted to try to find something without the help of the system.
