The protagonist suspects Lord Charlotte is elsewhere after a failed connection attempt. Meanwhile, City Lord Kael prepares for a midnight event, aware of illicit activities and contacting his family for support. His office is bugged by a red smoke spy. Local forces and nearby cities scramble for invitations to the exclusive appraisal event. The protagonist trains in the Gregor Mansion after discovering casualties, while the red smoke spy continues to monitor. The protagonist receives intel about City Lord Kael's background, deeming him non-threatening for the event. He then checks in with Otto, Patrick, Hank, and old man Rock, confirming he has intel but awaits higher-up confirmation before deciding on the next move.

Hotel room

The members understood the situation. They decided not to think too much. I have also warned them not to act separately without my permission.

I have revealed my intentions that I’m not eager to get rewards. Doing enough was okay for me to gain attention from the higher-ups.

There is no need to compete with the other Supreme Wizards and members from various forces.

Otto, Patrick, Hank, and old man Rock understood. Their earlier confusion had vanished from their minds.

They had made the right decision earlier. Otherwise, they would have thought of exploring the city alone. Now that they heard the warning, they won’t act without orders.

After having a chat with the members, I returned to the room and began to rest.

Time passed.

That evening, I began to get ready. The Zero puppet entered the room in the form of red smoke.

Then I learned from the puppet that it had tried to collect intel from a few places. Then it had entered a bookstore to enrich the database.

Knowing that, I was not surprised. I’m happy that it was not spotted by powerful wizards. There are no Magic Lords and Forbidden Wizards in the city.

Except the old man Rock, who is with me. But I can’t say the same for tonight. Who knows? A Magic Lord might appear. So I won’t take things carelessly.

After getting ready, I put the Zero puppet inside the core. I told the Zero puppet to dispose of the corpses. The Zero puppet used magic liquid to destroy the corpses.

On the other hand, I appeared outside. Then I wore a face mask. Next, I left the room and came to the living area.

I saw that the members have gathered as well. The event is scheduled at midnight. There are still a few hours left.

I sat on the sofa and turned on the big screen. Next, the news started to play.

Then we sat on the sofa and continued to watch the news. Otto, Patrick, Hank, and old man Rock were watching the news as well.

They knew there was some time left before the actual event.

Time passed.

That night, we left the hotel room and came to the hotel ground floor. There were officials who were ready to take us to the City Lord’s office.

They had their own vehicles. We entered their vehicles. I entered one of the three cars. Otto, Patrick, Hank, and Rock entered the other two cars.

A few minutes later,

The three cars departed from the place. They rose from the ground and appeared in midair. The cars began going towards the destination.

Soon, the cars reached the City Lord’s office. The main gate was opened. One by one, the cars entered the place.

They came to the guest hall and parked in front of the hall. Then I stepped out of the car. So did the others.

Then the staff there guided us to the guest hall. We walked inside. My gaze swept across the place. I saw City Lord Kael speaking to officials.

I raised my eyebrows in surprise. I didn’t expect him to be here this early. Kael turned around and saw us as well.

He quickly approached us and greeted us. We greeted him in response.

"Appraiser Frank, all the arrangements have been made. The guests will wait here. But you have a separate room to offer your service."

"But I don’t know what your members will do," Kael asked.

"They will monitor the crowd," I replied.

"Okay," Kael said.

Then I told the members to stay here, and come to me if anything important comes up. The members agreed.

Then I went with the City Lord to the room. We entered inside a wide, spacious room. We then sat down on the sofa.

"City Lord, thanks for the arrangement. I didn’t expect you to get involved personally. If you have anything to appraise, then I’ll offer you free service for your help this time," I said to him.

Hearing that, City Lord Kael was taken aback. He didn’t expect to get such an offer.

"Thanks, but I don’t have anything with me right now," Kael said with a smile.

"Don’t worry, you can come to my shop in the Crystal City next time," I said.

Kael agreed to that. Then we spoke for a few minutes before he left the place for office work. I told him not to waste his time on me.

I can handle the crowd here. No one will make any noise in front of old man Rock, who is a Magic Lord.

Then I began to look around the room. I checked using the system. After knowing that the place was safe, I brought the Zero puppet outside.

The Zero puppet quickly turned into its red smoke form.

"We are in an event. Keep an eye on everything. The enemy might cause a surprise," I said to the Zero puppet.

The puppet understood the assignment and left the place.

Outside,

Otto, Patrick, Hank, and old man Rock were walking in the guest hall. They had decided to keep an eye on the hidden spots as well.

Though the Master had collected intel, they knew that today’s event could bring unexpected surprises.

If the hostile forces wanted to cause trouble, then today would be a good choice.

As time passed, the guests started to arrive. A guest with an invitation can bring two people with him.

The wizard families had sent their descendants. They wanted their descendants to get acquainted with Appraiser Frank.

If Appraiser Frank recognizes them, then it would be good for their family. The guests entered the hall. They were told to sit on the chairs.

As time passed, a larger number of people appeared. Everyone was bringing two more people with them. Everyone was well dressed.

Some people wanted to make a good impression. Among them, there were many female guests as well. Most of them were unmarried.

Though their chances were slim, the local forces were trying every way possible.

City Lord Kael didn’t leave completely. Instead, he watched the guests entering the hall one by one. His mouth twitched. He had still underestimated the importance of the event.

He could see some of the descendants who rarely appear in the city had come for the event.
