Great Capital City

I exited the imposing skyscraper with an air of ease. Soon after, I hailed a cab and was back at the hotel within an hour. The entire operation proceeded without a hitch from start to finish.

I remained completely unobserved by any pursuers throughout the entire ordeal. However, I recognized the critical importance of my next move and resolved to check out of the hotel immediately.

One hour later,

The hotel staff made no difficulties as I departed. They even returned the unused mana stones, citing the high demand for rooms, which allowed them to charge a premium. My departure was thus expedited.

Stepping out onto the main street, I approached a waiting cab driver. I inquired about available transport services, specifically seeking passage to Pebble City, a border town nestled against the mountain range.

He appeared unfazed by my request, readily acknowledging several transport services and agreeing to take me to one. I settled into the vehicle.

With a gentle hum, the driver engaged the engine, and the car lifted off the ground. It ascended into mid-air, commencing its journey towards our destination through the heavens.

My gaze drifted to the scenery blurring past the window. A profound sense of relief washed over me as I acknowledged the smooth progression of events. My only concern now rested with Elder Barry, who, I suspected, had withheld crucial information from me.

Nevertheless, I had succeeded in apprehending the esteemed Young Master Raymond of the formidable Raymond Family. Once I ensured the young man had cured the little girl, I would promptly depart this perilous locale.

...

Meanwhile,

The sleek, black air carrier arrived at the grounds of the Raymond Family Estate. A designated clearing awaited its arrival, prepared for the sky vessel.

The obsidian carrier descended gracefully and touched down. Yet, the accompanying wizards remained steadfast on the deck.

The elder Butler was present as well. He proceeded to re-examine the cabin room, only to find it once again vacant.

The old man’s composure shattered. Panic began to set in. Young Master Raymond had vanished directly under his watchful eyes.

He recalled noticing a suspicious individual earlier and had attempted to locate them with the manager's assistance, but their efforts proved fruitless.

Young Master Raymond's retinue stood outside, their attention fixed upon the distressed Butler.

Previously, the followers had exuded confidence, certain that Young Master Raymond had merely stepped away temporarily. Mere moments ago, their worry had been non-existent.

However, the current expressions on their faces mirrored each other as they observed the stark fear etched on the Butler's countenance.

Some had harbored private doubts earlier but had refrained from voicing them. This time, though, their composure completely disintegrated.

"Butler, what is happening?" one of the followers demanded.

He was a powerful Supreme Wizard. Upon hearing his question, the others turned their gazes toward the Butler, who remained conspicuously silent.

Other family members bore witness to the unfolding situation. Though it was their cue to depart, not a single one moved to leave.

They awaited the Butler's explanation, but the Butler himself was ensnared in his own predicament.

The black carrier remained stationary on the ground for an extended period, exceeding ten minutes, yet neither family members nor staff disembarked.

This unusual delay was noted by other family members, who observed that the carrier had been parked there for an unusually long duration.

Four wizards from the outer circle, identified as Supreme Wizards, were present. Their distinct uniforms set them apart from the rest.

Their presence was immediately recognized by all.

Swoosh!

Abruptly, the four wizards abandoned their posts and moved with haste toward the sky carrier.

Anticipating the return of their Young Master Raymond, they boarded the carrier in the blink of an eye.

Upon reaching the deck, they encountered the family guards and several members from the branch families.

The four wizards landed on the deck and turned their attention to the Butler, who stood just outside the cabin.

The followers were in the midst of confronting the Butler.

"What is transpiring here?" one of the four wizards inquired.

At his words, a hush fell over the crowd. All eyes shifted towards the four wizards, their distinctive uniforms confirming their identities.

"Outer circle elders," a follower announced loudly.

The Butler's expression underwent a dramatic transformation.

He had not anticipated the arrival of the outer circle elders.

One of the outer circle elders approached the Butler directly.

"Inform me of the situation," he commanded.

The remaining three outer circle elders positioned themselves behind him, amplifying the palpable tension. The assembled staff and guards were oblivious to the full scope of the events.

However, they were acutely aware that their young master was missing, having last been seen entering the cabin room.

The Butler trembled slightly, drawing a deep breath. Though they held nominally equal authority, the Butler was currently the one accountable.

He declared solemnly, "Young Master Raymond vanished without a word."

Thunderclap!

His pronouncement struck everyone present like a thunderclap, reverberating through their stunned minds.

Disbelief washed over them. How could their young master possibly disappear? Every single one had witnessed him enter the cabin room.

No one had assaulted the air carrier. It was merely possible that Young Master Raymond had departed of his own accord. The retainers were equally bewildered. While they had assumed the Young Master had ventured elsewhere, the Butler's declaration presented an entirely novel perspective. Speechless, they all turned their gaze to the aged Butler. Perhaps Young Master Raymond was undertaking some clandestine mission, they speculated. The elders of the outer circle were also perplexed. They discerned that the old man did not appear to be fabricating his statement. Especially since the surrounding reactions mirrored their own confusion. Consequently, the Outer Circle Elders commenced their interrogations, seeking to ascertain the circumstances. Upon questioning those present, they ascertained that Young Master Raymond had last been observed within his cabin and had not egressed it. The elderly Butler had remained stationed outside throughout the duration, and thus, lacking personal knowledge, he had announced the Young Master's disappearance. The elders of the outer circle found themselves at a loss, unable to render a conclusive judgment. It was decided they would inform the superior authorities. Swiftly, the news was destined to reach the ears of the Family Head.
