Border
The blue-eyed Magic Lords and their associates meticulously scoured the area, yet no hidden individuals were discovered. The blue-eyed mage found it difficult to accept what he was seeing.
Many had attempted to breach Nyx Land before, but none had ever succeeded. Tragically, the vast majority perished in the attempt.
Only a select few managed to earn the favor and become retainers of Young Master Raymond.
At this precise moment, a phone call interrupted the proceedings, ringing for one of the blue-eyed mage's companions. He answered, and in the subsequent second, his demeanor shifted dramatically.
He had received information of critical importance, eclipsing the urgency of their current task. Once the call concluded, he turned to face his friend.
"I've received significant news," he stated.
"What is it?" the blue-eyed wizard inquired, his voice tinged with irritation.
"Young Master Raymond has made the decision to return. His arrival at the border is imminent," the companion responded.
Upon hearing this revelation, the expressions of everyone present, including the wizards flanking them, underwent a stark transformation.
Within the confines of Gregor Mansion, my own countenance grew stern. I had now identified the influential power backing their operations: none other than the formidable Raymond Family.
It was no surprise then that criminal organizations operated so freely here. Assuredly, no one would dare disturb the tranquility of the Young Master's presence.
Their esteemed Young Master was afforded the luxury of cultivating within Nyx Land undisturbed.
A flicker of comprehension illuminated my thoughts, yet I had also overheard a rather intriguing exchange. I had initially anticipated the necessity of venturing into that perilous territory myself.
However, if the individual himself was making an appearance, then intercepting him presented a more opportune strategy. My eyes gleamed with resolve. I resolved to adopt a waiting posture. This revised plan held a high probability of success.
Outside
The blue-eyed wizard slowly emerged from his reverie.
"All personnel, prepare yourselves to welcome the Young Master," he commanded.
A wave of cheers erupted from the assembled crowd, their excitement palpable. With the tournament drawing near, it was indeed an opportune moment for their Young Master's return.
Subsequently, a patient vigil commenced. Both Magic Lords momentarily set aside their pursuit of the escaped individual. Even if someone were to materialize before them, they likely wouldn't connect them to the previous incident.
Inside the Gregor Mansion
I began my preparations, donning a mask and wizardly robes, layering a magical cloak over them.
While ostensibly unnecessary, this attire would serve to mislead any who attempted to probe my presence, directing their suspicion towards the magical cloak's purported sensory-blocking properties.
Post noon,
A sleek, black air carrier of moderate size materialized in the heavens. Numerous wizards were visible upon its deck.
Beholding the sight of this dark vessel, the expressions of both Magic Lords contorted in shock. They swiftly ascended towards the carrier.
It was unequivocally the black carrier belonging to Young Master Raymond.
In a blur, they both alighted upon the deck, closely followed by the wizards affiliated with the Sand Tower, who also joined them. The black carrier continued its stately progression through the air.
Swoosh!
As the black carrier traversed the border, I materialized and swiftly positioned myself beneath the colossal transport, ensuring my concealment from observation. The maneuver proved successful.
A fleeting sense of relief washed over me, though I recognized it was not a sustainable solution. The immense carrier was destined for its next waypoint: the sand base.
Should any wizards be stationed at the sand base, my presence would undoubtedly be detected. I activated the system's probe function, diligently searching for an ingress point.
[Ding! Emergency entry/exit found.]
The system's notification chimed in my mind, instantly alleviating a significant burden from my shoulders. Following the provided directions, I located a modest entryway.
I utilized the system's probe function once more, this time to ascertain if any individuals were positioned on the other side.
The system's analysis returned negative. In the ensuing moment, I placed my hand upon the small portal.
Employing a magical incantation was obviated; my inherent connection to gravity permitted me to exert a degree of external control over magical power.
Boom!
Channeling my magical might, the principles of gravity magic were enacted. The next instant, the gateway succumbed to the immense pressure, collapsing inward and shattering completely.
The fractured remnants of the door plummeted earthward.
Without hesitation, I swiftly entered the breached opening and immediately retreated into the secure environs of the Gregor Mansion.
"Sigh!"
A weary exhalation escaped my lips. That was an exceedingly close call. Nevertheless, I felt confident that the disruption caused by the damaged doorway would not go unnoticed. I proceeded to the control room to monitor the situation.
Precisely as I had anticipated, an investigation was indeed initiated. The surveillance mirror confirmed my suspicions.
A technician from the operating crew observed the missing doorway, now an open threshold. There was no indication of any hostile action or other external interference.
He reasoned that if an intruder had been present, the Magic Lords would have surely detected them by now. His thoughts then turned to Young Master Raymond, his eyes swelling with reverence.
He concluded that nothing could elude the Young Master's perception and therefore dismissed the possibility of an unauthorized entry, attributing the damage instead to subpar maintenance.
He promptly dispatched an order for a specialist in metal magic to secure the opening. The incident was thus downplayed, reported to superiors merely as a case of a faulty door, and left the scene without fabricating a larger issue.
Before long, an individual skilled in metal magic arrived. This artisan skillfully conjured a new gateway using arcane energies.
Shortly after their departure, I emerged once more. Employing the system for verification, I ensured the area was clear of any observers. Then, I commenced my clandestine exploration of the facility. The undertaking carried substantial risk, yet I found myself without alternative avenues.
Before long, my eyes landed on a male employee whose stature matched my own, sporting the distinct uniform of the Raymond Family. Approaching him, I gently placed a hand on his shoulder. Without allowing the man a chance to turn, I swiftly drew him into the confines of the system space. This individual was no pushover; he was a Supreme Wizard. Though utterly perplexed by the sudden appearance of the blue grid surrounding him, his bewilderment was short-lived. Before he could even formulate a plan, I rendered him unconscious. With a dull thud, the wizard collapsed. I relieved him of his uniform, leaving him clad only in his undergarments. Donning the fresh attire, I reappeared back within the ship's interior. The captured staff member remained confined, utterly helpless. I had discarded the mask for now, as its conspicuous nature would likely draw unwanted attention. My next move involved utilizing the system to pinpoint the most secure location. The system's indicator directed me to the deck situated directly above. I inhaled deeply, having committed to this perilous course of action. Approaching someone of such caliber inherently necessitates embracing risk. With my decision made, I began my ascent towards the deck. Along the path, encounters with other staff members occurred. They, however, remained focused on their own duties, exhibiting no suspicion towards me whatsoever.
