Capital Border
From inside the vehicle, my gaze remained fixed on the scenery unfolding outside. The two Magic Lords had not yet departed the premises, seemingly unconvinced and still attempting to pinpoint my location. I simply shook my head.
A fleeting glint flashed in my eyes.
I hadn't anticipated the blue-eyed wizard pursuing me at the very last moment. My underestimation of them was apparent; they were monitoring the entire territory meticulously. Even their own subordinates' activities were subject to their scrutiny.
Furthermore, I suspected that the protective shield provided by the system had been detected by him. Unable to gauge my strength directly, he had come to investigate in person. I waited for them to leave, and they remained until the stroke of midnight.
A few minutes later,
Both individuals departed. However, I did not leave with them. Instead, I retired to my room for some much-needed sleep.
The following morning, I awoke with the dawn. Upon rising from my bed, my immediate thoughts turned to the situation outside.
I proceeded to the control room to assess the surroundings. When I appeared before the monitoring mirror, my eyes immediately fell upon it.
The next instant, I was taken aback. The blue-eyed wizard was standing just outside. I had no idea when he had arrived, but it was clear he had not abandoned his pursuit. A subtle seriousness crept into my expression.
I must reach Nyx Land today. I retrieved the map and examined it. The current area was characterized by numerous sand tower structures. My eyes then landed on a marked location: 'Sand Base'. This immediately struck me as the place I was in. So, my current location was indeed Sand Base. A short distance beyond, the map indicated the actual border, and reaching it would grant me entry into Nyx Land.
A flicker of hope ignited within me; I wouldn't have to waste any more time. With that resolve, I left my room and began my preparations.
One hour later,
I emerged outside. There was no sign of the Magic Lord. To ensure my safety, I activated the system's scanning function. The system detected no one in my immediate vicinity.
Swoosh!
In the very next moment, I propelled myself upwards and out of the opening above. I then swiftly departed the area, soaring through the air. The system would alert me if anyone pursued, but no such notification came. Even after ten minutes, no one was behind me, allowing me to concentrate on my forward journey.
Shortly thereafter,
Clouds began to swirl on the horizon, descending to the ground and starting to sweep across the landscape. Dust and smoke obscured the view. Observing this, I halted my progress. A sand hurricane was rapidly approaching.
Deciding to counter it with magic, I prepared myself. As the hurricane bore down on me:
"Repulsive Force!"
Powerful magic erupted from my body in the subsequent second. The expulsion of energy was instantaneous.
The repulsive force radiated outwards, encompassing the area.
In the blink of an eye, the force collided with the hurricane, resulting in an immediate explosion.
The immense gravitational force tore the hurricane asunder, causing it to disintegrate from the top down. However, the powerful backlash overturned the terrain, revealing the uneven ground beneath the barren surface.
I casually surveyed the aftermath. The shockwave had no effect on me; my body easily withstood it. Yet, the sight of the exposed land was startling. Numerous human skeletons lay scattered, having been buried beneath the sand. The recent attack had unearthed them.
Swoosh!
I moved closer to the pile of skeletons and examined their remains, utilizing the system's 'Probe' function.
[Ding! The bones of Supreme Wizards were detected.]
The system's voice echoed in my mind, filling me with shock. I then noticed the specifics: some bones were broken, and cracks marred the skulls, suggesting they had met their end by another's hand. Could it be that criminal gangs operating here utilized this border region as a clandestine dumping ground for corpses? I was stunned, then shook my head, deciding it was unwise to linger.
30 minutes later,
Finally, I reached the border, only to be utterly astonished by the sight. Before me lay an endless expanse of black land. I was merely transitioning from one desolate area to another, yet I could sense a palpable danger emanating from this dark terrain.
The next moment, I once again employed the system's power to probe the area.
[Ding! The place ahead is filled with dark mana.]
The system's voice resounded in my mind. This confirmed my suspicion: the land before me was indeed Nyx Land. However, I had an unsettling feeling that the situation was more complex than it appeared. How would one even enter such a place? I anticipated dangers at the border, but was there something I was unaware of? To be cautious, I used the system's 'Probe' function again. The results indicated no one was currently present. Yet, that nagging intuition persisted – something was amiss.
Swoosh!
I materialized within the Gregor Mansion and proceeded directly to the control room. Approaching the mirror, I stood before it, the situation outside now clearly visible.
Curiosity gnawed at me, wondering if anyone would show up. What if a threat emerged the moment I stepped onto the land? Danger might very well await me. Therefore, I resolved to bide my time. An hour passed. Suddenly, several figures materialized within the mirror's reflection. My breath hitched in surprise. My intuition proved correct; they had indeed arrived. My attention zeroed in on one individual. This person was none other than the wizard with striking blue eyes. Accompanying him were other mages from the Sand Base. A wry smile touched my lips. Images of the skeletal remains flashed in my memory. It was undoubtedly the doing of those wizards from the Sand Base. Besides their group, no other factions were apparent. The Sand Base likely had an ally or protector. I must remain cautious of them too.
