Capital Border
Amidst fierce winds, the vehicle soared through the sky. My gaze drifted outwards, observing the desolate, endless expanse of barren land. There were no visible threats approaching.
An hour later,
Everything had been proceeding smoothly until an abrupt shift occurred. The distant scenery began to blur ominously.
[Ding! A powerful sand hurricane is approaching the host.]
The system's voice echoed in my mind. This alert stirred my thoughts; the system's response time had clearly improved. I hadn't even sensed the approaching hurricane myself. The system's advancement was a welcome development.
I chose not to warn the mages inside. It was merely a natural phenomenon.
Not long after, the sand hurricane materialized. Swirling masses of sand became visible, a vortex churning ominously from the ground upwards.
The Supreme mages within the vehicle paid it no mind. Had the hurricane directly blocked their path, they likely would have driven straight through it.
As the storm drew nearer, contact seemed inevitable. Yet, I observed the mages remained unperturbed, seemingly accustomed to such environmental hazards.
I had contemplated eliminating them and commandeering the vehicle to the border. However, a more complex scenario lingered in my thoughts: the possibility of encountering the Five Magic Lords who had been pursuing me earlier.
If they were monitoring my movements, tracing my destination would be simple for them.
The sand hurricane intensified. Both pilots skillfully maneuvered, avoiding a direct impact, and the flying car glided effortlessly past the tempest.
Having safely cleared the hazardous zone, the flying cars continued their journey. The Supreme mages aboard showed no signs of alarm.
Time elapsed,
That night, the two flying cars arrived at their destination. Before me stood a series of towering structures constructed from sand, a clear testament to earth magic.
The Supreme mages exchanged glances and guided their vehicles toward one of the sand towers.
A collective sigh of relief emanated from the Supreme mages. They had reached their stronghold, a place where they could finally relax, confident that the masked assailant could not cause further trouble.
Should any issues arise, their superiors, who were Magic Lords themselves, would intervene. The Supreme mages shared knowing looks.
The vehicles were guided into the garage.
Creak!
Once both cars were secured, the Supreme mages exited without a second glance at the masked man. All six proceeded into the sand tower to report to their superiors.
A smirk touched my lips as I observed this. I then stepped out of the vehicle.
[Ding! A Magic Lord is scanning the vicinity.]
The system's alert chimed in my mind. In the ensuing moment, I materialized within the Gregor Mansion, immediately making my way to the control room.
Arriving before the surveillance mirror, I focused my gaze, anticipating the mages' appearance.
Swoosh!
Moments later, several figures materialized outside, including the six Supreme Mages, accompanied by two Magic Lords.
One of the Magic Lords, a middle-aged man in his forties with a robust build, employed his mental power to scan the area.
This Magic Lord, clad in sand-colored attire and with his face concealed by cloth, possessed piercing blue eyes that meticulously searched for any sign of the masked intruder.
However, he found nothing. Meanwhile, the other Supreme Mages were inspecting the vehicles, but the masked man was nowhere to be found.
The second Magic Lord, who did not conceal his face, stood with his arms crossed, actively searching. Neither Magic Lord questioned the Supreme Mages directly.
Their actions confirmed their belief that the masked individual had successfully escaped. The fact that he had vanished right under their noses suggested he might indeed be a Magic Lord himself.
Consequently, the Supreme Mages could not be held accountable.
A few minutes passed,
The two Magic Lords exchanged a look.
The blue-eyed Magic Lord spoke, "There are no traces of the Magic Lord. It seems the individual utilized magic to vanish."
Gasp!
Upon hearing this, gasps of shock rippled through the Supreme Mages, some visibly trembling with fear.
Their fear stemmed from the realization that had they attempted to confront the masked man earlier, they would have surely perished. They had made the correct decision in not engaging him.
"What did he request?" the blue-eyed Magic Lord inquired.
"The masked individual asked us to transport him to the border. However, we made the decision to bring him here instead," replied one of the Supreme Mages.
This revelation prompted the Magic Lords to exchange another look. They were well aware of the perilous territory that lay beyond the border – the Nyx Land.
"The masked man likely intends to enter Nyx Land," the blue-eyed mage surmised.
A sneer played on the lips of the other Magic Lord. They understood the grim fate that awaited anyone who dared enter the forbidden territory.
Poisoning to death was the inevitable consequence. The dark mana within was akin to venom for anyone who was not a dark mage.
"That masked man is as good as dead," the Magic Lord declared with certainty.
"No, the masked individual displayed confidence. Should he venture there, he too might be a dark wizard," declared the wizard with blue eyes.
"Thus, pursuing this person is unnecessary," he concluded.
Upon hearing this, the others grasped the situation.
Meanwhile,
From the control room, I observed the entire proceeding. A smile touched my lips as I witnessed their decision to abandon the pursuit. The wizards engaged in their own discussions.
It seemed they had received a new directive from the Magic Lords. The six Supreme Wizards departed without their vehicles.
Concurrently, the two Magic Lords conducted another scan of the area before their exit.
It was evident they had dealings with numerous peculiar wizards, as the current circumstances did not seem to cause them any alarm.
Once they had completely vacated the premises, I held back, allowing some time to elapse.
An hour later,
I emerged and entered one of the waiting cars. In the subsequent moment, I activated the engine and drove away from the location.
