Magic Lord Clint retreated from the crystal community to avoid further reputational damage, allowing Elder Blake to station officials for security. The protagonist observed the events, plotting delayed revenge on Clint and the wizard families while maintaining operations. That evening, old man Martin unexpectedly visited the appraisal shop, praising its safety under Silver Tower influence but warning of Forbidden Wizards, especially the suspiciously silent Black Tower.

Crystal City

After listening to Old Man Martin’s advice, I vowed to monitor the Black Tower closely. Our talk went on from there.

I urged Old Man Martin to remain in the city, but he turned it down. He plans to return to Magic City early tomorrow morning.

His visit here was to check on me and offer aid now that the issue had been resolved.

He believes the Green Elemental Tower will strike back at me to salvage their damaged reputation.

Before departing, he issued another stern warning about the Black Tower.

I assured him I’d drop by his shop down the line.

With him gone, my mind turned to the Zero Puppet. I had dispatched it earlier to surveil Magic Lord Clint. I’m certain he hasn’t vacated his hotel.

Despite being set to depart the city, he lingers there following that humiliating incident.

Minutes later, my phone rang with a call from Manager Lara. Picking up, I caught the astonishment in her tone.

"Vincent, what have you done?"

"Is this real?" Lara asked.

From her words, I grasped her bewilderment. She hadn’t anticipated this turn at all.

"Yeah, it’s my plan. I teamed up with a local media house to trap Magic Lord Clint. He had caused a lot of damage here. I need evidence; only then can you guys do something about it," I explained to her.

My voice stayed composed.

Lara realized I was frustrated, despite her prior offer of help from the Forbidden Wizards, which I had firmly rejected.

"I know you are upset, but this evidence was enough. Everyone has seen the live footage. Some of the elders didn’t like the Green Elemental Tower. There is some support in the White Silver Faction."

"They will use this opportunity to demand answers from the Green Elemental Tower. I’m sure Lord Erwin and Charlotte are on this matter. They won’t let go of such a good opportunity," Lara said over the phone.

"I hope so," I replied.

Soon after, I hung up. Then I lingered until the flow of customers dwindled. Yet they trickled in sporadically right up to nightfall.

That evening, I shuttered the shop. Only Old Man Rock and the crew remained. The pair of monsters had claimed the basement as their lair; they stayed put underground.

Once the shop was secured for the night, the team retreated to their quarters.

I returned to my room and bided my time until midnight. At that moment, dark red mist seeped in through the window crack, reshaping into the Zero Puppet.

"Master," Zero Puppet greeted me.

I settled onto the sofa and faced the Zero Puppet. "What did you find?" I inquired.

"Master, Magic Lord Clint turned his hotel room upside down. The hotel manager asked him to leave the hotel, yet he is staying there."

"He is getting phone calls continuously, but he hasn’t answered even one of them. He consumed some magic material before sleeping," Zero Puppet reported.

A chilling smirk crossed my lips.

"He deserved it. But it was not enough. I’ll take care of him some other day. But I need to monitor the movements of the Black Tower," I murmured.

Next, I assigned the Zero Puppet a new mission. I instructed it to uncover any traces linked to the Black Tower.

The Black Tower stands as my primary foe. Their lack of action so far only heightens their menace.

The Zero Puppet consented. As long as mana stones fuel it, fatigue won’t touch the puppet. Then I handed over a pouch brimming with super-grade mana stones.

The Zero Puppet took them, dissolved into dark red smoke, and slipped away via the window slit.

Watching it go, my gaze sharpened. I hold unwavering faith in the Zero Puppet’s prowess.

Gathering my focus, I exited the room. I headed up to the terrace next. The informant hadn’t arrived yet. I wondered what tidings he’d deliver.

Moments later, a shadowy figure darted in erratic zigzags. It slipped into the mansion and ascended to the terrace. The wizard materialized in his familiar black robes.

"What did you bring today?" I asked.

Anticipation stirred within me. This source always delivered fresh intel. I hoped today would prove no different.

"Earlier, the wizard families were ready to move against you after the Green Elemental Tower, but today you have disrupted everyone’s plans.

"You exposed the Green Elemental Tower and brought their scheme to light."

"Now the focus is on them. No other forces will be coming out next. I spotted the spies of other forces leaving the city, so you can relax for the next period of time," he said.

His words didn’t catch me off guard. Still, I’d expected something more novel.

"That’s all?" I asked.

A fleeting spark lit the black-clad wizard’s eyes.

Previously, Wizard Vincent’s reactions had shown shock, signaling first-time intel. This time, pure letdown stared back.

"It’s everything for now," the wizard replied.

"Okay, you can go now," I said.

Swoosh!

In the next instant, the wizard morphed into a dark shadow and vanished from the location. After his departure from the Crystal Community, I remained behind. An intuition warned me that the night ahead would be anything but calm.

This sense didn't stem from any reports by the Zero Puppet or the black wizard; it arose purely from my instincts. My thoughts immediately turned to Magic Lord Clint.

"Don't tell me he's launching an attack tonight," I pondered.

He hasn't departed the hotel yet. He must be seething with rage. As a Supreme Wizard, I inflicted a deep wound on his pride.

I had shamed him publicly. For a Magic Lord, such humiliation cuts profoundly.

Steadying my mind, I resolved to stay put. A premonition told me the wait wouldn't stretch long. I might confront Magic Lord Clint this very day.

Time ticked onward. The city lay shrouded in silence. Aside from the central districts, everyone else slumbered peacefully.
