Gary Crest recognized Vincent Carey at the Sun Crest Hotel and, intimidated by the Silver Tower wizard's reputation and his own hidden spy cams, withdrew politely without escalation. He warned the staff to steer clear. The next day, Vincent headed to a training facility, rented a mana chamber, and began cultivating gravity mana for four hours. Meanwhile, Gary fretted in his family home, opting to conceal Vincent's presence to safeguard his secrets.

SunHaven City

Time inside the mana chamber flew by. As soon as the session concluded, the chamber door slid open by itself.

Stepping out, my eyes locked onto the crowd immediately. Wizards bustled about, coming and going.

Gathering my composure, I headed toward the exit. Numerous wizards had arrived to utilize the training facility.

Exiting the structure, I emerged into the open air. My attention shifted to the cab stand, where several drivers engaged in casual chatter.

A sharp glint sparked in my gaze. Clues about the forbidden zone were what I sought. Every other spot was safeguarded by magic formations.

Unprotected zones would suit me perfectly. With my mind made up, I approached the cluster of drivers.

Engaging in light conversation, I chatted with them. Upon learning I was an out-of-town visitor, they began describing the city's attractions.

Details on fascinating spots were my goal. Yet the drivers seemed hesitant; they weren't eager to spill hidden truths.

Producing several mid-grade mana stones, I revealed them. Four drivers were present. Their stares fixed on the stones, greed lighting up their eyes.

"One mid-grade mana stone per secret. Anything city-related works," I declared to the group.

Exchanging glances, the quartet eyed one another. Their breaths quickened. Such mid-grade mana stones were rare treasures; low-grade ones were all they'd known.

Securing mid-grade mana stones meant personal use or trading for low-grade equivalents. In any case, these gems held great value for them.

One burly fellow spoke up, "This isn't the spot for discussion. Guest, let's head elsewhere. A vast deserted playground lies in the city's outskirts."

"No wizard families dwell close by," he continued.

The rest echoed his words upon hearing them.

"Fine," I answered.

I climbed into one of the vehicles next, settling into the rear seat. It belonged to the sturdy middle-aged driver.

Swoosh!

The vehicle sped away from the area. Moments later, all four cabs took off. I observed the blurring landscapes outside.

People's willingness to divulge secrets surprised me. Perhaps I ought to have started this way earlier.

Shortly, the quartet of flying cabs arrived at the barren playground. This vacant lot spanned over 1,500 square feet.

A decently sized area it was. Besides their rides, other vehicles dotted the scene, though parked far off.

Halting to a stop, the drivers exited their cabs. I followed suit, stepping out. My sight settled on the open terrain.

Green tufts blanketed the soil. Scattered individuals conversed in spots.

Surprise flickered across my features. Never did I anticipate finding such a forsaken field in this isolated corner.

The drivers shared knowing looks then. Secrets were theirs to divulge now.

"Guest, one mid-grade stone per secret, as you promised," the burly man reminded.

Seeking confirmation, he pressed. The others swiveled to face me too.

Nodding, I stated, "Share city knowledge hidden from most folks."

The drivers consented without delay.

First came the burly man's turn to reveal.

"I can't guess your desired secrets, but here's mine: This barren lot holds mystery. Deliberately left unused, it belongs to a local wizard family."

"Construction attempts failed here repeatedly. Reasons escape me, but they abandoned efforts thereafter," he elaborated.

Before more words from the drivers, I activated the system probe.

[Ding! Secret hidden chamber detected.]

[Ding! No magic formations placed.]

In my mind rang the system's alert. My pulse quickened at the news. Right beneath my feet lay exactly what I'd hunted.

Though the burly middle-aged man kept talking, my thoughts fixated on the buried chamber below.

"Wizard families harbor countless odd sites, off-limits to commoners—even forsaken lots like this," the burly middle-aged man noted further.

Surprise arched my brows.

"Which family owns this land?" I inquired.

Silence fell from the burly middle-aged man.

"Crest Family holds this empty ground," he disclosed.

My eyes gleamed at the revelation. Recently, I'd encountered the Crest Family's young master. Uncertainty lingered: did they know of the subterranean chamber?

Should they know, why leave it sealed? Deeper motives surely existed. Regrettably, questioning Gary Crest was impossible.

Quickly, the remaining drivers contributed their tales.

An hour passed before I handed each ten mid-grade mana stones. Hotel drop-off was their offer, yet I declined, citing other plans.

Gratitude poured from the four as they departed. Alone now, my focus returned to the vacant plot.

Querying the system on chamber access yielded a straightforward answer.

Digging through the surface was required. Clearing the overlying dirt and rocks alone would reveal the entry.

Alternatively, a basic spell could flip the earth, unveiling the hidden chamber instantly.

Mulling options, Gary Crest emerged as my sole lead. Deceiving him promised difficulty. Cooperation seemed unlikely, given his knowledge of my true self.

"Sigh!"

Heavy, a sigh slipped from my mouth. Awareness of this plot demanded further intel on it.
