God-tier Farm Chapter 4

Previously on God-tier Farm...
Xia Ruofei's exploration of his grandfather's mysterious scroll takes an unexpected turn as he opens it, triggering a blinding golden light that transports him to a peculiar black-soiled landscape. Surrounded by an impenetrable green fog, he discovers a clear spring and an enigmatic plant with a striking three-petaled flower. Realizing he has stepped into the very painting he remembered from childhood, he grapples with his predicament before unexpectedly returning to his rental apartment. With the painting still in his hand, he uncovers the hidden truth of a mystical space concealed within its layers, igniting a newfound excitement.

Amidst his excitement, a lingering mystery continued to baffle Xia Ruofei.

The painting in question had been a family heirloom for many generations. In his childhood memories, he recalled his grandfather frequently unrolling it for admiration. Even Xia Ruofei himself had playfully opened the scroll when he was a young boy.

However, neither his grandfather nor his younger self had ever been pulled into the painting's internal space!

After pondering the matter for some time, he could only conclude that the blood from his injury must have triggered the change. Apart from that accidental contact, Xia Ruofei could find no other logical explanation.

Deciding not to obsess over the cause, he turned his full attention to investigating the mysterious scroll.

Following several hours of trial and error, Xia Ruofei successfully identified the fundamental properties of the painting space.

First, entering and exiting the realm was effortless; a simple thought was enough to transport him back and forth. Additionally, he could bring external objects inside, provided he was physically holding them during the transition.

Secondly, frequent trips in and out of the space seemed to drain his mental energy. Fortunately, the pond within the space possessed remarkable restorative properties. It was not only effective at refreshing his mind but also appeared to accelerate physical healing. After drinking some of the pond water, Xia Ruofei was stunned to see that the gash on his arm was already beginning to scab over.

This revelation filled Xia Ruofei with both shock and joy.

His current rental was extremely cramped. Since he hadn't been able to part with his grandfather’s belongings after selling their house, the room was cluttered to the ceiling.

With this magical dimension now at his disposal, Xia Ruofei spent several trips moving all the extra items into the space. Almost instantly, his living quarters felt open and airy.

He consumed a few more gulps of pond water to replenish his stamina. Afterward, he sat by the water's edge, staring at the translucent spiritual water while lost in thought.

As his heart rate settled, Xia Ruofei began strategizing how to utilize this supernatural spiritual space to generate the maximum amount of wealth.

Hu Zi’s mother had been struck with uremia. Although Xia Ruofei had handed over the 500,000 he gathered from his retirement fund and the house sale, the family was still buried in debt. That sum wouldn't even cover the costs of a kidney transplant. Consequently, Xia Ruofei was desperate to raise more funds while he still had the strength to do so.

He was painfully aware that his time was running out.

Those suffering from Lou Gehrig’s disease typically had a life expectancy of only two to three years.

Originally, his plan was to work himself to the bone to provide for Hu Zi’s mother before he lost his mobility. But the sudden acquisition of this mysterious spiritual map caused his mind to race with new possibilities.

One option Xia Ruofei dismissed immediately was selling the painting itself.

The spiritual map was simply too miraculous, far exceeding anything a normal person could conceive of.

He understood clearly that attempting to sell such an artifact would likely lead to catastrophe rather than a payout.

Xia Ruofei reached a firm decision.

Not only would he refrain from selling it, but he would also treat its existence as his greatest secret. He wouldn't even share the news with his closest confidants.

"If I can't sell the map, I have to use this treasure to earn money another way," Xia Ruofei mused. "Otherwise, it would be a tragic waste."

Yet, he lacked a concrete plan on how to monetize the spiritual map. His knowledge of the space was still superficial. All he knew was that the pond water could restore mental focus and heal wounds. However, the pond was barely a meter wide. He couldn't exactly bottle and sell the water on a large scale.

It felt like sitting on a mountain of gold without a way to spend a single coin. Xia Ruofei could only offer a bitter smile at the irony.

He knit his brows in concentration for a moment before shaking his head and whispering to himself.

"Forget it. I should go find something to eat first. Even a hungry soldier can't serve the Emperor!"

With that thought, he prepared to leave.

Just then, his eyes caught sight of a small flower pot, causing him to pause. Xia Ruofei recalled that the pot had been left behind by a previous tenant. He must have mindlessly tossed it into the space while he was clearing out the clutter earlier.

Inside the pot was a small, succulent-like plant shaped like a green lotus. Its leaves were thick and fleshy, marked with faint brown veins. It was quite attractive, but due to a lack of care, it appeared wilted and limp.

Xia Ruofei shook his head and reached for the pot, intending to take it out. He wasn't interested in gardening. Since it was abandoned, he figured he would just toss it later. He was struggling to survive himself; how could he possibly care for a plant?

However, he hesitated.

"Whatever," he muttered. "Since I brought you in here, it's fate. You can stay."

The soil in the pot was filled with tiny pebbles and looked bone-dry, devoid of any moisture.

Seeing this, Xia Ruofei carried the pot to the pond. He used his cupped hands to splash water onto the plant, continuing until the soil was thoroughly saturated. Only then did he stand up and exit the space.

He left the potted plant sitting there in the spiritual realm.

Back in his apartment, Xia Ruofei prepared a simple bowl of instant noodles for his midday meal.

Afterward, he tidied up his room. The effort left him breathless and drenched in sweat. Since the onset of Lou Gehrig’s disease, his physical endurance had plummeted. During his time in the military, such minor exertion wouldn't have even warmed him up, let alone exhausted him.

Grabbing a towel, he headed to the communal bathroom for a quick rinse. He then returned to his bed to rest.

Before he knew it, Xia Ruofei had drifted into a heavy slumber.

...

By the time Xia Ruofei woke up, darkness had fallen outside.

Checking his cheap knockoff phone, he saw it was already 6:30 PM. He had been out for nearly five hours.

Waking with a parched throat, he reached for the painting he had been holding. With a mental command, he vanished from the bed and reappeared within the spiritual map space. His first priority was getting a drink of that refreshing pond water.

He materialized and walked toward the water.

However, as he approached the pond, he stopped dead in his tracks. His eyes widened in pure disbelief as he rushed toward the flower pot.

Xia Ruofei could hardly recognize the plant inside.

The most startling change was its size; it had expanded until it was as large as a balloon.

Furthermore, the withered, dying appearance was gone. The leaves were now crystal clear, looking as though they had been meticulously carved from fine jade. It was a stunning, elegant sight—a living piece of art.

The color of the foliage had also transformed dramatically.

While the outer edges remained a vibrant green, the inner sections displayed a beautiful gradient. The center of the plant had turned a deep, royal purple.

At the tips of the leaves, transparent veins were visible. One could see the shimmering, succulent interior, which looked as clear as an ice lantern.

A plant that had been on the brink of death had undergone a total metamorphosis. It was no exaggeration to say it had been reborn.

Xia Ruofei had never seen such a magnificent specimen in his life. He stood there, mesmerized, completely forgetting that he had entered the space because he was thirsty.
