God-tier Farm Chapter 5

Previously on God-tier Farm...
Xia Ruofei discovered that the spiritual painting space could be entered and exited at will, and items could be brought inside, though repeated use caused mental exhaustion. The pond water within the space proved restorative, healing his wound. After moving his belongings into the space, Xia Ruofei considered how to use it to earn money for his friend's mother, knowing his own time was limited due to Lou Gehrig’s disease. He decided against selling the painting, realizing its immense power, and later watered a neglected potted plant with the pond's water, only to find it miraculously transformed upon his return.

After observing it for a considerable time, Xia Ruofei reluctantly averted his eyes from the translucent potted plant and turned his gaze toward the shimmering pond, his heart filled with anticipation.

There was no question that the reason this plant had transformed so drastically in such a brief window of time was most likely due to the pond water he had used earlier. Naturally, he couldn't discount the possibility that the spiritual map space itself possessed a profound influence on plant development.

Whatever the specific cause, Xia Ruofei had, at the very least, discovered a potential path to wealth.

Once he exited the spiritual map space, Xia Ruofei’s immediate priority was to scour the internet for details regarding that specific potted plant.

Even though his rented room was cramped and in disrepair, it was equipped with basic amenities. Since the building was primarily targeted toward city laborers or recent university graduates, every unit was provided with a network connection point.

The desktop computer he had purchased prior to his military service had finally found a purpose again.

After a wait of two or three minutes, the aging machine finally finished booting up.

Xia Ruofei launched the browser and navigated to a search engine to begin his investigation.

He spent a long time searching but struggled to find much substantial data. He did manage to identify the lotus-shaped specimen as "Jade Dew," a member of the Haworthia family. It was apparently a quite popular succulent variety.

Jade Dew came in many variations. Despite his efforts, Xia Ruofei couldn't pinpoint exactly which type was sitting in his space or determine its market value.

However, he was certain that before its evolution, the Jade Dew had been a very common breed. The previous tenant had neglected it to the point of being half-dead, and since it had been abandoned during their move, it clearly wasn't worth much back then.

As for the newly mutated version of the Jade Dew, Xia Ruofei could find no records of anything like it.

Consequently, he simply stepped back into the space to snap a few photos of the plant with his mobile phone. He then returned to the room and uploaded those images to a specialized online forum for succulent enthusiasts.

With the upload complete, Xia Ruofei put the matter out of his mind. He shut down the computer, took a shower, and headed to bed.

The following morning, Xia Ruofei finished washing up and, without even stopping for a meal, retrieved the spiritual map he kept hidden on his person and entered the spiritual map space.

The moment he arrived, he noticed the Jade Dew had expanded significantly in size. The foliage appeared even more delicate, transitioning from a soft green to a deep purple hue. The internal layers of the leaves were now more defined, and the "windows" at the tips were nearly transparent. The fleshy interior of the leaves looked so crystal clear that one felt a sudden urge to reach out and pinch them.

This space was truly miraculous! A common, withered Jade Dew had been transformed entirely after receiving a bit of water and spending a single night within this realm.

Xia Ruofei felt a surge of excitement.

Recalling his online post from the previous night, he departed the space and took his seat in front of the monitor.

As soon as Xia Ruofei logged into the forum, he was stunned by a barrage of notifications. Upon closer inspection, he found nearly 200 private messages waiting for him.

"I just registered this account last night for that one post. Why would so many people message me overnight?" Xia Ruofei muttered to himself as he began reading the messages.

"Brother, where did you find this supreme-grade Jade Dew?"

"Simply stunning! This has to be the finest Ice Lantern Jade Dew in existence!"

"Good heavens! Are you certain these photos aren't edited? How can a Jade Dew be this translucent?"

The feedback was exclusively focused on the images Xia Ruofei had shared the day before.

Xia Ruofei wasn't exactly shocked by the attention itself, as he had only made two identical posts asking, "Can someone identify this Jade Dew? Is it worth much?" He had shared the query on both a general succulent forum and a specific Jade Dew board.

Some of the messages were far more blunt.

"I want to buy this Supreme-grade Ice Lantern. You name the price! Contact me at 136XXXXXXXX…"

He could sense the sender's wealth even through the digital screen.

Initially, Xia Ruofei only thought the Jade Dew looked improved after its watering. Lacking a deep background in succulent Cultivation, he had no idea his posts had triggered a massive stir across both online communities.

While he didn't know what an "Ice Lantern Jade Dew" was, it clearly commanded a high price! He opened his thread with a sense of hopeful anticipation.

The public discussion was even more frenetic than his private inbox.

Overnight, his two threads had accumulated dozens of pages of comments, totaling at least one or two thousand replies. It felt as though the entire forum had been set ablaze.

Beyond the comments on his own threads, several new topics had been started specifically to debate the plant in his photos.

The consensus was split into two primary camps: the believers and the skeptics.

The first group was essentially worshiping Xia Ruofei. They were filled with praise for his ability to grow such a Supreme-grade Ice Lantern Jade Dew, with some even jokingly begging to become his disciples.

The second group remained highly doubtful.

Some argued that the plant wasn't an Ice Lantern at all, simply because they had never witnessed one with such a green-to-purple gradient. Many claimed the plant was a fake that had been artificially dyed.

Furthermore, because the Jade Dew was so clear it resembled polished jade, some users swore the images were the product of Photoshop.

One veteran collector with over a decade of experience in succulent Cultivation stated he had never seen a specimen this perfect, which he used as indirect proof that the photo was a digital fabrication.

His supporters countered these claims point by point. They scrutinized the photos from various angles, insisting it was a genuine Ice Lantern—specifically, a legendary and beautiful mutation that represented the pinnacle of its species.

Several succulent owners who worked in professional graphic design also chimed in. From a technical perspective, they argued the images were untouched raw files that showed no signs of editing.

In short, a fierce debate was raging across both forums because of his post.

As Xia Ruofei scrolled through the messages and replies, he couldn't hide his grin.

He didn't understand technical jargon like "side sprouts," "brocade," or "tree type," but he was now certain this Jade Dew was worth a fortune.

And money was exactly what Xia Ruofei needed most right now.

One particular private message caught his eye.

"Brother, I am extremely interested in your Ice Lantern. Are you open to selling it? If so, please give me the first chance to buy. I promise a price that will satisfy you. I run a business specializing in succulents right here in Three Mountain City, complete with my own greenhouse and workshop. If you have concerns, I can even meet you in person. My number is 159XXXXXXXX. I look forward to your call!"

The sender's tone felt remarkably sincere, and the fact that they were both in Three Mountain City meant a local transaction would be much simpler.

After considering it for a moment, Xia Ruofei grabbed his phone and dialed the number provided.

When the call connected, a youthful voice answered.

"Hello?"

Xia Ruofei got straight to the point.

"Are you 'Cold Stirred Succulent' from the Jade Dew forum?"

The voice on the other end immediately grew animated.

"That's me! Are you looking to buy? I have a huge selection—Myriad Elephant, Lifestone Flower, Jade Fan… I stock almost every popular variety, and the quality is top-tier."

It appeared "Cold Stirred Succulent" was a professional grower whose business was named "Immortal Succulent Store."

Taken aback by the unusual name, Xia Ruofei paused before responding.

"Actually… I'm 'Bloodwolf' from the forum. You sent me a message last night."

"Bloodwolf" was the handle Xia Ruofei had chosen during registration, a tribute to his call sign during his time with the Lone Wolf Assault Team.

He still held a deep attachment to that name.

There was a brief silence on the line. Then, Xia Ruofei heard a sharp intake of breath followed by an ecstatic shout.

"So you're Master Bloodwolf! Hello, hello! Wait—you're in Three Mountain City too? What a small world! This has to be fate!"

The man had clearly recognized the local area code from the caller ID. He was so thrilled he was beginning to ramble.

Xia Ruofei gave a faint smile and asked, "Are you interested in my Ice Lantern?"

"Obsessed is a better word! I've been in the succulent business for years, and I've never laid eyes on such a magnificent Supreme-grade Ice Lantern! The shape and clarity are flawless, and that mutation is just perfect…"

He then asked tentatively, his voice full of hope, "Master Bloodwolf… do you actually intend to sell it?"

It was painfully obvious how badly he wanted the plant.

Xia Ruofei found the situation somewhat amusing.

This "Cold Stirred Succulent" didn't act like a typical businessman. A savvy negotiator would never reveal their desperation so openly, as it gave the seller all the leverage to demand a higher price.

Despite their brief interaction, Xia Ruofei found himself liking this blunt and honest character.

"If the offer is fair, I'm willing to sell it to you," Xia Ruofei replied after a short pause.
