Global Awakening: Apocalypse Ender's Chronicle Chapter 1295: Learning the Truth

Reese and the Supersoldiers stared at Wallace for a moment.
None of them immediately responded.
The name Codebreakers Guild meant absolutely nothing to them.
During their time in this world, they had heard plenty about the major organizations and powerful clans. Mr. Wadsworth, Minerva, and the others had explained to them how the strongest factions controlled territories, gathered resources, and competed for influence.
Yet they had never once heard of the Codebreakers Guild.
Reese couldn’t help but think that this guild shouldn’t be here in the first place.
"Codebreakers Guild? Are you sure?"
Wallace nodded.
"Yeah."
Reese exchanged a glance with Wade and the other Supersoldiers.
They were still cautious, but the tension in their bodies had eased somewhat.
At the very least, this man was also a Demon Hunter. That alone made it easier for them to speak with him.
"I have never heard of it... What exactly is your guild?"
Wallace scratched his cheek as he expected the question at this point.
"It’s a little complicated."
"Complicated?"
"Yeah. I doubt you’ve heard of us because we’re not exactly from this world."
The Supersoldiers immediately became more alert as Reese frowned.
"Not from this world?"
He already had some idea, considering how he himself was from a world infested by Demons.
Wallace then noticed their expressions and quickly waved his hand.
"Don’t misunderstand. It’s just that I’m not from another apocalypse like you guys."
That answer only confused them further.
"What do you mean by that?" Wade asked.
Wallace looked around the demon lair before casually waving his hand.
"Well, you’ve probably already realized that this world is connected to other apocalypses, right?"
Reese nodded.
They had already experienced enough strange events to know that something was terribly wrong with the world.
This world had been consumed by the Zombie Apocalypse.
Yet after arriving here, they had encountered Vampires, Dragonoids, and even demons. Reese learned all of it from Raze, Fiona, and Minerva...
There was no telling what else had already crossed over.
"We’ve heard about it," Reese said carefully. "The leaders of our clan told us about the different apocalypses appearing across the world."
Wallace nodded.
"Then you probably won’t be too surprised by what I’m about to say... The Codebreakers Guild found a way to travel between different apocalypses."
Silence filled the chamber as Reese stared at him.
"Travel... between apocalypses?"
"That’s right."
Wallace’s expression remained completely casual, as if he were talking about traveling between cities.
"Our guild has access to a space-time machine left behind by an ancient civilization. It can create portals that connect different apocalyptic worlds."
The Supersoldiers were stunned.
Even Reese, who had already experienced more strange things than he could properly understand, couldn’t immediately process what Wallace had just said.
A machine that could travel between apocalypses?
That concept was completely beyond anything they had ever imagined.
"An ancient civilization created that?" Reese finally asked.
"Yep."
"And your guild controls it?"
"More or less."
Wallace shrugged.
"It’s not exactly as simple as pressing a button and choosing wherever you want to go. The machine has a lot of restrictions, and we can’t just travel anywhere whenever we want. But we’ve figured out how to use it well enough."
Wade stared at him.
"So your guild can enter other apocalypses whenever you want?"
"Not whenever we want."
Wallace shook his head.
"There are limits, and each apocalypse has different conditions. But yes, we can send people through the portals."
Reese fell silent.
He suddenly remembered the reason he had been recruited into this world in the first place.
His world had already been destroyed by demons. He had thought that was the end of everything.
Yet now he was standing in another world, fighting demons that had somehow appeared here as well.
The more he learned, the stranger everything became.
"What apocalypse were you originally from?" Reese asked.
"An A.I. Rebellion Apocalypse."
That answer surprised them again.
"A.I.?"
"Yeah. Machines went out of control and started wiping out humanity."
"It sounds like a troublesome place."
Reese looked at the weapons on Wallace’s body.
"So that’s where you became a Demon Hunter?"
"Kind of..."
He then pointed toward the portal behind them.
"The Guild use the space-time machine to enter different apocalypses, search for resources, investigate unusual locations, complete missions, and hunt powerful creatures."
Reese’s eyes widened slightly.
"So your guild deliberately enters other apocalypses to find resources..."
"You got it right..."
The Supersoldiers exchanged looks.
For them, an apocalypse was something that had destroyed their civilization.
It was something they had desperately tried to survive.
The thought that an organization could deliberately enter different apocalypses in search of resources was almost absurd.
Yet, considering everything they had seen since arriving in this world, it somehow made sense.
Reese slowly nodded.
"I see..."
Wallace then glanced at the portal.
"I suppose you guys are wondering why I’m still here. Unfortunately, the portal won’t reopen for another six hours."
"Six hours?"
"Yep. That’s the cooldown."
He sighed.
"I was supposed to finish my mission, collect the demon cores, and return before then. But since you’ve already killed everything..."
Wallace looked at the piles of demon corpses with a helpless expression.
"...I guess I’m stuck here for some time doing nothing...
Wade laughed.
"Then you might as well come with us."
"You’re okay with that?" Wallace asked.
"We’re both hunting demons, aren’t we?"
Wade extended a hand toward him.
Wallace looked at it for a moment before smiling and shaking his hand.
"Fair enough."
Reese watched the two of them before giving a small nod.
Although he still didn’t know what to make of the Codebreakers Guild, Wallace seemed trustworthy enough for now.
Besides, after learning that there were organizations capable of traveling between apocalypses, Reese suddenly had many more questions.
For sure, Fiona and the others would be willing to accept this man and perhaps trade with whatever information he had.
He wouldn’t even mind giving up all the Demon Cores for such information...
After all, it might even help them understand what had really happened to this world.
