Shane and his group entered the First Citadel, expecting hostility but instead receiving a strange welcome from a humanoid machine. As soon as the last member crossed the threshold, the entrance sealed shut, and a crushing pressure filled the corridor. They were then attacked by sleek, light-absorbing assassin machines emerging from the walls. The group fought back, with Max, Lyra, Sandara, and Sylas dispatching several attackers. However, as they cleared out the first wave of machines, Shane warned of incoming vampires, signaling a new, more dangerous threat.
