Global Awakening: Apocalypse Ender's Chronicle Chapter 1256: The Secrets of the Eden Island

The black stone floating above the formation released a powerful wave of energy that spread throughout the entire area.

Tundra immediately felt the change beneath his feet, and his expression shifted as he realized that something was happening to the island itself.

The ground began to tremble.

At first, it was only a slight vibration, barely noticeable beneath their feet. However, within moments, the movement became increasingly violent, and the entire area began shaking as if a massive earthquake had suddenly struck the island.

"What is happening?"

Natalie immediately looked around. He had seen some Giant Zombies before, and they would create such a ruckus before appearing. She couldn’t help but guess that it was related to a huge enemy!

"This looks bad."

Travis also reacted quickly, but unlike the others, he wasn’t looking at the formation anymore. His gaze had already shifted toward the surrounding landscape, and his expression gradually became more serious.

"Wait..."

Tundra followed his gaze.

At first, he didn’t understand what Travis had noticed. Then, he suddenly realized that the horizon was moving.

No.

It wasn’t the horizon... The entire island was moving!

The realization stunned Tundra and the others.

"The island..."

He barely managed to say those words before the ground suddenly rose.

BOOOOOOM!

A tremendous rumbling sound spread across Eden Island as the earth itself began to break apart. The movement was so powerful that countless cracks immediately spread across the ground, tearing through the battlefield and extending toward the surrounding forests and mountains.

The defenders who had remained on the island were thrown into confusion.

"What is happening?!"

"Is this another attack?"

"Get ready!"

"Wait! Look at the ground!"

The soldiers immediately became alert, but there was no enemy to fight. The disturbance wasn’t coming from the Abyss, nor was it caused by another Demon attack. Something much larger was happening beneath their feet.

The entire island was rising.

The ground continued to shake violently as enormous pieces of rock broke away from the edges of Eden Island. Entire sections of soil were pulled upward while the roots of ancient trees were torn from the earth, leaving behind massive gaps in the landscape.

For a brief moment, Tundra could only stare.

Then his eyes widened.

"This isn’t just the formation..."

He finally understood.

The formation hadn’t simply activated some kind of teleportation mechanism.

It had activated something beneath Eden Island.

Whatever had been hidden underneath the island had been waiting for the correct conditions to be fulfilled, and the Abyssal Rift Fragment, the resonance formation, and the strange stone connected to Project Mist had somehow provided the final requirements.

The ground beneath them continued rising.

The defenders could only watch as the enormous landmass slowly separated from the world below.

There was literally nothing they could do. They considered escaping through the portal connected to other shelters, but seeing that there was no order to retreat, they decided to hold on and wait for instructions.

At this point, the five Trident Mechs who were all standing by were already prepared to carry a few survivors with them and escape through the sea... However, they soon realized that the shelter itself was safe!

It was difficult to comprehend the scale of what they were witnessing.

Eden Island was huge.

It had been large enough to contain the Mist Shelter, forests, mountains, rivers, and countless structures. Yet, despite its enormous size, the island was now slowly lifting itself away from the ground as if the entire landmass had suddenly become weightless.

Tundra instinctively looked toward the edges.

The sight immediately left him speechless.

A massive section of the island had completely separated from the surrounding terrain.

The land below was still there, but it had been reduced to scattered rocks, broken earth, and a few patches of vegetation that had somehow survived the violent separation. Everything else had been lifted into the sky.

Eden Island was no longer an island!

It was becoming a floating island.

"No way..."

Natalie stared at the enormous landmass above them, and Travis was equally stunned.

Even with his knowledge of various technologies and supernatural powers, he had never imagined that something like this could exist.

They had seen Shane’s Floating Fortress, but it was a huge machine. But this one was larger, and it didn’t seem to be made of machines!

"This was beneath the island the entire time?"

Tundra didn’t answer.

He was too busy staring.

The floating landmass continued to rise until it was several dozen meters above the ground.

At this point, Cloud, who was currently controlling one of the Warden Units, sent out several drones to scout the surroundings.

These small units weren’t really something new. They were products created through Anima Store’s resources.

Nonetheless, as it ascended, the enormous underside of the island was gradually revealed... and of course, it was noticed by the drones that Cloud had sent out.

It was not simply natural earth...

There were massive structures embedded deep within it.

This discovery was immediately reported to everyone!

Tundra’s eyes narrowed.

At first, he thought they were pieces of rock, but as the island continued rising, more and more of the strange structures became visible.

Metal...

Enormous metal structures had been buried deep beneath Eden Island.

Some of them were circular, while others were shaped like enormous pillars that extended through the earth.

There were also countless strange mechanisms embedded within the rock, all of them connected by glowing lines of energy.

"This..."

Natalie’s expression changed.

She immediately recognized something.

"That’s not Project Mist."

"Of course... I’ve seen the facilities connected to Project Mist. Their technology is advanced and mystical compared to what the governments had before the Apocalypse, but this is completely different."

She looked toward the massive structures beneath the floating island.

"The world governments didn’t have anything like this."

That statement immediately caught Tundra’s attention.

He had already suspected as much.

The world governments had been desperate to survive the Zombie Apocalypse. Project Mist had been their attempt to save humanity, but the methods they had relied upon were still based heavily on the technologies available to them at the time.

They used serums, genetic modifications, super soldiers, or experimental weapons.

Those things could certainly create powerful survivors, but none of them could explain what was happening now.

The governments might have been capable of developing a powerful army, but they could not make an entire island float.

If they could, they would’ve saved humanity already.

They couldn’t hide a massive structure beneath an island without leaving behind evidence of its existence.

And they certainly couldn’t create a system capable of connecting Abyssal energy with Draconic Energy.

Tundra’s expression became serious.

"This island wasn’t created by them. But they might have discovered this place, but they didn’t know how to make it work or something..."

His words immediately caused Natalie and Travis to fall silent.

"Then what exactly is this place?" Travis asked quietly.

But before they could answer, the floating island suddenly stopped rising.

The enormous landmass remained suspended high above the ground, casting a massive shadow over what remained of the original island.

For several seconds, nobody spoke.

Then Tundra noticed something.

"Look."

He pointed toward the edge of the floating island.

Natalie and Travis immediately followed his gaze.

At first, they couldn’t see anything unusual. The enormous island had already risen far above the ground, and the exposed land below was becoming smaller with every passing moment. However, as they moved closer to the edge and looked downward, they finally noticed something that had been hidden beneath the island.

A massive opening had appeared along the side of the floating island.

It was almost impossible to notice from a distance because it had been concealed beneath countless layers of rock and soil. Now that the island had separated from the ground and risen into the sky, however, a portion of the structure buried deep within it had been exposed.

It was a gigantic facility built directly into the core of the island.

An enormous metal door stood at the entrance, covered in strange symbols that none of them had seen before.

Tundra’s eyes narrowed.

"That’s the facility."

Natalie immediately understood what he meant.

The three of them had spent enough time investigating Eden Island to recognize that the strange underground structures they had discovered before were not independent facilities. They had been connected to something much larger, and now, for the first time, the central structure had finally been exposed.

The core of Eden Island.

Whatever the world governments had discovered here, this was probably where it had all begun.

Tundra looked toward the massive entrance embedded within the floating island.

He could already imagine what might be hidden inside.

More advanced technology or mysterious formations.

Perhaps even information about Project Mist...

But there was another possibility that was far more interesting... the truth about Eden Island itself.

Tundra’s eyes slowly brightened.

"Let’s go."

Natalie glanced at him.

"Inside?"

"Of course. We have to inform Shane first..."

Tundra replied and looked toward the enormous facility buried within the floating island.

However, it was at this point that another System Notification caught their attention.

Ding!
