Global Awakening: Apocalypse Ender's Chronicle Chapter 1245: The Attacks
Previously on Global Awakening: Apocalypse Ender's Chronicle...
Natalie couldn’t help but worry as she received the news through her friends.
After feeling concerned, she quickly checked the World Chat.
[ Kaelen (Sector 7): Did everyone get the notification? Few more hours until the first wave... demons are coming. ]
[ Mira (Sector 19): Yeah... I saw it. My shelter’s priests are already panicking. They say that a demon’s corruption spreads faster than vampiric infection. ]
[ Rina (Sector 14): Corruption? What does that even mean? Like poison? ]
[ Selene (Sector 13): Worse. It infects wounds and human minds. Survivors turn into flesh that’s acting on instinct or even attacking their own. We saw it happen because one Survivor had Demonic Talent before. ]
[ Dax (Sector 6): I heard news about the Ember Order just now... damn. There’s even a system alert. It must be real. Their whole shelter got burned down. I guess Fire didn’t work at all. ]
[ Lyra (Sector 10): That’s terrifying. They specialized in flamethrowers. If demons resist fire, what chance do smaller shelters have? ]
[ Toren (Sector 20): Well... If Ember Order fell, anyone relying on one trick is doomed. Demons aren’t zombies or vampires. They’re smart and strong... ]
[ Joren (Sector 3): Smart? How smart? ]
[ Selene (Sector 13): They’re probably coordinated. They most likely knew to attack turrets, cut fuel lines, and attack weak points. Ember Order didn’t stand a chance. ]
[ Kaelen (Sector 7): So they’re basically soldiers. Not mindless beasts... Like the Dragon Army with Elf Commander. ]
[ Mira (Sector 19): Soldiers with corruption. That’s worse than vampires. ]
[ Rina (Sector 14): Anyone know what types are coming first? ]
[ Dax (Sector 6): Did you not read? Imps, Avarice Demons, Abyssal Beasts. Knights and Warlocks later. Generals at the end. ]
[ Lyra (Sector 10): Imps sound weak. Maybe manageable? ]
[ Toren (Sector 20): Don’t underestimate them. I’ve seen them already. They leap walls and tear defenders apart. Ember Order lost half their fighters to Imps alone. How did they get torn apart so quickly? There are no Demons on our side yet? Did they get delayed? ]
[ Joren (Sector 3): Damn... and we thought zombies were bad. Toren... I think there’s no Rift close to your shelter. That’s why it’s delayed on your side ]
[ Selene (Sector 13): Anyone else notice the rewards? Abyssal Crystals, Obsidian Banners, Eternal Abyss Core... I wonder what those items can do. ]
[ Kaelen (Sector 7): Eternal Abyss Core... that’s insane. A permanent Demon‑Resistant Fortress. Shane’s clan will probably get a ton of it]
[ Rina (Sector 14): Of course. Shane always gets the top rewards. His shelters are too resourceful. ]
[ Dax (Sector 6): Not unfair. He prepares better than anyone. Ember Order relied only on their Fuel, but Shane diversified. ]
[ Lyra (Sector 10): Still feels like the System favors the strong. Smaller shelters can’t compete. ]
[ Toren (Sector 20): Survival of the fittest. That’s the System’s law. ]
[ Mira (Sector 19): Enough philosophy. Anyone trading anti‑corruption items? Holy water, blessed charms, anything? ]
[ Rina (Sector 14): I’ve got two blessed daggers. Looking for Spirit Stones. ]
[ Joren (Sector 3): DM me. I’ve got Spirit Stones. ]
[ Selene (Sector 13): Careful. Blessed items are rare. Don’t waste them on weak fighters. ]
[ Kaelen (Sector 7): Speaking of fighters... anyone else recruiting? My shelter lost 40% during the Red Night. We need reinforcements. ]
[ Mira (Sector 19): That Red Night Event? Have it been months? You still haven’t recovered? Reinforcements? Everyone’s hoarding soldiers. No one wants to risk losing them to corruption. ]
[ Dax (Sector 6): Better corrupted than dead. At least corrupted soldiers fight for a while. ]
[ Lyra (Sector 10): That’s wicked. ]
[ Toren (Sector 20): Wicked, but true. ]
[ Rina (Sector 14): Anyone know if priests can cure corruption? ]
[ Selene (Sector 13): They can purge it, but only if they’re close. If corruption spreads too far, it’s irreversible. ]
[ Joren (Sector 3): So priests are basically frontline medics now. ]
[ Mira (Sector 19): Exactly. Without priests, shelters will get into trouble against them. ]
[ Kaelen (Sector 7): My shelter only has two priests. We’re screwed. ]
[ Dax (Sector 6): Then migrate. Bigger shelters are accepting survivors. Eclipse Domain is recruiting. ]
[ Lyra (Sector 10): Eclipse Domain? They’re picky. Only strong survivors get in. ]
[ Rina (Sector 14): Anyone else hear rumors about Demon Generals? ]
[ Selene (Sector 13): Yeah. Supposedly they command armies like real generals. If one appears, entire shelters could fall. ]
[ Joren (Sector 3): Ember Order fell without even facing a General. Imagine when one shows up. ]
[ Mira (Sector 19): That’s why Shane’s shelters had special Gates. Reinforcements can arrive instantly. ]
[ Kaelen (Sector 7): Gates... It’s not the only way. Did you forget about a certain shelter that gets to teleport if in Danger? ]
[ Rina (Sector 14): Ahem... Anyone else notice the demon’s laugh? They said it’s a mind attack already. Be careful ]
[ Selene (Sector 13): It’s not just a mind attack. They know fear works. ]
[ Joren (Sector 3): Fear already spreading. ]
[ Mira (Sector 19): Then get stronger. Increase their morale. Remind them of the system rewards. Abyssal Survivor title, Abyssal Crystals... hope keeps people fighting. ]
[ Kaelen (Sector 7): Hope won’t stop Demon Claws. ]
[ Dax (Sector 6): But it keeps soldiers from running. ]
[ Lyra (Sector 10): Anyone else hear about hidden quests? ]
[ Toren (Sector 20): Yeah. Supposedly tied to the Abyss. Relics, crafting materials. No one knows how to trigger them. ]
[ Rina (Sector 14): Probably requires killing unique demons. ]
[ Selene (Sector 13): Or exploring corrupted zones. Dangerous, but worth it. ]
[ Joren (Sector 3): Dangerous is an understatement. ]
[ Mira (Sector 19): Still... if we don’t adapt, we’ll end up like Ember Order. ]

In the meantime, Ivory Gear Shelter was a neutral stronghold, known more for its mechanical ingenuity than for military might.
It was one of Shane’s allied shelters.
Its walls were reinforced with special gears and dark prism alloy, its defenses was mostly powered by steam engines and rotating turrets.
Yet when the Abyssal Invasion began, the shelter’s leaders knew their machines alone would not be enough.
That was when Asad Seife, the Necromancer, arrived.
"This is quite troubling..." Asad muttered as he looked at the situation.
He had been traveling across the continent, gathering Gate Stones and strengthening his undead army. When word reached him that demons were pouring through dimensional scars, he diverted his path to Ivory Gear Shelter.
The leaders hesitated at first... Despite being from an allied Clan, necromancy was feared, even in desperate times... but when the first wave of demons appeared on the horizon, they welcomed him as their last hope.
"Do not waste too much of your ammunition. This wave of demons will continue for a few days. Be smart."
Asad stood at the gates with his skeletal warriors forming ranks behind him.
Bone knights clattered into position, shields raised.
Spectral archers lined the walls with their bows...
From the ground, skeletal scorpions and hounds crawled forth, summoned from the Underworld Realm.
The survivors of Ivory Gear Shelter watched in awe.
"Necromancer..."
"I knew it... They can be really useful."
"He’s different from the Necromancers in the Wild Shelters."
Machines whirred beside undead soldiers... It was a strange alliance of steel and bone.
"Hold the line," Asad commanded.
The ground trembled as the first wave arrived.
Imps screeched as they started leaping forward with claws extended.
Avarice Demons also walked behind them...
Bam! Bam! Bam!
The shelter’s turrets fired, with gears grinding as bolts of steel shot into the horde!
Boom!
However, the demons pressed on; their resistance to fire and brute force could be seen...
Survivors panicked a little since even the Dragon Army would have a hard time moving forward with their assault. But Asad raised his hand.
"Rise."
The battlefield shifted.
Skeletal warriors charged forward, intercepting the Imps.
In just a matter of seconds, shields clashed, bones cracked, but the undead did not stop. Spectral archers loosed volleys of ghostly arrows, piercing through demonic flesh where steel bolts failed.
Ssak... Ssak... Ssak...
The Imps shrieked as their bodies dissolved under necrotic energy from the arrows!
Seeing this, Avarice Demons roared and started smashing skeletons apart, but every fallen warrior was replaced by another summoned from the abyss.
"You need more than that before you can destroy these bones." Asad said with a laugh.
Still, the number of enemies could be overwhelming...
One Avarice Demon broke through, charging toward the gates.
Survivors screamed, but Asad stepped forward.
He raised his staff, chanting a spell...
From the ground, a massive skeletal scorpion erupted, its pincers snapping shut around the demon.
Thud!
The beast struggled as the corruption began seeping into the scorpion’s bones, but Asad reinforced it with his Spirit...
"Bind it," he ordered.
Chains of dark energy wrapped around the demon, dragging it to the ground.
After that, Spectral archers rained arrows upon it until it collapsed, dissolving into ash.
The survivors cheered! Suddenly, their fear was replaced with hope.
For hours, the battle raged.
Demons pressed from all sides, but Asad’s undead army absorbed the assault.
Every fallen skeleton rose again, reforged by necromantic energy.
As a matter of fact, the skeletons seemed to be getting stronger!
"W-wait... He’s using the Demon Bones he killed as new skeletons!"
"Terrifying!"
"So this is how Necromancers fight..."
"Don’t stand idle! Help him!"
The shelter’s machines provided cover fire, while priests worked tirelessly to purge corruption from wounded survivors.
Asad just remained calm as his bone knights held the front, spectral archers thinned the ranks, and skeletal beasts struck at those weakened Demons...
By dawn, the first wave had broken. The ground outside Ivory Gear Shelter was littered with demonic corpses, but they all survived...
However, they noticed something was off with Asad!
