The notifications echoed across every shelter, their words heavy with dread. Survivors froze as the chime rang in their ears, the text burning into their vision.

Natalie’s heart pounded as she read the message.

"So it’s true... the demons are finally coming."

She clenched her fists as she instinctively checked the holy items glowing faintly at her side.

Around her, soldiers also started getting nervous. As a matter of fact, some of them even began muttering prayers.

Travis’ clone was also beside her and nodded. At this time, his gaze was fixed on the space outside the shelter...

"Three hours. That’s all the time we have. Shane was right to prepare us. Without these new weapons, we’re going to get in trouble."

In Blue Haven Shelter, crowds gathered in the streets, staring at the system notifications.

Merchants closed their stalls, parents pulled children indoors, and soldiers rushed to armories.

The statues of Shane seemed to radiate reassurance, but fear still lingered in every corner.

Among the elves stationed, unease spread quickly as soon as they heard the news.

"Demons..."

"We have to be careful of their corruption."

"This will be tough."

Even the Elves themselves were worried.

Some muttered about the corruption demons carried, others questioned whether their Queen’s blessings would be enough. Yet even they could not deny the importance of Shane’s preparations to them, like the distribution of the Arcflingers and Boomblades.

As for the many Super Soldiers, they weren’t too worried.

"Demons... Aura should still work against them."

"We have enough weapons as well. We can do this."

They had faced zombies, vampires, and dragons... but demons were something else entirely. Their training told them to expect cunning enemies, not mindless hordes.

Still, with the Holy Items and weaker Zombies, they could certainly fight against these Demons!

Soon, Natalie quickly rallied her priests and bishops who were already within the Mist Shelter...

"You heard the notification. Corruption will spread. Your role is vital. Purge it wherever you find it. Keep the soldiers clean, or they’ll fall before the demons even strike.

Harper, still overseeing the prototypes, muttered under his breath. "Arcflingers against Imps... Boomblades against Knights... yes, this will work. It has to."

Across the shelters all over the world, survivors reacted in different ways.

Some panicked, others prepared, but all understood the gravity of the situation.

This was not another zombie wave. This was the Abyss itself opening.

Natalie stood once more on the walls of the Mist Shelter. Her eyes fixed on the dimensional scar at the island’s center.

Whom~

Suddenly, the ground shook! It was as if something massive was stirred beneath.

She whispered to herself, "The Abyssal Invasion... it begins now."

The chime echoed again in her ears.

Ding!

And with it, the countdown to the first demonic wave had begun.

***

The Ember Order Clan, led by Ves, had built its shelter into a fortress of fire.

Thanks to their supply of fuel, massive flamethrower turrets lined the walls... With that, their nozzles would constantly drip with fuel.

The clan specialized in flame‑based weaponry, a tactic that had proven devastating against zombies, vampires, and even dragon raiders.

"This is madness..."

"Demons?"

"This isn’t fair... How are we supposed to defeat these creatures?"

"Let’s treat it similarly with the Vampires."

"Right! Burn them!"

Zombies burned to ash in seconds.

Vampires, with their weakness to fire, shrieked and crumbled under the infernos.

Even dragon scales, though resistant, eventually cracked under prolonged bombardment.

Survivors of Ember Order had grown confident, believing their flames were the ultimate defense.

But confidence turned to horror when the Abyssal Invasion began.

"Roooarr!"

Numerous demons arrived at the start of the event!

The dimensional scar near their shelter pulsed violently, and soon the first wave of demons emerged!

Imps crawled out as they seemed to really like looking around the island. They were then followed by hulking Avarice Demons with long claws. The Ember Order unleashed their flamethrowers immediately!

Whoosh~

Walls of fire were released, engulfing the battlefield.

The air shimmered with heat, and survivors cheered as the flames consumed the demons. But then... the cheering stopped.

The Imps kept moving. Their charred skin did not blister, their movements did not slow.

The Avarice Demons walked through the infernos as if they were nothing more than warm air.

"Impossible..." Ves muttered, his steel eyes widening. "They’re... resistant."

"Fire... Right... They might’ve come from hell!"

"N-no way."

The demons roared as they felt the fire, but their laughter was soon filled with mockery, but soon, they charged the walls.

"Just continue firing!"

"Right! There must be a limit to it!"

"Let’s burn everything!"

"Any demons that get closer... We will rain them with bullets!"

"Kill the Demons!"

Flamethrowers were used, hoping that it would overwhelm the Demons like how the others had been killed.

Still, it was too slow!

"This thing is too tough!"

"If not for the barrier, we’re all dead by now."

At this point, many Survivors panicked as they hurried to their underground shelter...

They could tell that this would be a difficult battle...

Still, some others didn’t forget to help as they fired desperately with sidearms.

But the demons were not stopping!

Imps leapt onto the walls, tearing into defenders with claws and teeth. Avarice Demons smashed through barricades, their strength overwhelming. The fire‑based weapons that had once been their pride now became useless ornaments.

"Switch to melee! Use blades!" Ves shouted, drawing his own weapon. But Ember Order had invested heavily in flame technology. Their swords were few, their bullets limited.

The demons exploited every weakness. They coordinated, flanking the turrets, disabling fuel lines, and cutting down defenders. Survivors screamed as corruption spread — wounds infected instantly, turning fighters into husks that attacked their own comrades.

Within an hour, the outer walls were breached.

Ves fought fiercely, his flamethrower abandoned for a steel blade. He cut down Imps, his clan rallying behind him. But for every demon slain, three more emerged from the scar.

"Hold the line!" he roared, his voice echoing across the chaos.

But the line was already broken. Survivors fled deeper into the shelter, only to be hunted down. The flamethrower corridors, once their strongest defense, became traps — demons stormed through unharmed, slaughtering anyone who tried to resist.

Blood soaked the floors, screams filled the air, and the Ember Order’s proud fortress became a tomb.

By the second hour, half the shelter was gone. The Trident Mechas deployed, their pilots desperate to stem the tide. But even their flamethrower cannons failed. Demon Knights appeared, armored and disciplined, cutting down the mechas with brutal efficiency.

Ves fought until his blade broke, his body covered in wounds. He looked around at the burning ruins of his shelter, the corpses of his clan, and the demons advancing.

"This... is the end..." he whispered.

The last defenders fell, their screams echoing into silence. The Ember Order Shelter, once a blazing fortress, was reduced to ashes.

News of the destruction spread quickly through the system notifications. Survivors across the world trembled as they read the update:

[ Alert: Ember Order Clan has fallen. Demonic forces have breached and annihilated the defenses. Survivors are confirmed dead. ]

Natalie, Travis, and others who had prepared with Shane’s foresight understood the lesson immediately. Fire alone could not stop the Abyss. The demons were not mindless hordes like Zombies... they were intelligent and merciless.

The Ember Order Clan’s downfall became a grim warning to everyone... They must adapt to how this world was changing or perish from the unknown force that was driving this world.
