Spencer received a shipment of Abyssal Iron ingots and began forging them into powerful weapons. He also received a mysterious Black Crystal of Life from Shane, which proved resistant to all his attempts at analysis.

Natalie stood at the edge of the Mist Shelter’s walls...

"It’s still so refreshing being here..." She muttered.

Her gaze then swept across the facility hidden deep within Eden Island.

Apparently, the shelter occupied a massive portion of the underground complex. Its structures ensured that the research tied to Project Mist would never be lost.

Nonetheless, the most critical part of their mission was guarding the gateway they had discovered.

Indeed, within this island, they discovered a dimensional scar, a place where they suspected the Demons would use to enter this world.

Even the records they discovered from the scholars of the World Government believed that it was one of the routes the Demon Army could use to pour into their realm.

If that happened, Eden Island would be the first battlefield...

Well, even if there were already demons before, those Imps were probably just scouts and weren’t the real threat yet.

"I should probably leave soon..."

Natalie, Clan Leader of the New Haven Clan, had chosen to remain here because the shelter felt a bit too defenseless before.

Her presence was both symbolic and practical as a powerful Survivor.

Alongside her was one of the clones of Travis, leader of the Drakeheart Vanguard, who had also stationed himself here.

Together, they oversaw a garrison that included Shane’s Super Soldiers, elite fighters, and even a contingent of elves who had stayed here.

Of course, the defenses were still formidable since Warden Units patrolled tirelessly, automated turrets lined the walls, and massive Trident Mechas were ready to sortie in hangars.

Yet Natalie knew that if demons truly poured out of the gateway, even this might not be enough.

Two weeks later, the impossible became reality.

A gate was established, linking Eden Island directly to Blue Haven Shelter, the bustling port town Shane had built into a huge hub!

"Incredible... Shane was too fast on this."

Natalie and Travis stood together as the portal stabilized... They watched its surface rippling like water and soon, supplies began to flow through immediately.

"This..."

Crates of food, weapons, and medical gear were carried by soldiers who no longer needed ships to cross the dangerous seas.

It was an incredible sight!

Natalie’s eyes were filled with admiration.

"Shane... he never ceases to amaze me. To think he managed to set up a stable gate in just two weeks."

Travis chuckled, his clone’s voice carried the same confidence as the original. "It’s no wonder we can’t surpass his clan in the rankings. He’s simply too resourceful. Every time we think we’ve caught up, he pulls off something like this."

Natalie nodded.

"With this gate, our armies can reinforce each other instantly. If demons attack here, we can call for aid from the mainland. And if Blue Haven is threatened, we can send our forces through to defend it."

The two leaders exchanged a look.

They both knew what this meant... Shane’s network of shelters was becoming a unified war machine.

Still, despite the gate’s arrival, Natalie remained cautious.

She knew that the Mist Shelter’s defenses that includes, Warden Units, elves, Super Soldiers, turrets, and mechas, might still be defeated against a full demonic invasion.

As someone with items that could manifest Holy Arts and defeat Vampires and Demons alike, she had to stay here for some time.

Then, a few more days later, reinforcements arrived from one of Shane’s mainland shelters...

Among them was Harper, a craftsman and engineer who carried with him two precious blueprints.

He laid them out on the table in the command hall, allowing them to realize what he was about to do.. Natalie leaned closer, reading the details carefully.

[ Blueprint - Arcflinger Repeater (Tier II) ]

[ Weapon Type: Rapid-Energy Crossbow

Description: A shoulder-mounted, repeating crossbow enhanced with an elemental capacitor. Fires conductive bolts that can pass between targets if Spirit-infused. Originally developed by hybrid tinker clans in the Wildsteel Zone.

Ammo Type: Charged Spirit Bolts (modular tips optional)

Fire Rate: Semi-Auto or Triple Burst

Trait: Bolts can store elemental effects like fire, ice, or shock

Crafting Tier: Advanced

Notes: Requires a stable Spirit Stone ]

This Arcflinger was already really good, but there was more!

[ Blueprint - Boomblade Lance (Tier II) ]

[ Weapon Type: Thrusting/Detonation Hybrid Weapon

Description: A reinforced metal lance with a detachable tip containing a compressed combustion charge.

Designed to penetrate armor, then detonate after embedding. Used in last-stand charges or ambushes.

Damage Type: Piercing + Explosive

Trait: Tip auto-ignites after 0.7 seconds post-impact unless deactivated.

Reload: Tip can be swapped manually; comes with 3 replaceable charges.

Crafting Tier: Intermediate ]

Natalie’s eyes widened. "These... these could be really useful."

Harper smiled faintly. "With these designs, we can reinforce the walls and arm our soldiers with weapons capable of piercing even demonic armor. There’s a Demon Hunter recruited recently, and we learned more about them. The Arcflinger will allow ranged units to chain attacks across multiple targets, while the Boomblade Lance will give our vanguard the ability to break through heavy defenses."

Travis’ clone nodded after seeing this and tapped the Arcflinger blueprint. "Semi-auto or triple burst... with elemental effects stored in the bolts. That means we can adapt to any enemy type. Fire against undead, ice against vampires, shock against demons. Brilliant."

Natalie nodded.

"And the Boomblade... perfect for our cavalry. A lance that pierces and then detonates. Even the toughest demon will think twice before charging our lines."

Within days, Harper and the engineers began constructing prototypes.

Spirit Stones were allocated to power the Arcflingers, while combustion charges were carefully crafted for the Boomblades.

Natalie was even more excited to see this in action. Because of that, she volunteered and oversaw the deployment personally.

She watched as soldiers tested the Arcflinger Repeater on the training grounds, bolts passing between multiple targets with elemental energy.

"It’s working..." Natalie muttere.

The effect was devastating since a single shot could disable a cluster of enemies.

Meanwhile, the Boomblade Lance was tested against strengthened armor plates.

Soon, she watched as the tip pierced cleanly, embedding itself before detonating with a thunderous blast.

Boom!

The shockwave rattled the walls, leaving the test plate shattered.

Natalie’s lips curved into a smile. "Perfect. With these weapons, our defenses are no longer just strong against one type of enemy... they’ll work against every race..."

Travis’ clone agreed with a sigh.

"Shane’s foresight is unmatched. He gave us the tools we need before the demons even arrive. I guess we can safely say that this Mist Shelter is already safe."

Just like that, the Mist Shelter’s walls were soon reinforced with Arcflinger turrets, their repeating crossbows mounted along battlements.

Soldiers were then trained to wield Boomblade Lances so they could have coordinated charges and be ready to meet any breach with explosive retaliation.

Natalie stood on the walls one evening, watching the glow of the gate as supplies continued to flow.

Still, seeing how they seemed to have endless supplies, she felt a sense of reassurance.

"Shane has given us everything we need," she whispered. "Now it’s up to us to hold the line."

With this in mind, Natalie messaged her Clan Members to hurry up and send more priests to her location.

At this time, the Archbishop back in their main shelter should be strong enough to bless 10 to 15 priests daily and appoint more than 100 Bishops...

If she wasn’t mistaken, there were only about 60 Bishops before. Now, there should be more than enough after leaving her base for so long.

She mused.

Then, as she decided to look around, the elves stationed nearby glanced at her, their expressions mixed.

They seemed to dislike the numerous mystical items around her body.

Of course, she didn’t really care and ignored those elves.

Right now, she was simply enjoying a stroll since this would be her last night on the island. After all, she planned to return to the mainland.

Soon, Natalie sat in her quarters, writing reports for Shane through their chat...

She described the successful deployment of Harper’s blueprints, the improved defenses, and the morale boost among the soldiers.

Of course, she also informed him of her plans to send priests and bishops to help him deal with the Demons.

Well, this Mist Shelter was also something she needed to protect because of the secrets they discovered from the Project Mist.

She then paused, thinking of Shane himself.

His ability to anticipate threats, to prepare resources, and to unify shelters was beyond anything she had seen.

No wonder his clan dominated the rankings.

He wasn’t just strong... he was resourceful and always two steps ahead.

Natalie smiled faintly as she sent the report.

However, as soon as she did this, she suddenly felt huge pressure coming from the center of the island!

This pressure was so intimidating and filled with bloodlust!

"D-demons? They’re already here? There’s not even a single system notification?!" As she complained about this, she suddenly heard a familiar chime!

Ding!
