Global Awakening: Apocalypse Ender's Chronicle Chapter 1234: The Culprit
Previously on Global Awakening: Apocalypse Ender's Chronicle...
The Floating Fortress trembled as its decks were scorched by wyvern fire. Soon, the defenders were barely holding the line.
Then, at the critical moment, the Mech Frames made their move!
***
The Mech Frames had been delayed... It was not by lack of readiness, but because of the dragonoid’s massive spell earlier.
A wave of disorienting energy had swept across the fortress, stunning pilots and scrambling systems. Only those with protective treasures embedded in their armor or enchanted charms survived the shock unscathed.
The elves, super soldiers, and aura‑wielding knights endured as well, their resilience kept them ready in the fight.
Among the pilots, Sheena Asuka, the ace, was the first to recover.
Her vision cleared after downing a tonic brewed for emergencies, the bitter liquid burning down her throat.
"Shit... I’m too slow! I’m coming!"
She wasted no time, sprinting to the hangar where the towering silhouette of her machine awaited.
"There’s enough time... Just hold on!" She shouted through the radio.
The Valiant Unit: Skybreaker stood ready, its frame could be seen under the emergency lights.
Unlike the Aegis Mechs or Trident Mechs, the Skybreaker was unique... It was equipped with a special GM Drive, a propulsion system that allowed true flight.
It was the only Mech Frame capable of taking the battle to the skies.
Sheena climbed into the cockpit, her hands moving with practiced speed across the controls.
The system was soon activated as the energy veins coming from the GM Drive engaged.
"Pilot Sheena Asuka, Valiant Skybreaker... launching!"
The hangar doors split open, and the Skybreaker roared into the sky.
Moments later, more Skybreakers followed. One after another, the hangars released their flying titans as they ascended. The fortress defenders cheered as the machines took formation, their weapons primed!
The wyverns shrieked, but the Skybreakers answered with firepower.
"Kill these wyverns!"
Mana‑charged cannons lit the sky with beams slicing through wings and scales.
Wyverns fell in droves as they started spiraling into the ground below.
Missiles streaked across the clouds, and they were detonating close to the cluster of creatures, scattering them.
The aerial tide began to turn.
Sheena led the charge, her Skybreaker passed through the swarm. She fired volleys into clustered wyverns, her cannons shredding them apart.
"Stay close! Don’t let them regroup!" she shouted over comms, her voice remained steady despite the chaos. She needed to be calm during this time...
This may not be as problematic as the Cross Apocalypse before, but they still had to take this seriously.
Just like that, the battle raged as the Skybreakers weren’t stopping at all.
Their GM Drives gave them unmatched mobility, moving through the skies so easily. Wyverns that had once dominated the air now found themselves prey.
Yet victory was not complete.
A roar thundered from below!
Whoooo!
It was deeper and more terrifying than any wyvern’s cry.
The defenders froze as they immediately realized what was going on!
Apparently, a true Dragon emerged from beneath the Floating Fortress.
Its massive body had scales glistening with corrupted mana.
With a single strike, it slammed against the fortress’s underside, the impact shaking the entire structure.
Boom!
The fortress groaned, its altitude started dropping. Alarms were immediately rang as the damage was something significant!
"Sheena! The dragon’s attacking the bottom hull!" a voice shouted over comms.
Sheena’s eyes narrowed. "All Skybreakers, divert! Target the dragon!"
The Mech Frames wheeled in formation, diving toward the colossal beast.
Cannons were fired, missiles were released, and soon, explosions rippled across its scales... However, the dragon endured.
Its hide was thicker than any wyvern’s, its hard wings were vast enough to protect its eyes or any soft parts of its body!
Soon, the dragon’s breath erupted in a torrent of corrupted flame!
Roooaaarrr!
It started searing through the sky.
Several Skybreakers were caught in the blast, their frames melting, pilots screaming before comms went silent!
"Damn it!" Sheena snarled, gripping her controls.
These pilots had trained for at least 10 hours every day and received various VIP treatments because they were all special.
After all, not everyone could pilot a Mech!
But just now, three pilots died!
"You! I’m going to kill you!"
She pushed her Skybreaker into a dive, unleashing a barrage directly into the dragon’s eye!
The beast roared and started thrashing wildly, but it did not fall.
The fortress continued to descend, its engines straining to keep altitude.
If the dragon wasn’t stopped, the guardian of the skies would crash!
Sheena’s voice rang out and issued a command!
"We can’t let it bring us down! Focus fire on its wings! Ground it before it grounds us!"
The remaining Skybreakers rallied, their weapons converging.
Soon, explosions rippled across the dragon’s wings!
As expected, there was a limit to how many projectiles it could block!
Soon, it started tearing chunks of scale and membrane. The beast roared again, its grip faltering.
But it was not enough.
The dragon’s claws dug deeper into the fortress’s hull, dragging it lower!
On the decks above, Diana and Serenya watched in horror as the fortress tilted.
Survivors clung to barricades, praying for the Mechs to succeed.
Serenya’s vines lashed out, anchoring defenders, while Diana swung her hammer to keep wyverns from breaching.
The battle had shifted... This time, the wyverns were broken and they could now be handled, but the true dragon was the real enemy.
Sheena’s voice cut through the comms once more. "This is it! All units, full power! If we don’t stop it now, the fortress is finished!"
The Skybreakers surged, as the GM Drive was pushed to its limit!
Then, all their weapons fired in unison.
The sky lit up with red light as the Mechs unleashed everything they had!
Rooarrr!
The dragon roared as it had no way of dodging!
Boom! Boom!
With the combined assault, its body began writhing under the assault.
The fortress shuddered with its descent slowing. The outcome hung in the balance... as they waited for the smoke to clear...
Soon, they saw the silhouette of the Dragon falling down!
Boom!
The Dragon crashed below, signaling its defeat!

Meanwhile, as Shane was about to hurry and help the situation, he received a message from Raze...
[ Raze: Don’t worry about the Fortress... I’ll take care of it. ]
As soon as he saw the message, Shane finally calmed down.
With Raze on the move, he knew that he didn’t have to worry about anything.
[ Shane: I trust you... ]
Since most of the Legendary Elves and other elite survivors were out of the Fortress, Shane was really worried about the situation.
Thankfully, Raze was nearby.
***
Raze soared through the night sky with Roan, her crimson dragon whose wings beat with loud noise...
The air would even wobble around them as the heat from the dragon’s scales reflected the fires of Roan...
Raze herself looked like a vision of war. She was clad in full armor forged from dragon scales, with her long red hair streaming behind her like a banner. At her side hung a blade carved from enchanted dragon bone, humming faintly with power.
She was a Dragon Knight, and today... she was the storm!
From her vantage point, she had witnessed the Mech Frames’ desperate struggle.
The Skybreakers had fought valiantly, their GM Drives blazing as they tore through the wyvern swarms. She had seen Sheena’s unit dive against the true dragon, cannons and missiles hammering its wings until the beast finally plummeted into the ground...
With only a few Wyverns around, the fortress had been saved... for now.
Well, Raze’s sharp eyes caught movement beyond the battlefield.
Farther out, cloaked figures stood upon a cliff... She saw their staffs raised, and their presence was quite intimidating...
Dark Elves.
Three of them, their hoods concealing pale faces, and their aura was unmistakable. At the center stood one crowned in black, the mark of authority...
Raze’s lips curved into a smile.
She leaned forward, and Roan responded instantly with its wings folding as they dove.
Whoom~
The wind howled around them as the dragon’s roar pierced through the sky!
The Dark Elves turned... their eyes glowed faintly as they realized they were under attack!
The one with the crown raised his staff with shadows coiling around him.
Then his companions mirrored the motion, using dark magic to shape the shadows into a barrier.
But Raze was already upon them.
"Dragon Armies never march without leaders," she muttered, her voice cold. "Tonight, I’ll cut the head off the serpent."
Roan unleashed a torrent of flame, the ground erupting in fire as the Dark Elves scrambled to shield themselves.
Their barrier cracked under the dragon’s breath, the heat forcing them back.
Raze leapt from Roan’s back, her sword drawn.
Boom!
She landed with a crash, but at the same time, her dragon bone blade sliced through the first elf’s staff before he could finish his incantation.
The second elf retaliated by moving shadows to bind her!
But Raze’s sword cleaved through the tendrils of darkness, dispersing them like smoke.
Almost at the same time, she drove her blade into his chest!
Everything happened so quickly!
Only the crowned elf remained...
Still, the elf was not panicking!
He looked at Raze and at Roan for a moment before he smiled and spoke with an eerie tone...
"That’s my Dragon now..."
