Global Awakening: Apocalypse Ender's Chronicle Chapter 1233: Slow Descent
Previously on Global Awakening: Apocalypse Ender's Chronicle...
Shane stepped through the portal into New Genesis Shelter...
He didn’t waste his time and quickly visited the central part of the shelter, where numerous large buildings were located.
He planned to just observe silently, so he moved with deliberate silence as he headed toward the Project Warden building, situated beside the massive Project Mech Frames facility.
He saw the Mechs first, and he couldn’t help but sigh. It was too slow.
Mechs were simply too difficult to produce.
The Mech Frames were colossal war machines, towering constructs meant for large‑scale battles.
Shane mused as he knew that Wardens were different.
They weren’t using a lot of steel compared to a Mech Frame.
They were just ix‑foot humanoid units, sleek and efficient, designed for versatility.
They were soldiers that never got tired, never bled, and never faltered in the face of terrifying enemies.
They were simply the perfect vanguard...
Immune to infection, impervious to blood spells, resistant to corruption... the perfect counter to zombies, vampires, and even the Dragon Army.
It had been months since Shane last visited this place...
Well, he had previously confirmed the project was running smoothly and left the rest to managers and engineers.
Unless resources like iron or enchanted components were delayed, production never stopped. The Wardens were too important after all.
Shane then entered silently, blending into the shadows of the busy hall.
Workers bustled everywhere as they were focused on their tasks.
Soon, he observed the eight processes that defined the creation of a Warden Unit.
The first was basically the design drafting where engineers hunched over devices, refining schematics. Every joint, every plate was carefully calculated for efficiency and durability.
After all, the Warden Units wasn’t just a single version.
Then, there was the Fabrication... Here, Shane saw sparks fly as steel frames were cut, welded, and shaped.
The skeletons of Wardens stood in rows, waiting for life.
After that was Assembly. Teams fitted limbs and torsos together, locking plates into place with precision. The sound of steel being clicked into place echoed like a heartbeat.
Then, there was Enchantment Preparation.
The elves and other Specialists etched runes into armor plates, making them stronger and better.
Indeed, these enchantments increased durability and offered resistance against draconic fire and vampiric curses.
There was Painting and Finishing after this.
Workers coated the units in matte black. It was intimidating yet practical. Each stroke of paint was a mark of identity. There were also other colors depending on the adjustment made for specific Warden Units
Then, Core Installation followed. Mana reactors or batteries were embedded into their chests, humming with power. These cores ensured tireless energy, the heart of every Warden.
After that, Shane watched the Calibration process...
He saw the Technicians testing some movement, balance, and combat routines. Wardens even sparred with training dummies... They were checking if their strikes were precise and such...
After this was determined, the true and complete "brain" was uploaded under Cloud’s guidance... It was basically the true Activation Process
Shane’s A.I. Support, Cloud, was handling all this matter.
Shane watched each stage with quiet satisfaction.
The workers were efficient, their movements practiced. There seemed to be no issues so far...
Still, it wasn’t until he reached his second inspection of the enchantment department that someone noticed him.
An elf bent over a steel plate with her hands glowing as she inscribed protective runes. She looked up, her sharp eyes widening.
"Leader Shane..." she whispered.
It was Eudora, an elf worker he remembered well.
She had once assisted in Blue Haven Shelter, helping shipwright Vasco construct vessels when manpower was scarce.
Shane had always respected her diligence and skill.
Eudora straightened, bowing slightly. "I didn’t expect you here. You move too quietly."
Shane smiled faintly. "I wanted to see the progress without disturbing anyone. You’re working on enchantments for durability?"
She nodded while tapping the glowing rune. "Yes. These plates are reinforced to resist draconic fire and claw strikes. The Wardens must stand against more than zombies now. Vampires, wyverns, dragonoids... we’re preparing for all of it."
Shane’s gaze lingered on the plate as the runes glowed faintly. "Good. The Wardens will be vital. Machines that don’t fear infection or blood magic... they’ll be our shield."
Eudora’s lips curved into a small smile. "And our sword."
Around them, the workers continued, unaware of Shane’s presence. He remained silent, watching the process unfold.
Each Warden was more than steel and enchantments... it could be their promise. A promise that humanity, elves, and all survivors could fight back against the endless tide of monsters.
Shane moved deeper into the hall, observing calibration tests once again...
He was considering whether to give them some advice.
But in the end, he realized that this should be enough and not add any more work to these people...
Just like that, he silently watched Wardens struck with incredible accuracy... Their blows were really shattering reinforced dummies. He noted the fluidity of their movements, the lack of hesitation.
Perfect soldiers.
He then paused at the activation chamber, where newly finished Wardens stood in rows. Their eyes glowed faintly, awaiting orders.
Shane smiled as he saw them... They were not alive, yet they were intimidating...
"Good job, Cloud."
For a long moment, he simply observed, the hum of mana cores and the glow of enchantments filling the hall.
If he had questions, he would ask Eudora instead to ensure that he wouldn’t be disturbed by the others.
The Apocalypse was escalating, but here, in the heart of New Genesis, hope was being forged one Warden at a time.
Shane then turned to Eudora.
"Keep working. These units will decide the battles to come. And when the demons arrive, we’ll need every Warden ready."
Eudora bowed again. She was determined to end this. "We won’t fail you, Leader."

Shane had barely stepped out of New Genesis Shelter when a breathless messenger rushed toward him.
"Sir Shane! Bad news! Our Floating Fortress... it’s under attack! Please, open your Guild Chat!"
Shane froze as soon as he heard the news.
The Floating Fortress was their guardian of the skies, a symbol of strength. If it was being overwhelmed, then the situation was dire. He immediately opened the guild interface, and the flood of messages hit him like a storm.
[ Diana: Need help! There are too many Wyverns! ]
[ Tessa: We’ve already lost three ballista crews! ]
[ Jaxon: Supplies are burning! The wyverns are targeting the storage decks. Hurry up here! ]
[ Kael: I’m trying to stabilize the barrier... So I can’t help. For reinforcements, please bring someone who can fix this barrier. ]
[ Fiona: I’m watching the situation. The fortress is shaking... if this continues, it’ll fall! ]
[ Tundra: Reinforcements are on the way, but we’re too far. Shane, we need you. ]
Shane’s jaw tightened. The fortress was their aerial shield, but the sheer number of wyverns made it impossible to hold. Even the enchanted ballista bolts were barely piercing their scales.

On the eastern deck of the Floating Fortress, Diana was only here to have a vacation but now, she was the acting leader...
She was no knight, no aura‑wielding prodigy, but her presence was important...
Around her, Super Soldiers in heavy armor clashed with wyverns, their Aura Sentinel Tokens glowing faintly as they absorbed the beasts’ fire.
Besides them, Knights who were Aura Users fought hard as well. Their blades glowed with condensed energy. Together, they formed a barricade against the storm.
Diana gave orders, her voice carrying over the chaos.
"Super Soldiers, hold the line! Knights, strike at the wings... ground them!" She swung her hammer into a wyvern’s jaw, and the impact cracked the bone and sent the beast far away...
Her smith’s muscles burned, but she refused to waver.
On the opposite side of the fortress, Serenya stood with her staff raised, her expression remained calm despite the inferno around her. Her spells flowed like nature itself!
She invoked Nature’s Renewal Lv10, and green light surged across the deck. Wounds closed rapidly, blood staunched, and broken bones knit together.
"Stay calm..."
Survivors who had collapsed rose again, and their strength was restored.
When a wyvern’s breath carried a curse of burning corruption, Serenya lifted her staff and cast Purification Lv10.
A wave of cleansing energy spread in a twenty‑meter radius, stripping away poisons and curses...
As another wave of wyverns dove, Serenya summoned Nature’s Guardian Lv10.
Whom!
Vines erupted from the deck, wrapping around barricades and forming shields. The roots absorbed the brunt of the fire, reducing damage by nearly half.
For sixty seconds, the defenders fought under her protection!
Diana glanced across the fortress and saw Serenya’s light shielding the soldiers.
Relief flickered in her eyes. "Good! Keep them alive, Miss Serenya!" she shouted, before turning back to smash another wyvern claw aside.
Well, as a blacksmith, she could really wield her hammer well!
The battle continued as the Floating Fortress shook...
Diana’s leadership and Serenya’s mastery kept the defenders standing, waiting for Shane’s reinforcements to arrive.
However, it didn’t take long before they realized that the Floating Fortress was slowly descending!
