Shane learns of a new mission to retrieve an "Entity" named Sofia, who is immune to all zombie strains and possibly connected to the mysterious Gray Fog. Meanwhile, a remote shelter known as Resting Third, protected by its unique swords, is annihilated by a sudden demonic invasion through a rift in the sky, leaving only a few survivors.

The arrival of the demons came too quickly. The fortresses surrounding Resting Third Shelter had always been enough to repel zombie waves or vampire raids.

Their walls were thick and tall, their patrols were constant. Even if enemies broke through, the clans nearby could mobilize in time.

That was the balance they had lived with ever since...

But this time was different. The demons bypassed everything, tearing open a rift above the shelter.

It was cheating!

Crimson light spilled across the sky, and the protections meant nothing.

Still, the four clans sworn to defend Resting Third reacted immediately.

Lucian of the Nightfall Nexus Clan muttered.

He was referring to one of the Master Blacksmiths of Resting Third.

Lucian’s scouts had seen the crimson rift tear open above the shelter, and he wasted no time. Within twenty minutes, fifty elite survivors of his clan stormed into Resting Third.

Cloaked in black armor, their weapons could be seen to have obsidian edges and silver tips.

Lucian himself carried twin blades infused with shadow energy.

His command was swift as he saw the numerous imps and other demons.

"Form the line! Cut them down!" The Nightfall Nexus fought like phantoms, striking from the shadows, with their blades slicing through imps easily.

This was the power of the swords made by this small shelter!

Next came the Silver Sentinels, their cavalry thundering across the plains!

Although only twenty horseback riders arrived, they were clad in radiant armor as they charged into the fray.

Their lances tipped with glowing crystals would unleash a terrifying wave of energy...

Furthermore, their shields engraved with holy markings glowed as they advanced.

Their equipment was obviously meant for Zombies but thankfully, they also work really well against Vampires!

Soon, their horses trampled lesser demons, scattering imps beneath hooves of steel.

Of course, the members of the Silver Sentinel Clan weren’t just relying on their equipment!

Soon, they unleashed their Clan Skill, Radiant Charge!

Suddenly, a wave of blinding light that tore through the demonic ranks, leaving smoking corpses in its wake.

"Hahaha! Eat that!"

"Our Clan skill is already Level 7!"

"That’s so strong! They’re eradicated just like that!"

The Cross Apocalypse had truly traumatized many of them. Because of that, they now focused on their Clan Skills, abilities, or weapons that could affect a huge area.

After all, they never knew when such an event would happen again.

The third clan, the Ironfang Legion, arrived with brutal force.

This time, they were known for their heavy infantry, they carried axes and halberds forged from Cleves’s own designs.

Their leader, Mayon, raised his halberd high, channeling the skill Iron Wall Formation. His soldiers locked shields, forming an unbreakable line that held back the brutes while their axes cleaved through their demon flesh.

Their discipline was unmatched and they seemed to have attracted the most enemies on their side!

It was as if the Imps and Demons just found their favorite food!

Finally, the Winterbreakers came, led by Josephine, their radiant mage.

Her staff glowed with golden light as she summoned barriers to shield the defenders. Her clan specialized in elemental synergy...

Well, they were lucky enough to have a Clan Skill that provides Magic Talent...

With this Talent, they focused on fire, lightning, and healing.

It might not be enough to deal with high-level enemies if there were only one caster, but this time, there were many of them!

"Solar Flare!"

They unleashed Solar Flare, a combined spell that incinerated more than a hundred imps at once.

Then, their healers cast Circle of Renewal, restoring stamina and closing wounds of the injured. Survivors who should have fallen rose again, fighting with renewed strength.

Together, the four clans fought alongside the guards or people of Resting Third who were still inside the The battle was chaos, but their unity turned the tide.

At this time, instead of heading to bunkers or other protected areas, the people of the Resting Third fought back!

"The reinforcements! They’re here!"

"Help them!"

"Kill these red creatures!"

"Imps and all filthy demons! Die!

Cleves swung his hammer, each strike sending shockwaves that crushed imps in clusters.

His apprentices and also other master blacksmiths fought beside him, wielding swords he had forged, their blades cutting through demon hides with ease.

Lucian’s elites immobilized brutes with Shadow Bind, holding them in place while the Sentinels’ lances pierced their hearts. Mayon’s Ironfang Legion smashed through barricades, their halberds cleaving molten skulls. Josephine’s Dawnbreakers rained fire and lightning, their spells combining with the others to devastating effect.

The synergy was breathtaking. Shadow Bind held enemies still while Solar Flare burned them alive. Radiant Charge scattered foes into the path of Ironfang axes. Circle of Renewal kept the front lines unbroken, healing wounds as fast as they were made. Cleves’s hammer strikes shattered the ground, creating openings for cavalry charges. Every clan played its part, every skill woven into the tapestry of battle.

But the demons were relentless. For every imp slain, two more crawled from the rift. For every brute felled, another emerged, horns glowing with molten fury. The defenders suffered casualties. Nexus elites were torn apart, Sentinels thrown from their horses, Ironfang soldiers crushed beneath claws. Dawnbreaker mages collapsed from exhaustion, their spells draining their life force. Cleves himself bled from wounds, his hammer heavy, his breath ragged.

Still, they endured.

Lucian cut down a demon with his twin blades, slicing through their chest.

Mayon’s halberd split another in half.

Thud!

Josephine raised her staff, summoning a barrier of radiant energy that held back the tide long enough for the Sentinels to regroup.

Cleves smashed his hammer into the ground, releasing a shockwave that obliterated a cluster of imps. The clans fought as one, their unity stronger than the corruption that sought to consume them.

Hours passed, and the battle raged. The streets of Resting Third were rivers of fire and blood, but the defenders refused to yield. Their weapons clashed, their skills combined, their spirits unbroken.

Finally, as dawn approached, the rift began to waver. The demons faltered, their shrieks growing weaker. The combined might of the clans had pushed them back. With one final surge, the defenders unleashed everything...

Cleves’s hammer, Lucian’s blades, the Sentinels’ charge, Ironfang’s halberds, and Josephine’s light.

As soon as the last of the Imps was killed, the rift collapsed, sealing it shut with a thunderous pop.

The demons were defeated!

But the cost was high.

Dozens of survivors lay dead, their bodies scattered across the ruins.

The forges of Resting Third were destroyed, the archives burned, the sword‑making legacy nearly erased. The clans had won, but it felt like a hollow victory.

Cleves stood among the ruins, his hammer resting against the ground.

"We saved what we could," he said grimly. "But Resting Third is gone... We can’t stay like this anymore. The zombies weren’t just our enemies anymore.."

Lucian’s eyes were cold, his voice steady. "The demons bypassed our protections. This won’t happen again. You have stay in our shelter."

Josephine lowered her staff and nodded. "We’ll rebuild this shelter and make it even stronger... But the Apocalypse is changing. Zombies, vampires, wyverns... now demons. The world is shifting."

The Silver Sentinels gathered their fallen, their captain bowing his head. "We’ll be burying the dead first..."

***

Lucian stood among the ruins of Resting Third...

Too many had died, too much had been lost.

Lucian’s gaze swept across the survivors gathering the wounded. He knew they couldn’t endure another wave like this.

He sighed, lowering his blades.

Lucian opened his friend list, his fingers hesitating for a moment before he tapped Shane’s name. The chat window flickered open.

[ Lucian: Friend... I need your help. ]

[ Shane: Lucian? What happened? ]

[ Lucian: One of our most important bases was attacked. The demons came through a rift, bypassing all our defenses. We fought them off with the other clans, but the shelter is in ruins. ]

[ Shane: Demons... already? Aren’t you in Sector 5? That’s faster than I expected. How bad are the casualties? ]

[ Lucian: Heavy. Since it happened too fast, we barely managed to build an extermination team. Even smiths fought bravely. Even our sword‑making legacy is nearly erased. ]

[ Shane: I see... That’s grim. The swords produced there were vital, right? But this is weird... I don’t think this is random. There’s no way that the demons just got lucky and targeted your important base, it might even happen again. ]

[ Lucian: Exactly. I can feel it. More demons will come. The rift is already closed, but it won’t be the last. ]

[ Shane: Did the clans hold together? Nightfall Nexus, Silver Sentinels, Winterbreakers.. and Ironfang Legion, right? Your alliance is definitely strong.]

[ Lucian: Yes. We fought in unison, combined our skills, and destroyed the imps and other demons. But they’re too tough. Even with our Clan Skills, Shadow Bind, Radiant Charge, Solar Flare, and Iron Wall Formation, the cost was too high. ]

...

[ Shane: Fine... you want to purchase some Warden Units, right? ]
