Brandon returns home after a week-long absence, reuniting with a tearful Yverine and Eira. While they shower him with affection, he postpones explaining his disappearance until everyone else has returned. Meanwhile, Ravene, Elize, and Florence discuss his sudden reappearance and plan to prepare a meal for him.

Steam filled the bathroom as hot water cascaded from the showerhead.

Elize stood beneath the spray with her eyes closed as she let the water wash over her.

The dirt, dried blood, and lingering exhaustion from days of searching slowly began to rinse away.

Streams of water trailed down her face, over her collarbones, and across the full curves of her breasts before continuing down the smooth plane of her stomach and along her thighs.

She raised both hands and pushed her wet hair back, the motion lifting her chest slightly as water continued to flow freely over her bare skin.

Her body relaxed under the heat, and the tension in her shoulders gradually eased for the first time in days.

Soft droplets clung to her skin, tracing slow paths along every contour before dripping onto the tiled floor.

For a long moment, she simply stood there, letting the water cleanse more than just her body.

Then, the bathroom door opened quietly.

Elize’s eyes opened at the soft sound. She turned her head slightly, water still running down her body, and saw Brandon standing in the doorway.

"Kael..."

Brandon stepped inside and closed the door behind him.

Elize’s eyes followed him as he approached the shower.

She let out a soft breath and opened her arms. "Come join your Aunt in the shower."

Brandon quickly pulled off his shirt and tossed it aside, then unfastened his pants and removed the rest of his clothes without wasting a second.

Once he was fully naked, he stepped under the cascading water and into her waiting arms.

The moment his body pressed against hers, Elize wrapped her arms around him tightly.

Hot water poured over both of them as she held him close, her full, wet breasts pressing firmly against his chest.

She buried her face against the side of his neck for a moment, simply breathing him in.

"...You’re really back," she murmured against his skin.

Brandon’s arms slid around her waist, pulling her more firmly against him under the spray.

Water streamed down their joined bodies, trailing over the curves of her back and the lines of his arms as he held her.

"I’m here now," he said quietly.

Elize pulled back just enough to look at his face.

Water droplets clung to her lashes and ran down her cheeks.

Her hands rested against his shoulders, then slowly slid down his chest.

The warm water continued to fall over them, washing away the last traces of dirt from her skin while their bodies remained pressed closely together.

She leaned in and rested her forehead against shoulder for a moment.

"Don’t disappear like that again," she whispered. "I don’t care what kind of trouble it is. Next time... take me with you."

Brandon gently patted her back under the falling water, his hand moving slowly over her wet skin.

"There is something I want to tell you."

Elize pulled back just enough to look at his face "What is it, dear?"

Then, without warning, the familiar illusion around him dissolved.

The face she had grown used to the younger, familiar version of Kael faded away.

In its place stood a man who was still unmistakably him... but different.

His hair was longer now, falling past his neck in dark, water-soaked strands.

His features had matured, sharpened by time and experience.

There was a quiet depth in his eyes that hadn’t been there before, a heaviness that only centuries could carve into a person.

Elize’s eyes shrank in shock.

For a moment she simply stared at him, and her lips parted slightly as the hot water continued to pour over them both.

Her gaze trembled as she slowly raised a hand.

Her fingers were unsteady when they finally touched his cheek, tracing the unfamiliar yet still beloved lines of his face.

"...Time hasn’t been kind to you, has it?" she whispered.

"How many years has it been?"

Brandon’s gaze lowered for a moment under the cascading water.

"More than five hundred years..."

Elize’s breath caught upon hearing those words.

"W-What..." She closed her mouth with her hand, and her expression twisted into pure horror.

Tears welled up in her eyes almost instantly, mixing with the shower water that ran down her face.

Her hand remained against his cheek, trembling slightly "...That damned tower..."

"I knew something was wrong with it. I knew it. It has something to do with time... and you were gone for only a week on our side..."

Her other hand came up as well, cupping both of his cheeks now.

She stared into his mature face with a mixture of grief, anger, and heartbreak, her thumbs brushing lightly under his eyes.

"Five hundred years..." she repeated, almost in disbelief.

"You lived through five centuries... while we only waited a week?"

The hot water continued to fall over them, washing over Brandon’s longer hair and mature features, over Elize’s trembling hands and tear-filled eyes.

She didn’t look away from him.

She simply held his face, as if trying to reconcile the man standing in front of her with the version of him she had been desperately searching for.

Her forehead slowly rested against his cheek under the spray.

"...You’ve suffered so much, haven’t you, Kael?" she whispered.

Brandon’s arms tightened around her.

He pulled her firmly against him, squeezing her wet breasts against his chest as he buried his face in the curve of her neck.

"I missed you so much, Elize," he murmured against her skin in a rough voice.

Elize’s eyes trembled at the sound of his voice.

For a moment she didn’t speak.

She simply stood there under the shower, feeling the way he clung to her like someone who had finally found his way back home after being lost for far too long.

She raised one hand and gently began patting the back of his head, her fingers threading lightly through his longer, water-soaked hair in slow, soothing motions.

Her other arm wrapped securely around his back, holding him just as tightly as he held her.

"My baby..." she whispered in a warm voice, full of quiet affection despite the tears on her face.

She continued to gently stroke his hair, letting him keep his face buried against her neck.

"It’s alright now," she murmured softly near his ear. "Aunt Elize is here. You don’t have to carry it all by yourself anymore."

Brandon’s arms remained locked around her waist with his face still hidden against the wet skin of her neck.

He didn’t say anything else for a while.

Elize kept patting his head gently, her fingers moving in slow, comforting strokes through his long hair.

Her own eyes remained slightly glassy, but her expression was filled with quiet determination and deep, protective affection.

"...Five hundred years," she whispered again, almost to herself, as she continued to hold him under the falling water. "My poor Kael..."

She pressed a soft kiss against the side of his head, then rested her cheek against his wet hair.
