Marzella meets with Brandon and discovers his blood possesses an unusually high compatibility with ether-based treatments, containing thousands of active ether particles. Brandon agrees to further testing and requests a place to stay, which Marzella provides by offering him a spare room in her building. As Marzella begins the next round of tests, she receives a call from someone named Elize, catching Brandon's attention and causing him to briefly reconsider his actions.

The next day, Brandon walked downstairs into the dimly lit laboratory.

Marzella was already there, standing in front of a large, cylindrical machine, a custom-built stasis pod she had been developing in secret for advanced ether experiments.

She was adjusting the final settings with her hair tied back in a neat ponytail and her lab coat slightly wrinkled from working through the night.

Brandon looked at the stasis pod in amazement ’This looks like something out of movies.’

She glanced up when she heard his footsteps, "Good morning, Brandon. I hope you slept well."

Brandon nodded, "I did. Thank you for letting me stay."

Marzella gestured toward the stasis pod.

"Today, we’ll run a more comprehensive test. This stasis pod will help us monitor your body’s ether activity over an extended period in a controlled environment. It’s completely safe. You’ll just feel a slight tingling sensation."

She paused, then spoke with a hesitant tone "Please remove your shirt and pants to enter the pod. The sensors must make proper contact with your skin."

Brandon didn’t hesitate. He pulled off his shirt first, revealing his perfectly sculpted, muscular torso.

Marzella’s eyes stayed on his body, and a faint blush crept across her cheeks as she quickly looked away, pretending to adjust one of the pod’s settings.

’His body... it’s flawless,’ she thought, her pulse quickening slightly. ’Not just healthy, it’s ideal.’

Brandon continued undressing, removing his pants without any hesitation. He stood there in only his underwear for a brief second before stepping toward the pod.

Marzella cleared her throat, trying to maintain her composure as she opened the glass door of the stasis pod.

"Please step inside and stand straight. The pod will fill with a light sedative mist to help you relax during the scan."

Brandon stepped into the pod and stood upright as the glass door closed with a soft hiss.

The interior lights activated as various sensors locked onto his body.

Marzella stood outside the pod, watching the monitors with intense focus.

Her cheeks were still faintly pink as she tried to push aside the unexpected attraction she felt.

This is her life’s work. She couldn’t afford to be distracted.

But as the pod began its scan, mapping every muscle, every vein, and every trace of ether flowing through his system, she couldn’t help but steal another glance at his nearly naked body inside the glass chamber.

’He’s perfect...’ she thought, her scientific mind and personal curiosity blurring together.

’If I can replicate even a fraction of what’s happening in his body... I can create something extraordinary.’

Brandon stood still inside the pod, his eyes half-closed as the sedative mist began to fill the chamber.

A few hours later, the stasis pod’s glass door hissed open with a soft release of pressure.

Brandon stepped out slowly, his bare feet touching the cool floor.

He stretched his arms slightly, rolling his shoulders, and the faint red marks from the sensors were visible on his skin.

Marzella stood nearby, reviewing the final data on a large monitor.

The results were even better than she had hoped, as the ether particles in his blood had remained active and stable throughout the entire session.

She quickly composed herself as Brandon approached, forcing a professional smile.

"How do you feel?" she asked, handing him a towel to wipe off the residual mist.

"Fine," Brandon replied casually, wiping his chest and arms. "A little tired, but nothing serious."

He looked at her for a moment, then glanced toward the stairs leading up to the surface.

"Let’s go out and eat. I’m hungry."

Marzella nodded with a faint smile.

"Of course. There’s a good restaurant nearby. We can walk there. Just give me a moment to save the data."

She turned back to the monitor, quickly backing up the scan results into her encrypted server.

A few minutes later, Marzella grabbed her coat and led the way upstairs.

They stepped out into the afternoon sunlight and walked side by side toward a nearby restaurant.

They reached the restaurant and sat at an outdoor table.

Marzella ordered a light salad while Brandon ordered a full meal.

As they ate, Marzella tried to make conversation "So... you mentioned you travel a lot. What kind of work do you do?"

Brandon took a bite of his steak before replying "Odd jobs. Security. Delivery. Whatever pays well. I don’t like staying in one place for too long."

Marzella nodded and took a small bite of her salad, ’If I can convince him to stay longer... I can run more tests. Maybe even begin the replication process.’

---

Four months passed quickly.

The once secretive laboratory had become a second home for both of them.

Vials of blood, tissue samples, and experimental serums filled the shelves, each carefully labeled.

Brandon had become an indispensable part of Marzella’s research.

At first, he played the role of the willing test subject, donating blood regularly, undergoing scans, and allowing her to run increasingly complex experiments on his body.

But over time, he began to actively help her.

He offered suggestions on how to stabilize the ether particles, helped calibrate the machines, and even assisted in refining the serum she was developing.

Marzella stood in front of a large monitor, reviewing the latest data from a recent test.

She turned her head slightly as Brandon walked over, carrying a tray with two cups of coffee.

He placed one beside her without a word.

Marzella looked at him, and for a moment, her gaze softened.

The cold, ambitious researcher who once saw him only as a perfect specimen now looked at him with a strange mix of gratitude and affection.

"Thank you," she said softly, taking the coffee.

Her fingers brushed against his fingers for a brief second longer than necessary, and a faint blush crossed her cheeks.

Brandon gave her a small smile "You’ve been working too hard again. You should rest."

Marzella took a sip of the coffee, her eyes drifting back to the monitor.

"How can I rest when we’re this close? The serum... it’s almost stable."

She turned to look at him "You’ve helped me so much, Brandon. I don’t know what I would have done without you."

Brandon kept his smile and leaned against the desk as he replied "I’m glad I can help. This research is important. You said it will help many people out there."

Upon hearing this, her gaze quivered, and the guilt of her lies pressed upon her "Y-Yes, once we finish this... it will help a lot of people."

As Brandon turned around to check one of the other monitors, Marzella instinctively reached out and grabbed his hand, stopping him.

"...There is something I want to tell you, Brandon."
