Brandon undergoes Marzella's advanced ether experiments within a specialized stasis pod. After four months of intense research and Brandon's active participation, Marzella prepares to reveal a hidden truth about her work.

As Brandon turned around to check one of the other monitors, Marzella reached out and grabbed his hand, stopping him.

"There is something I want to tell you, Brandon."

Her grip was surprisingly firm, her fingers trembling slightly against his wrist.

Brandon turned back to face her and he could see the conflict in her eyes.

Marzella took a deep breath, her long black hair falling slightly over her shoulders as she looked up at him.

"I... I haven’t been completely honest with you," she muttered in a quieter voice than usual.

"The research... it’s not for medical treatments. I’ve been trying to create something... a man who can naturally wield ether."

She paused, looking at his face for any sign of anger or disgust.

"I know it sounds dangerous. Maybe even wrong. But I’ve spent my entire life chasing this. And now... with your help... I think I can actually do it."

Marzella’s hand remained holding his hand "I understand if you want to leave. But I... I didn’t want to keep lying to you anymore."

Brandon looked at her in silence for a long moment and gently squeezed her hand back.

"I already knew," he said softly.

Marzella’s eyes widened in shock.

"You... knew?"

Brandon gave her a small smile "I’ve seen enough to understand what you’re trying to do. And i also read the encrypted documentation you are writing."

"Don’t worry, I will still help you."

Marzella stared at him, her grip on his hand tightening as a wave of relief and confusion washed over her.

Tears welled in her eyes as she stood up, still holding his hand.

"Why?" she whispered. "Why are you helping me? Why haven’t you left?"

Brandon looked down at her and his expression softened just a little.

"Because some things are worth seeing through to the end,"

A soft chuckle escaped his lips "I am already head deep in this. Let’s see how this goes."

Marzella didn’t let go of his hand and moved forward, hugging him "...Thank you for not hating me even though I treated you like a test specimen."

Brandon stood still for a moment, then slowly wrapped his arms around her, holding her gently.

He could feel the tension in her body slowly easing as she clung to him.

He didn’t hate her.

How could he?

She was the beginning of everything... the woman whose obsession would one day create him.

The circle had brought him here, to this moment and stand beside the person who would shape his entire existence.

"I don’t hate you," he said softly, one hand gently stroking her back. "We all have our reasons for the things we do."

Marzella pulled back just enough to look up at him.

She leaned up slowly, almost without thinking, and pressed a soft, grateful kiss to his cheek.

"Thank you, Brandon."

The kiss caught both of them off guard.

The moment her lips touched his cheek, Marzella froze and her eyes widened slightly as she realized what she had done.

Brandon, too, was momentarily stunned.

They awkwardly stepped back from each other at the same time.

Marzella’s cheeks flushed a deep red as she quickly looked away, her hand coming up to touch her own lips as if she couldn’t believe what she had just done.

"I-I’m sorry," she stammered in an embarrassed tone.

"I didn’t mean to... that was inappropriate. I just... I was overwhelmed."

Brandon remained quiet for a moment and gently touched the spot on his cheek "It’s alright. No need to apologize."

An awkward silence settled between them.

Marzella’s face was still flushed, and she avoided his eyes, clearly flustered by her own actions.

Brandon, on the other hand, felt a strange mix of emotions swirling inside him.

He broke the silence first, "We should get back to work," he said, glancing at the monitor.

"The serum still needs stabilization if we want to move forward."

Marzella nodded quickly and turned back toward the equipment, though her hands were still slightly trembling as she adjusted the settings.

"Yes... you’re right," she murmured. "Let’s continue."

But even as she focused on the data, she couldn’t completely shake the warmth that bloomed in her chest.

---

Brandon was sleeping on the couch in the living room with one arm draped over his eyes.

The door to the apartment opened softly.

Marzella stepped inside, carrying a bag of takeout food for dinner. She worked late in the lab again, refining the latest batch of the serum.

She closed the door quietly behind her and set the bag on the dining table.

The aroma of stir-fried noodles and grilled chicken filled the living room.

Her gaze softened as it landed on Brandon sleeping on the couch.

Marzella’s cheeks warmed slightly as she remembered the kiss.

Brandon blinked slowly and woke up, his blue eyes adjusting to the soft lighting of the living room.

He looked up to see Marzella standing beside the couch, watching him with a gentle smile on her face.

"I bought dinner. Come on, let’s eat."

Brandon sat up slowly, running a hand through his hair and glanced at the table, where she had already set out plates and utensils.

She turned and walked toward the table, but not before stealing one more glance at him.

Even half-asleep, with his hair slightly messy and his shirt rumpled, he looked unfairly handsome.

Her gaze quivered but she shook her head ’No, No.’

Brandon stood up and followed her to the table, sitting down across from her.

He watched as she served a portion onto his plate first.

They ate in relatively comfortable silence for a few minutes.

After they finished eating, Brandon helped clear the table without being asked. He then stood up and stretched slightly.

"I’ll head to bed," he said softly. "Thank you for dinner."

Marzella nodded, watching him walk toward the guest room "Good night, Brandon."

He gave her a small smile before closing the door behind him.

---

A few minutes later, Brandon lay on the bed in the guest room, staring at the ceiling.

The room was simple with a single bed, a small desk, and a window overlooking the city lights.

He had changed into loose pants, but sleep was slow to come.

’Haa... should I go sleep with my wives and return in the morning?’

At that moment, he heard a soft knock on the door.

Brandon sat up, frowning slightly. He walked over and opened the door.

Marzella stood there in a white nightgown that reached mid-thigh.

The soft fabric clung lightly to her figure, and her long black hair was loose, falling over her shoulders.

She looked slightly embarrassed with her arms crossed over her chest "The air conditioner in my room is not working," she said quietly, avoiding his eyes.

"It’s too hot to sleep in there. Can I... stay here for tonight? I can sleep on the floor if needed."

Brandon looked at her for a moment and stepped aside, opening the door wider.

"Come in," he said softly. "You don’t have to sleep on the floor."

Marzella hesitated for a second, then stepped inside.

She stood awkwardly near the bed, her hands fidgeting with the hem of her nightgown.

Brandon closed the door behind her and sat on the edge of the bed, looking up at her.

"You can take the bed. I’ll sleep on the couch again."

Marzella shook her head quickly "No, it’s your room. I can’t take your bed."

She paused, then muttered in a quieter voice "We can... share it. If you’re comfortable with that."

Marzella’s cheeks were flushed as she waited for his answer, her heart pounding in her chest.

Brandon looked at her for a long moment, then gave a small nod "Alright."

He moved over, making space for her on the bed.

Marzella hesitated for a second before lying down beside him, keeping a small distance between them.

The mattress dipped slightly under her weight.

They lay side by side in silence, both staring at the ceiling.

After a while, Brandon turned to his side, facing away from her.

Marzella turned her head to the other side with her back toward him.

---

In the morning, standing in Marzella room Brandon looked at the Air Conditioner.

The display was dark, and when he pressed the power button, nothing happened.

He opened the panel and saw that several internal components has been damaged, likely from overuse or a power surge.

He stood there for a moment, staring at the broken unit, ’So it really was broken...’

Brandon closed the panel of the air conditioner and walked out of her room, heading toward the kitchen.

The morning light felt warm on his skin as he stepped into the living area.

Marzella turned when she heard him, "Good morning. I made breakfast."

Brandon nodded "Thank you. And about the AC in your room... it really is broken. I checked it."

Marzella’s cheeks flushed faintly as she remembered waking up in his bed that morning. She looked down at the coffee mug in her hands.

"I’ll call someone to fix it today," she said quietly. "Sorry for intruding on your space last night."

Brandon shook his head "It’s fine. You can stay in my room again tonight if it’s still not fixed."

She looked up at him in surprise and a slow smile spread across her lips "... I will do that."
