From Bullets To Billions Chapter 746: The kicks kept coming
Previously on From Bullets To Billions...
Dipter flowed from one attack into the next, making it clear that he had no intention of letting up. Each time Max thought he had reached the end of a combination, Dipter twisted his body and launched another strike.
Max was struggling to find an opening.
He stepped back as he blocked a kick aimed at the side of his head. Dipter immediately changed direction and attacked his body instead, forcing Max to lift his leg and block it in time. Another kick followed, sweeping towards his face, and Max ducked beneath it.
Although none of Dipter’s attacks had landed cleanly, meaning they weren’t doing any major damage, it was clear that Max was on the back foot.
Does he not tire out? Max thought.
It appeared that Dipter was using circular breathing, allowing him to perform all of his movements as if he were doing nothing more exhausting than taking a gentle jog. His breathing remained controlled despite the speed of his attacks, and his movements showed no signs of slowing down.
Whenever Dipter did take a brief break, it was only to allow one of the other men to attack Max.
Max dealt with each individual easily enough. However, the moment his attention shifted towards them, Dipter would charge in and deliver an even stronger kick.
Max continued to block the attacks in time, but the force behind Dipter’s kicks was building up. Each impact struck the same areas of his arms, and Max was beginning to feel slightly numb.
He’s using everything around him to create the perfect situation. He really has improved a lot.
Dipter had trained every day while in prison. He had fought against various opponents and continued improving himself beyond everything he had already known. With nothing else to focus on, he had dedicated himself entirely to becoming stronger.
He also had a powerful driving force behind him.
His desire to defeat Max.
It wasn’t as though Max hadn’t been training. He had pushed his new body so it could return to the level it had once reached during Maximus’s time. He had also fought against various opponents, forcing himself to improve through every journey and dangerous situation he had experienced.
However, fighting wasn’t the only thing Max had to deal with. He had affairs involving money to manage, along with a number of other responsibilities that constantly demanded his attention.
Dipter’s environment had been completely different.
While in prison, with nothing but fighting and revenge on his mind, he had been able to spend all his time improving. Now, as the two of them fought, a slight gap was beginning to show.
“Those damned idiots!” Dipter shouted as he spun and kicked towards Max’s chest again.
Max blocked the attack, but the force sent him another step backwards.
Dipter immediately followed up with another kick. Max blocked that one as well, continuing to retreat as Dipter pressed forward.
“They tried to scare me!” Dipter yelled. “They said I didn’t match up to you, just because those damned losers lost to me!”
His frustration was growing.
Dipter took two quick steps forward, gathering even more power before throwing his next kick. He was desperate to land a clean strike, yet Max continued blocking everything he sent his way.
Even after the number of attacks Dipter had thrown, it felt as if not a single kick had truly broken through Max’s defence.
Dipter twisted his hips and launched another kick towards Max’s head.
This time, Max didn’t block it.
He lifted his hand and grabbed hold of Dipter’s foot.
“You know, holding back is actually really hard to do,” Max said.
His grip tightened before he violently threw Dipter’s leg to the side, forcing him off balance.
Max then took two quick steps forward. He spun his body and swung his leg through the air, kicking Dipter directly in the chest.
It was the exact same move Dipter had attempted moments ago.
However, Max performed it at an even greater speed.
The impact lifted Dipter off his feet and sent him crashing to the ground. He skidded across the floor before finally coming to a stop.
The instant Dipter went down, the men standing around them charged forward.
Max leapt into the air and kicked the first man directly in the head, taking him out before he could attack. The moment Max landed, he lowered his body and spun, sweeping his leg across the ground.
His kick struck another attacker’s legs and knocked him down.
Max completed the turn and rose smoothly back to his feet.
Those watching the fight were stunned by what they had just witnessed.
“Haha, what the heck?” Popper said as he rubbed his one good eye. “Am I seeing things right? Those were the exact same moves Dipter just used. Are you telling me he copied them right there on the spot?”
Perhaps they should have been frightened or worried now that the situation appeared to be turning against them. Dud, however, merely stood there with a smile on his face.
“He was always talented at using something he had just seen almost immediately,” Dud claimed. “But it’s more than that. Did you see the way he grabbed Dipter’s leg? It means he could have done that the entire fucking time.”
Dud was completely right.
Max knew that Dipter had improved. It was obvious that he had trained hard every day and devoted everything he had to becoming stronger.
However, Max still possessed years of fighting experience from his old body. More importantly, he had the Vow, which made him inhuman.
The moment Max realised how much Dipter had improved, he decided to see everything his opponent could do. Out of all the fighting styles Max had copied and used over the years, Dipter’s was one of his favourites.
The smooth way each movement connected to the next made the style incredibly useful. Since Dipter had clearly developed it further, Max had seen the fight as the perfect opportunity to obtain an upgraded version of those techniques.
Rather than immediately ending the battle, he had allowed Dipter to attack.
He had watched every movement, studying the way Dipter shifted his weight, controlled his breathing and linked each kick together. Now that Max had seen enough, there was no longer any reason for him to continue holding back.
Dipter planted one hand against the ground and pushed himself back to his feet.
“You tricked me!” Dipter shouted.
“It’s not as if we were fighting fairly from the very beginning,” Max replied.
However, the smile quickly disappeared from his face when he noticed what was happening.
The long-haired man with the scarred face stepped down from the ship. Dud followed him, along with Popper, the man wearing the eye patch. Everyone who had been watching from the ship, apart from Donot, had finally decided to join the fight.
The situation had changed.
“We agreed that if it looked like there was no chance of winning, we would join in,” Dud said. “We will not let this opportunity get away.”
