Aaron struggles against the superior Monk, trying various tactics to gain an advantage. Monk easily blocks Aaron's attacks and taunts him. Aaron realizes Monk's ego might be his weakness and tries to exploit it by questioning his motives. Monk reveals he and his group killed Hercules with the help of an ally, and that this ally is now heading to kill Aaron's boss.

Max arrived at the location alone, just as they had instructed him to.

Waiting for him were old enemies, along with several new faces he had never seen before. Even so, it was clear that every person gathered there had come for the same reason. They were there to make certain Max wouldn’t get away.

Among the faces he recognised was Dipter, one of the first enemies Max had encountered after experiencing life in a new body.

Despite only being in high school, Dipter already had connections to the Underworld. He had been strong and skilled enough to attract their attention, something few people his age could have achieved. Max had defeated him before, but judging by the confidence with which he stood among the others, Dipter hadn’t forgotten what had happened between them.

Then there was Dud, an enemy from the Rejected Corps. From what Max had learned, Dud was the person stirring up trouble from the inside. He was most likely playing multiple sides against one another, using them all for his own benefit.

There was also a chance that Dud wasn’t only responsible for Abby’s death, but Jay’s as well.

Finally, there were the people Max didn’t recognise.

One was a man wearing an eye patch. Another was a well-built man with long hair and scars covering his face. Max knew nothing about either of them, but the fact that they were standing alongside Dipter and Dud told him enough.

All of these people had gathered to stop him.

The whole situation almost made Max laugh.

The Billion Bloodline group had managed to reach the same level of status as the White Tigers, a powerful group from the past. However, they were far less infamous because of how quickly they had risen to their current position. They simply hadn’t been around long enough for their name to carry the same weight.

Despite that, Max had certainly made far more enemies than he had ever expected in his new life.

Regardless of how he personally felt about the captives, he couldn’t ignore the situation. Members of the Black Hounds had been captured, including their two leaders, Jett and Darius. Members of the Stern family were also being held.

They weren’t necessarily people Max cared about, but they were still useful to him. More importantly, he couldn’t simply allow an enemy to take people connected to him without consequence.

This was something he needed to deal with now.

Using Donot’s money, they had hired a large number of gang members. Those gang members had been joined by the prisoners who had escaped with Dipter. Together, they had believed that their numbers would be enough to overwhelm Max.

Instead, Max continued to prove himself.

It didn’t matter how many people came his way. He dealt with each of them as they approached, refusing to allow the crowd to surround or restrain him. After watching several men fall, Dipter finally decided to step forward.

He exited the parked ship and made his way down to the docks, ready to take revenge on the person who had ruined his life.

Max was still dealing with the attackers around him when one man began whipping a bike chain through the air. The chain came toward Max at speed, but he carefully raised his foot and brought it down at the perfect moment, pinning the chain in place and stopping it in its tracks.

Before the man could pull it free, two more attackers rushed forward.

Max snapped a punch into the first man’s face before he could reach him. At nearly the same moment, Max lifted his foot and drove it into the second man’s chin. The attacker’s head jerked back as the force of the kick stopped his advance.

Max immediately moved to charge at another opponent, but a kick suddenly came flying toward his face.

He noticed it just in time.

Max raised both arms and blocked the attack, but the force behind the kick still pushed him back several steps.

"It seems you’ve gotten quite a bit better since the last time we met," Dipter said.

Max lowered his arms and looked at him.

"Well, I should hope the same is true for you," Max replied. "You wouldn’t have come out here on your own if you hadn’t improved. I bested you last time, so if you haven’t gotten any stronger, this isn’t going to be much of a challenge, is it?"

Dipter immediately ran toward him.

He jumped into the air and spun his body, delivering a powerful side kick. Max blocked it, but the strength of the blow forced him backwards once again.

The moment Dipter landed, he lowered himself and swung his leg toward Max’s feet, attempting to knock him off balance.

The kick connected.

Dipter’s movements were not only fast, but smooth. Each attack flowed naturally into the next, leaving almost no pause between them. Even though the sweeping kick struck Max, it wasn’t strong enough to knock him down.

Before Max could properly respond, another attacker came at him from the side and swung a bat with all his strength.

Max lifted his arm and defended against the blow.

At the same time, Dipter kicked him in the stomach. Before Max could counter, another kick struck him in the head, snapping his face upward.

Dipter had managed to land two clean hits.

"Well, you really have improved," Max said.

The situation was strange.

Dipter had clearly improved his speed, strength and technique, but those weren’t the only things making the fight more difficult. The most troublesome change was the flow of his movements.

Max wasn’t weaker than Dipter, nor was he slower. Yet Dipter had developed an almost perfect sense of flow, connecting one movement to the next without hesitation. Each strike naturally set up another, making it difficult for Max to find an opening.

It was especially troublesome because Dipter wasn’t the only person Max had to worry about. Gang members and escaped prisoners still surrounded them, waiting for any chance to join the fight.

Max had to watch Dipter’s movements while remaining aware of every attacker nearby. Even a moment of carelessness could allow one of them to interfere.

Dipter remained focused entirely on him.

"You have no idea how many fights I’ve been through," Dipter claimed. "Everything I’ve done has been for my one goal of taking you down."
